Don’t Dawn on the Future

Chapter 2: Love

Summary:

February — The Malfoys celebrate Valentines Day

Chapter Text

Scorpius swung his dangling feet as he sat one of the tall velvet stools in his kitchen while waiting patiently for some of his mothers french toast. Astoria showed him the step by step tutorial of making the dish as he watched and now he finally got to taste it, she carefully set down a plate of french toast in front of him. Scorpius smiled as he noticed the strawberries that were cut into the shapes of hearts; that she had prepared in honour of Valentine’s Day.

“Leave it to cool down for a moment so you don’t burn yourself sweetie!” His mother warned, giving him a pat on the arm.

“Okay mum, thank you!” Scorpius said gratefully as he looked up at his mother.

She leant over and ruffled his hair affectionately. A moment later the spruce front door opened, Draco was standing in the doorway with a bouquet of white roses and a smile on his face. He stepped inside the house, handed his wife the flowers and gave her a kiss.

“Happy Valentine’s Day dear.” Draco said as he pulled back from her.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, I love you!”

Scorpius thought his breakfast had cooled down enough so he picked up his fork, blew on his food as an extra precaution and then began eating in order to distract himself from his smitten parents.

Once the whole family had eaten breakfast, they left the house and left to go to a muggle theatre. Scorpius had never gone to the pictures before, he felt particularly excited as they walked down the cobble road dressed in their muggle clothes, Scorpius stood in the middle of his mum and dad — holding both their hands at either side of him.

They arrived in the theatre and found their seats in the screening room, the movie was old and in black and white. Scorpius roughly understood the plot, when it ended he didn’t think it was anything special but when he turned to his mother, she was teary eyed and had her hand placed atop Draco’s.

They leave the cinema and Scorpius’s eyes readjust to the bright sky outside. The Malfoy’s were scheduled into a fancy restaurant, where they arrived and were shown to their table. Scorpius climbed onto his chair, sat at the table with his parents and smiled at the napkin on his placemat which was methodically folded to look like a swan. His dad picked up his own tissue and guided Scorpius on how to fold it into the swan until their food arrived.

”Mines is weird and it’s beak is all squinty!” Scorpius complained as he couldn’t perfect the fold.

Astoria beamed. “Oh come on, it’s perfect! It’s got character and it’s better than what I could do, I never managed to get the hang of oragami!” She reassured.

This made Scorpius feel better about the wonky swan he had created.

They left the restaurant a while later, full of both food and love as they headed home.

Notes:

What a cute family, I sure hope none of them die!
