Chapter Text
It was the day of the anniversary party and not too long ago the Wilkerson family just found out about Malcolm’s secret daughter, and Reese’s ‘secret’ channel. Turns out Francis and Piama were having a baby, and Hal got high off his mind.
You were just starting to see how chaotic this family really was, Reese’s stories were making sense now.
On the drive to the party Reese couldn’t stop coming up with ways to get back at Kelly, for revealing his Chanel even you didn’t know about. Once you guys finally arrived he snuck off to hide from Hal, whilst you went around trying to get familiar with new faces.
You came across Kelly holding a laptop, which had Dewey on the other end; Francis and piama, and another individual who seemed to be around your age.
“Hey everyone, how’s it going?” You said cautiously walking up.
Everyone saying hello back, except the one you didn’t know, instead his words were, “wait who are you?.”
Francis spoke in an aspirated tone. “Oh no one told you yet.”
Kelly butting in before he said anything else, “this here is Reese’s finance.” A small smirk showing on their face.
A smile appearing on yours, as the man talked. “What? You don’t look a day over 30.”
Kelly speaking, “that’s because she’s not, she’s 21.”
“Heh you must be Jamie.” You added.
“Yea, I’m also surprised mom and dad were okay with this.”
“Well at first they weren’t but it took a bit of convincing.”
“Yeah mom said she’s good for him.” Kelly said.
“I am good for him, and you’ll know it when he’s outta your hair.” You replied.
“I just hope it doesn’t crash and burn like his other marriages.” Piama said while sitting down.
“How long did his last one last exactly?” Francis said before sipping his wine.
“I’m still surprised he had at least one. It was a waste to go the other weddings.” Dewey on the other end added.
“Oh like you were actually there.” Jamie said.
“Hey at least I showed up.” Dewey rebutted.
“All I’m saying is that it’s stupid for you to be at places on a laptop.”
“Eat my balls, Jamie. I’m being considerate.” Dewey resorted to.
“Excuse me.” Came from a voice nearby that drew in closer. It was three people. You figured it was Malcolm and his secret family the way everyone turned away from him.
He immediately began apologizing, “I- I’m sorry. I don’t have any excuses. I just wanna clear the air and make it right.” He sounded desperate deep down.
Everyone seemed quick to forgiving.
“Leah right? This is your dad Malcolm? Annnnd?” You said trying to get familiar.
“His girlfriend, Tristan.” Tristan said filling in the blank for you.
“Wait who are yo-“
“Reese’s finance, she’s 21.” Kelly said “we’ve been over this, hah if only you were here.”
“I apologized, give me some grace.”
“Okay.” Kelly said whilst rolling their eyes.
“But what the heck are you doing with a 40 year old?” Malcolm questioned.
“He’s only 36 an-“
“Wait you said fiancé? You’re getting married to my brother?” Malcolm said with disbelief.
“I’m shocked he’s still able to find people that put up with him.” Kelly added.
“Dad talks about him like he’s the spawn of satan, he can’t be that bad can he?” Leah asked.
He’s really not, I don’t know why they’re exaggerating.” You replied emphasizing the last word.
“You didn’t live with him. And once you do we’ll see who’s exaggerating.” Dewey said.
The conversation was cut by Lois coming in, “kids. I need some help.” She continued on about how the planners were messing things up. And before she could go on Leah said hi and hugged her.
Suddenly Malcolm was no where to be found.
Lois said turning to you, “hey, were your parents able to make it?”
“Oh yes, my mom is somewhere mingling, I think my dad’s still having a hard time taking in the information in.”
“Oh sorry to hear that dear, I’ll look for your mom and Malcolm.” Lois said before you wondered off looking for Reese once more.
You found him talking with Malcolm; poking his head out of some balloon stand. As you were walking up you could start to hear their conversation. You stoped before they saw you.
“Malcolm where have you been?” Reese asked surprised.
“Handling charity, you wouldn’t understand it.” Malcolm quickly replying with a sarcastic and severe tone.
“Why do you talk to me like that?” Reese responded sounding a bit hurt.
“Like what?”
“Like I’m less than you? I’m YOUR older brother.”
“Well I mean you don’t exactly make it hard.” Malcolm replied cluelessly.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“Oh come Reese. I mean, you have no job, you still live with mom and dad, and every marriage you had ended terribly. Oh and I met your fiancé by the way. For gods sake Reese you’re dating someone 20 years younger than you!
“Hey it’s 15 years.” Reese quickly rebelled.
Malcom face growing agitated before calming down “face it Reese you’re a bum. A bit of silence after his words harshly left his mouth.
“…Exactly and this might be my last chance, at something good. Look Malcom, you were smart enough to be able get out of this family. You have a daughter, a girlfriend who loves you, and a job doing whatever it is that you do.
“I install computers in grocery store chains, and food manufacturers, to get them on the path with food banks and shelters across the country.” Malcolm cut in unknowingly arrogant. You rolled your eyes at him, he sounded exactly how Reese described.
“See you help people…I think. All I do is make videos humiliating dad. Hilarious videos I might add.” Slight chuckles coming out of you. “And my soon to be wife has helped me to get to your level.”
“Heh well I won’t say my level but keep going.”
“I have something going for me again, and I just don’t need your negativity dragging me down. I’m already all in my own head to not mess up. Can’t you just be happy for me?”
Hearing how everyone in this family talks about Reese drowns you in deep sorrow. You knew he was only trying his best, wanting to prove he’s not half as bad as they say he is.
“You’re right Reese. Look I’m sorry I’ve just been in my head this whole day.”
“Thank you finally some appreciation.”
“You’re welcome. Wait, why are you hiding?”
“I already told you my hilarious videos of dad…he saw them.”
“…look moms looking for me, if you don’t rat me out I won’t rat you out.”
“Deal.” Reese said before sliding back into the balloon stand.
Quickly after Malcolm left you appeared behind Reese, catching him off guard. For the rest of the party you stayed a bit close to him, sometimes leaving to go talk with Tristan or Leah, get to know the newer family members as well.
Eventually Hal found Reese and they had a talk. Hal and Lois had a dance and it somehow ended up with everyone being glitter bombed. You were a bit happy your dad didn’t show, this really wouldn’t have helped his opinion.
At the end of the party Reese dropped you back off at your dorm; not before getting in a pity round of sex in the car, with glitter falling off you both with every thrust.
While showering, thinking about the night you had; you felt even more connected to this family than ever. You couldn’t wait to be an official member.
