Chapter Text

Thud.

That was all Ness heard before he felt a strong grip on his leg, he was pulled off the sofa and onto the small glass table infront him, breaking it upon impact.

His eyes flew open to find a feral Kaiser over him, growling, the chains that once kept him in place now clanging together making a cacophony of noises. Ness kicked Kaiser off him and made a grab for his trusted knife, a piece of glass sticking from his side, red liquid dripping onto the floor staining the carpets.

Kaiser growled and jumped after the other males once more trying to take a bite out of him, again. “Stop it Micha!” He tried talking some sense into the blonde, Kaiser bumped into the black frame of the coffee table toppling over the lamp, engulfing the room into complete darkness. He crawled quickly towards Ness.

Ughh.

Kaiser was fast, he had always been fast no doubt about it, fast on his trail whenever he messed up on the assignment at the facility, fast to drag him away from bullies then scold him about not using the strength he had in him, fast in figuring out everything about every new person, However something had most definitely changed, he was now eerily faster than he ever was and that scared Ness shitless.

Now don’t get him wrong, he noticed that he had also gotten a boost of strength he was stronger than he ever knew he could be and to be truthful he was quite grateful.

He quickly dodged Kaiser then gripped onto his shirt, Kaisers bloodshot eye rolled over in a way that would probably have someone shit themselves, but Ness was used to this, he was used to his Micha.

The knife was planted into Kaisers shoulder in a way that was enough to slow him down but not enough to shut him down for good, Ness just couldn’t bring himself to do so.

The room was still dark and the blonde male was thrashing all over unable to stay still, then suddenly , a sharp pair of teeth sinking into Ness’s shoulder.

A gut wrenching scream escaped the magenta haired males lips, hot tears streaming down his face as he repeatedly pressed the knife into Kaiser back, a punch was thrown to the blondes face, his head twisted unnaturally with a crack at the force.

He was pushed from above Ness as he made a quick break for the door in the dark, and failing to do so.

He fumbled a bit before he froze, it was quiet, dead silent. The growling and thrashing of the chains had stopped, the only thing audible was Ness’s quick, shallow breaths.

He turned and walked backwards a few steps before turning around desperately trying to find the door, then it was no longer silent.

The mass clinking of teeth could be heard at a rapid speed, then they started to grind together. His hands shot up to his ears as he hissed through the pain.

Silence once more. A deep, broken breathe escaped his bloodied lips, the tears still hot on his cheeks.

Ness turned and started to head to what he assumed was the right side of the house, a door was also that way, almost there he whispered to himself.

Kaiser launched himself from the darkness and onto Ness once more, his head hitting the floor with a loud thud, blood now running down the side of his face as Kaisers teeth sunk into his side again.

He tried, he’d really tried to fight back against him but it was like every ounce of strength he had was drained in that very instance, his eyelids got heavier each second.

He was out.

—

“He’s still out cold and it’s already been a week since we found him” a voice whispered above him sounding a bit too carefree. He tried to open his eyes, to move or do something but nothing he did worked.

“He’ll be fine, your blood helped didnt it?”

“Yeah but I wanna talk to him!”

“Let him rest, come on.”

—

Ness doesn’t know how long he’d been out, he only knew he kept regaining and losing consciousness.

“He’s dead.”

Hes WHAT?

“The guy isn’t dead. Stop that.”

“Fine fine okay! Our guest isn’t dead just.. in a coma yeah!”

Is it really a coma though? Eh, maybe.

—

He was conscious again, with no knowledge of how much time has passed since he was found.

Is he okay, is Kaiser okay? Who and when did they find him? It was probably randoms he didn’t know seeing as no one identified him, or maybe they did and he was simply just out of it at that time.

He wished he could wake up, but at the same time apart of him wished to stay like this. He was exhausted, everything was just getting unbearable.

—

“I’m starting to think you’re right maybe he’s dead and and just has a delayed turning.”

“Hah! Your starting to sound like me!”

“Get your hands off him.”

…

“Yeah he’s taking up space let’s throw him out underlashes senior.”

“We’re not throwing him out devil boy. Just wait a few more days.”

He felt a hand checking his forehead, his temperature to be exact. “He’s gonna wake up soon, his temperature went down. He’s healing better than that kid did actually.”

“I think Char-boy healed just fine! You’re just grumpy.”

