Chapter Text

Skizz still hadn’t healed.

Which… wasn’t that good.

Impulse knew nothing about medical aid for angels, and if Skizz knew, he didn’t remember. He didn’t remember anything about his time before he fell.

But Skizz had told Impulse the one thing he did remember so many times.

It wasn’t his fault.

And Impulse believed him. Maybe because of how desperate Skizz sounded. Maybe because that was the one thing he remembered. Maybe because, over the time Impulse had been with Skizz, looking after him, getting to know him, he couldn’t believe that the soft-hearted angel could do any harm.

So Impulse searched so hard for help. Skizz was dying, and he couldn’t let the first person he’s ever actually cared about die.

But no one would ever help. Fallen angels were notorious for doing horrid and insane things, so no one dared to even be around him.

Impulse was searching another town, asking the local doctors, getting doors slammed in his face again and again. The demon sighed, sitting down on a bench with Skizz.

“No luck?” Skizz asked, already knowing the answer.

“No luck.” Impulse confirmed.

“Aw, it’s okay. We’ll find someone who’ll help someday. It’ll just take some time.” The angel smiled, laying his head on Impulse’s shoulder.

“We don’t have time!” Impulse hissed, tears forming in his yellow eyes “You’re injured and if we don’t get help.. you’ll-”

The demon choked on his words. Skizz put his bandaged arm about Impulse.

“We still have time. I’m not gonna die tomorrow. Or anytime soon.”

Impulse smiled weakly. “Y-yeah. Sorry, I’m being stupid.” He wiped tears from his eyes and sniffed.

“No, it’s not stupid! Caring about someone isn’t stupid.” Skizz comforted.

Impulse smiled at Skizz. Skizz smiled back.

“Yeah. It’s gonna be okay.”

-Zedaph perspective-

Seeing a devil and an angel casually sitting together on a bench was an unexpected sight, or at least for Zedaph.

Xisuma, Zedaph and some of the other Hermits had come to the small town of Quintoak to gather some materials such as rare things such as pale oak saplings so they could grow a pale garden in Hermitcraft, and other materials for various reasons.

Since it was a couple days fight’ from home, the Hermits were staying overnight at the town, and since they’d already got all the materials they wanted, the hermits were free to just have some fun.

Zedaph was out and about, exploring the town and seeing the local attractions, when two people caught his eye.

Sitting on a bench was a tired-looking half-demon with yellow eyes, and sitting next to him with an arm around the demon was an angel almost fully covered with bandages with black oblivion eyes.

A fallen angel.

Zedaph had heard about them but had never seen one in real life. They were said to be insane and attack anyone on sight. But this angel looked sweet and afraid. Which didn’t really match what Zedaph’d heard about fallen angels.

But he’d also heard that demons, including half-demons, were deadly and manipulative.

So Zedaph wasn’t sure what he heard applied for these two.

Zedaph started to eavesdrop, to see what they were here about.

“… we don’t have time! You’re injured and if we don’t get help… you’ll-…”

Zedaph heard the demon let out a small sob.

We’ll that’s… interesting… Zedaph thought

“…we still have time. I’m not gonna die tomorrow. Or anytime soon.”

“Y-yeah. Sorry, I’m being stupid.”

“No, it’s not stupid! Caring about someone isn’t stupid.”

A pause.

“Yeah. It’s gonna be okay.”

Hmm. So the angel is injured and the demon wants to help, but can’t find anyone who’ll help the angel.

Zedaph thought of his home, Hermitcraft.

There were people who could help there. And no one minds what you are.

No one’s even asked where I came from, except for Xisuma.

Maybe he could help these people.

Zedaph revealed himself from where he was hiding ‘HI!’

The angel screamed, almost falling off the bench, and the demon let out a surprised hiss.

“I couldn’t help but overhear your conversation,” Zedaph continued, ignoring the look of loathing from the demon and the confusion from the angel “And I think you’ll be thrilled to know I can help in your dilemma!”

“Wh- you can?!” The demon said, and the angel smiled.

“I told you, Impulse! I told you we’d find someone!” The angel gasped.

“How do we know he’s telling the truth?!” The demon- Impulse -hissed.

“Because” Zedaph smiled “I can prove it! My name is Zedaph, and I come from a place called Hermitcraft. We have some people who know medical things there, and no one really minds what you are, or where you came from.”

“Sounds… nice.” The angel said with a smile. “Its nice to meet you, Zedaph. I’m 036- uh- Skizz.”

