Izuku turned off his phone and jogged to keep up with Hisashi's long strides. They were quick to leave the mall and soon enough they were back at the house. Izuku immediately darted to the room, closing the door behind him, and pulled up YouTube.
What? He hadn't been able to have his quiet time in the past couple days, sue him.
He switched between videos, trying to find a good one, but none of them held his attention, so he kept looking. And kept looking. And... kept looking. Not even the ones he liked to watch on repeat felt interesting. Weird.
Maybe YouTube just wasn't his thing for the moment, that was fine. He put his phone away and reached for a book- hm. He didn't have any books in the room. Oh, wait, nevermind, he had a few in his bag.
He reached down and opened his schoolbag, glancing between his three options. None of them felt satisfying. Alright, fine, he'd just write some analysis then. He pulled out his recent notebook and moved to sit at the desk. He settled in completely, adjusting to make sure he was entirely comfortable (a lot of the time, whenever he writes analysis, he'll become super hyperfixated on it; he'd already learned his lesson and knew to be in a good position before writing). His pencil hovered over the page.
He hesitated.
Something was wrong. He didn't feel... motivated. Like, at all. He wasn't inspired to write anything. He tapped his pencil a couple times. He wanted to write, he did, but he just couldn't bring himself to begin. It felt like his own body was preventing himself from doing anything, while his brain was making sure that he couldn't find his usual joy in analysis.
He left the desk, moving back over to the bed, only to find he was suddenly uncomfortable. Maybe Kacchan would be able to help, or at least explain what he was experiencing.
He picked up his phone and even made it all the way to their texts, but his fingers started to feel heavy. Not in the tired way, no, but he didn't know how to describe it. Izuku stared at his phone screen until it started to dim, trying to will himself to type something.
Eventually, he gave up, turning off his phone and just staring at the ceiling. He was bored. He wanted to do something. Anything. His brain wouldn't let him.
Maybe he could ask Hisashi.
He thought about moving, but his body refused to do so. His limbs felt heavy, almost detached from him entirely. Even twisting to look at something felt like too much a burden.
Nevermind then.
He didn't know how long he had lied there, but it was long enough for Hisashi to knock on his door to tell him that he ordered lunch, and to just grab whatever. Izuku finally peeled himself off the bed, still feeling like his brain was preventing him from everything. When he got to the kitchen, where Hisashi said the food was, he didn't feel hungry.
He looked around in the fridge and the nearby cupboards, but nothing looked remotely appetizing. He gave up and made his way over to the snack cupboard, where the same thing happened, but he forced himself to grab a small thing of chips. It was better to have something small than nothing at all, or at least that was what his mom would tell him.
Eating the chips was just the beginning, however, because he realized very quickly that he was, in fact, really hungry. He migrated back to the kitchen and ended up eating one of the ramen bowls Hisashi ordered. He felt like he could get finally back to doing things, so he started texting Kacchan while he went back to the room.
