Chapter Text

Izuku awakes to beeping not the alarm clock but the arrhythmic beeping of a heart monitor.

He feels like he is watching his body from another point of view, like he’s just a character in a video game.

But he does hear when Recovery Girl comes in.

“Sweetheart, do you want your teacher or do you want to talk to me for a bit?” she asked with a grandmotherly smile on her face.

He just shrugs and goes back to the third dimension. His mind was in before.

She tries and get Izuku’s attention again, but ultimately that fails.

He turns back once suddenly his teacher is in the room.

“Watch for the next twenty four hours and don’t let him be alone. From the notes I’ve received it’s been acting off for about a few weeks now so I don’t wanna hear any butts or excuses.” She scolds and while he is still not fully there he’s still conscious enough to be surprised.

“ yeah, all right. just… how bad is it?” he asks, looking properly guilty.

She sighs, “We had to revert to some crude methods of getting the pills out so he might not be able to yell or eat without some pain. Waterboarding, it makes him vomit but it really is just controlled drowning. I don’t really know about his mental health though. You’ll have to go to Hounddog and set up an appointment with him.”

“Mmk.” Aizawa hums.

“He is awake so you know. Just don’t overwhelm him. He might break down.” She says and turns to leave but stops at the door.

“He has medication on the table so keep an eye on that.” And with that the door shuts.

Izuku swivels his head to look out the window.

He knows that this height would not be enough to kill him but it would cause a lot of pain.

“Kid, do you want to tell me what you were thinking?” Aizawa asks but it comes out as a command.

Izuku bites his lip to keep himself from breaking down.

“Izuku?” He asks when he gets no response.

“I just wanted to not be angry.” He whispers.

He doesn’t even believe that Aizawa heard his words till he speaks, “Kid, why wouldn’t you want to be angry? You need anger to help you express yourself healthily.”

Izuku crosses his arms and glares at the floor.

Aizawa’s eyebrows furrow his eyebrows and sighs, “Please.”

“Just leave me alone!” Izuku snaps but his voice cracks and he ends up coughing almost obsessively.

Aizawa is quick to his side and presses a glass into his hands. Izuku’s quick to take a drink.

They sit there for a bit waiting for Izuku’s throat to be cleared.

“You want to know what’s wrong!” He yells but keeps it at a volume where it doesn’t hurt.

Aizawa gives him a sharp nod as Izuku takes a deep breath so he could continue yelling because fuck he needed this.

”Everytime I start acting like my actual self, everyone and I mean everyone shoves their head into my business because I’m acting ‘Mean’ ‘Odd’ or ‘Not like myself’! When I actually need someone to care for me and ask me how I'm doing no one ever does! And now Hizashi is coming back, I am cleaning the dorm almost every time I leave my room or come home from school. Everytime I talk to someone my mind won’t shut up! All I am is wrong! All I want is to do is either-!” A sudden hiccup hits Izuku and pressure builds behind his eyes.

A sudden hand to his shoulder makes him jump ever so suddenly. Aizawa’s eyes are filled with worry or is that pity?

The thought that Aizawa pities him sparks a new flame inside of Izuku.

”Why! Tell me why everytime I say anything I either get pity or annoyance! It’s everytime!” The tears that he had been holding back finally begin to run and Izuku just collapses into himself.

“Please, please just tell me why.” He begs with gasps all while trying to quiet his sobs.

When Izuku’s tears had started to slow, he realizes that his quirk activated sometime before but he was so much in the moment that he didn’t notice. He then turns it off and he winces at the pressure his quirk left.

The same hand from the teacher that has saved him time and time again rests on his back. Pressing slow circles.

This action just makes Izuku cry harder and move from the position he was in and clutch at the shirt in front of him.

”Shhhhhh. It’s going to be okay.”

As Aizawa comforts him, he slowly drifts into slumber. He thinks Aizawa mumbles at one point, ‘You don’t need to take on everything right now. You're just a child.’

He drifts this time into a peaceful slumber. Mostly normal class days.

Notes:

This isn’t finished but I didn’t have any time to write do to finals. (Plus my mom was in the hospital & I might have gotten jumped by some other girl but that’s not really important)

Notes:

Sorry for not posting for a while but my teacher just got arrested for child prom so that was meh. Oh and I got finals.