“…” Impulse narrowed his eyes “If your telling the truth, take us to it.”

The demon probably meant that to be condescending, but Zedaph just smiled again “Sure! First, we’ll have to check in with the admin, Xisuma Void.”

“Okay!” Skizz said, gladly following Zedaph. Impulse was wary, but followed as well.

“Who’s this?” Xisuma asked when Zedaph walked into Xisuma’s hotel room with the two other-plained beings.

“HI, I’m Skizz!” The bandaged angel said happily despite his rugged appearance. Impulse paused cautiously.

“Impulse.” He said, demon tail flicking away “Zedaph… Zedaph said you could help us?”

“In what way?” Xisuma said, voice crackly through the speakers of his helmet.

Zedaph briefly explained why Skizz and Impulse were here and how Zedaph thought he and Xisuma could help.

“I… don’t know.” Xisuma said, exasperated “Look, Skizz, was it? You seem like a nice guy… but…”

Impulse cut Xisuma short with a low warning growl.

“Please, Xisuma?” Zedaph whined

“Pleaseee?’ Begged Skizz with a pleading smile.

Taking a glance at Impulse, who looked just about ready to rip him apart, Xisuma sighed. “Okay. Yeah. I guess there’s no real reason not to. I’m just a bit cautious with new people, is all” The starseer admitted, slightly uncomfortable.

Impulse’s expression softened into something more like understanding “Yeah… I get that.”

“Can I see him?”

Zedaph smiled softly at Impulse “Of course. Doc’s been helping heal him well.”

Impulse flashed sharp-toothed smile back at the goat hybrid. Impulse hadn’t seen Skizz that much since they got to Hermitcraft about a month ago. He’d been healing and most of the time was unconscious. But over the time Impulse had been here, he’d realized that he didn’t need to be cautious. Though most hermits had rough exteriors, and with different personalities, they were all just like Skizz at heart.

“I’m so happy to hear that, Z.” Impulse said, opening to door to Skizz’s room. Zedaph had been kind enough to let the demon and angel stay at his place while they get settled.

“Skizzy!” Impulse called.

“Dippledop!!” The fallen angel yelled, running headfirst into Impulse’s arms, then they both fell to the floor, laughing. Skizz looked so much better than before. He had gotten rid of all the bandages except for a couple on his wings, only leaving behind scars accenting his arms and face.

“Buddy! You look so much better!” Impulse smiled wider.

“I feel so much better! What Doc did was even more magic than all the angelic figures could do EVER!”

“That seems a bit unlikely, but I’ll take a compliment.” Doc chuckled, appearing at the doorway “Also, Skizz, you shouldn’t be running around like that, you’ll open your wounds again.”

“I’ll run around all I like, thank you! I haven’t seen Impulse in so long!” Skizz said, trying to sound stern, but ruined it by giggling afterwards.
“Aw, listen to the doctor. He probably knows better than you.” Impulse told Skizz, pointing to the goat-creeper hybrid. “I mean, he’s a creeper AND a goat, AND wearing a lab coat, so probably smarter.” The demon laughed.

“My looks don’t define me.” Doc said, but smothering a smile. “Anyway, Skizz, back to bed.”

“Aw, fineeeeeeeeee” Skizz whined, sitting down on his bed with an overdramatic sigh.

Impulse laughed again. “I’ll see ya later, Skizzy! You get outta here tomorrow, right?”

“You make it sound like prison! But yeah.” Skizz smiled.

“I’ll ask Zed if he can show you around tomorrow.”

“I think he’s busy working on something.” Doc informed

“Okay, I’ll force Zed to show you around tomorrow.” Impulse said with a cheeky smile, then walked off.

Impulse put on the elytra he got from Zedaph, shook a rocket, then took off.

He took in a breath of air, wind whipping his face.

We’re finally safe.

We’re free to be ourselves here.

Impulse thought, his smile widening.

He could have friends here. He could hang out with Skizz every day, and laugh with Zedaph, and talk about redstone with Tango and just be him.

He wasn’t some devil scum, or some smart weirdo, or some freak. Here, he was a friend, and could have friends.

Impulse was finally… happy.

Hello ya'll! Thank ya for reading.
This fic is going to be short, with small chapters and only 3 of them.
This was kind of a side project i made while working on The Frostling, so its not much, but i really wanted to write some Impulse and Skizz trauma and fluff (purely platonic).
Hope you stick around for the next chapters!!

Wishing ya'll shooting stars and full moons,