—

Ness rolled his eyes over and over, finally they opened for just a bit before he felt absolutely exhausted, a sharp breathe leaving him.

“His eyes jus’ opened, Hey, Ness ya’ with us?” A voice with a strong country accent asked him before a hand was gently pressed onto his forehead.

His vision was a bit blurry but he could make out the figure infront him, Karasu..? Yeah Karasu. He remembered having a few light conversations with him in the past, they never lasted long enough for them to become friends, however they weren’t complete strangers.

A simple “mhmm...” was all he could manage right now.

“Aight’ I’ll go fetch Bachira so he finishes patching ya’ up, then ya’ should be energized enough to walk around by tomorrow, been out for a while so your wounds are almost fully healed. Folks like us gotta stick together..can’t afford to lose someone else again hm?”

The younger males voice died down near the ending of the sentence, he was curious as to what he meant but decided not to stick his nose where it didn’t belong, Micheal told him not to do that very often.

He heard a door open then the faintest click of it shutting before a new figure was staring down at him, silver-ish white hair with a green streak at the front, green underlays aswell.

He recognized this one as Otoya, he met him only once during a joint assignment at the facility.

“How’d you end up in such a bad condition? You almost completely succumbed to the virus dude, and that’s not exactly easy for us blue lock guys.”

Ness gave the guy the most deadpan look he could produce right now, he was barely able to keep his eyes open did he look like he could go into details about why he almost died? Well he could, if he tried, but he was being both mentally and physically blocked from doing so.

A small laugh escaped Otoya’s lips as he walked towards the door and pulled it open, a fluffy, overgrown, yellow and black jellyfish haircut now staring down at him with yellow eyes.

“Hey hey! I’m gonna check up on you okay? I know why they made me medic but yeah!”

“We made you medic because your surprisingly good at this stuff Bachira.” Otoya mumbled smugly, barely audible.

The check up went smoothly and was quite calming actually, not that Ness had the will to say all that out loud, he just hoped his mood would atleast be somewhat better tomorrow when he was able to move around freely.

Bachira was messing around with a few supplies before he spoke up again, it was now the both of them alone in the room, “I don’t know if anyone told you prior this but you were out for atleast two or three months, but uh- I’ll leave you so you can get your rest now, also tomorrow you’ll be going on a water run with Shidou, and Sae! Before you leave make sure you meet up with Karasu he’s our strategist he’ll tell you the routes and stuff y’know? Anyways bye!”

The younger male was out of the room in one quick shuffle.

The room wasn’t at all bad, infact it was quite nice. The moonlight reflected off the walls in a way that made the trees outside look absolutely beautiful, he liked appreciating the small stuff whether it was important or not.

—

The sun was bright and warm, Ness shuffled a bit before irritatingly kicking the sheets off his body, bandages wrapped around his side, one around his forehead and another on his shoulder, man he had it rough. Pretty damn rough.

“So müde.”

He slipped out of bed and scanned the room to find what he assumed was clothes meant for him, he picked them up and made his way to the bathroom clicking the the door shut in a swift motion.

The bandages came undone as his arms moved with thoughtful caution, faint bite marks could be spotted along both sides of his waist, one on his shoulder aswell. God damn it Micheal.

He stepped into the shower, the water pressing steadily against his multi-colored hair. Steam rose on both sides of the glass, a relaxed exhale could be heard from him.

He wondered if Micheal was still out there roaming the streets or perhaps he was still trapped in the house, back to his senses probably and waiting for Ness to come back home.

He knew his thoughts were very much deluded but he liked to avoid what he truly feared the most, what would most definitely send him into a state of panic if ever confirmed to be the sad truth.

What if Kaiser wasn’t even alive anymore?

No- no he had to be, the shower turned off with irritation, the handle of the pipe now bent.

He really needed to control himself more, he always lost his composure whenever Micheal was mentioned, he was both his strength and his weakness.

He made up his mind, he’d find Micheal and cure him no matter what it took, even if it costed him his own life.

He’d cure his Kaiser.

Unwillingly his mind drifted to a question he once overheard, “Kaiser, is Ness special to you?”

He never stuck around for the answer but he hoped that it was what he imagined it to be, he knew how Kaiser was. So that’s why he had a question of his own, if no one was special to you could anyone ever hope to be?
