Chapter Text
Now that they were back at school, Eijiro didn't know how he'd act around Bakugo. He had to admit he was kind of nervous. He doesn't know how he'll resist kissing him all the time. Besides, aren't they only supposed to kiss on dates? Since they weren't boyfriends yet?
Eijiro doesn't know for sure, but he knows that he was more than excited to see Bakugo after being apart for a whole day. He had even gotten to school a little early, knowing Bakugo usually does the same.
He was sitting at his desk now, waiting for more people to walk into their home room. Only the usuals were in here, Iida and Yayarozu, and some other classmates.
A familiar head of bright hair came into the room, and he waved hello to Denki as he came to sit at his desk.
“Hey, man!” He said as Denki settled into his seat, turning around to rest his arms on his desk.
“Aw, you look better today. Did it all work out with Bakugo? Did you get to talk to him?”
Oh. Well, they did more than that. But he wasn't sure Bakugo was comfortable or out to anyone besides him yet.
“Yeah! We talked after school on Friday. We're all good now.”
“What was up? If you don't mind me asking.” Denki asked.
He blushed, “Oh! It was just a misunderstanding.”
Denki didn't look convinced, “That's all? Are you sure? You both seemed pretty hurt. Blasty was super asshole-y to me, too.”
Ah. Well, crap. He doesn't want to tell Denki that he was kind of in the middle of it.
“Yeah, I talked to him about that.”
“Did he say anything?”
He felt his face heat even further, and before he could say anything, Denki clicked his teeth.
“Ah, sorry. I'm kinda butting in your business, right? Hanta told me something about that.”
“Oh, no, man. You're just being a friend. It's okay.” He assured him.
Both of their heads snapped to the door then, Bakugo walking with his signature pout, and Eijiro couldn't help but smile.
He watched as Bakugo walked to his desk, put his bag down, and then made a beeline for where he was sitting.
“Hey, Bak--”
“Call me Katsuki, you moron.” Bakugo interrupted.
Eijiro blushed, “Oh! Um--Hi,Katsuki!”
“Can I call you Katuski, too?” Denki said for the sake of the tease.
“No,” Katsuki said, making Eijiro laugh.
“Well then, you can't call me Denki anymore.” Denki stuck his tongue out, turning back around to his desk.
“Like I ever fucking did.” Katsuki rolled his eyes, his attention going to him. He smiled, soft and warm, “Hey, Shitty Hair.”
“How was your Sunday?”
“It was boring as hell. Parents wanted to go out, so we went shopping and shit and then ate dinner.”
“Sounds better than mine! My moms made me clean my room.”
Katsuki chuckled, getting closer to sit on top of his desk.
“Bakugo! Get off of---” Iida started, but Bakugo groaned loudly to interrupt him.
“Class hasn't even started; get that stick out of your ass!”
Seeming not to want to argue with him, and knowing Katsuki was a stickler for rules, Iida turned back to what he was assuming was next month's homework. Katsuki might not seem like it, but he always follows the rules. He'd get off his desk as soon as the bell rang or their teacher walked in.
His stomach flip-flopped when Katsuki reached for the hand that was resting on his desk, intertwining their fingers for a second.
“Would have much rather hung out with you.”
Katsuki let go, but that doesn't mean his heart beat any slower.
“Maybe we can plan to hang out after school this week. I can um--plan it.” He said, blushing at the idea of another date.
“Wouldn't mind that,” Katsuki said back.
“Blasty! Are you eating lunch with us today?” Denki turned around to ask, and Katsuki cringed in response.
“What the hell do you think?”
“Can you ever give me a straight answer, dude?” Denki asked with a snort.
“Can you stop asking me stupid ass questions, dude?”
“You're so mean to me, Blasty.” Denki pouted, making Katsuki click his teeth.
“If I'm so fucking mean, then leave me the hell alone.”
Denki sighed a dramatic sigh, “Unfortunately, explosion boy, I have to be your friend by best friend association.”
Eijiro snorted at that. He loves the fact that he has friends now. Best friends. Possibly a boyfriend soon. He can't believe he's dating a guy. And that he's as cute and badass as Bakugo.
He watched as Bakugo glanced at the clock, rolling his eyes as he hopped off his desk.
“Bells gonna ring and shit. Better get to my desk before Four Eyes annoys me about it.”
He frowned, “I'll miss you!”
“I'll miss you too, Blasty!” Denki teases.
Bakugo glares at Denki as he flicks him off. Then, he turns to him, smirking.
It's a surprise to everyone in the room, but especially Eijiro himself, as Katsuki bends down, kissing him straight on his lips, so strong he could kinda feel his teeth.
“Bye, Eijiro.” He says smugly.
His heart jumps, “Um! Bye!” He says back, even though they'd be in class together all day.
He watches in a daze as Katsuki walks back to his desk, his cheeks on fire.
“Whoa, bro! I guess that talk went super well then.”
He laughed a little, “Yeah. We actually had our first date on Saturday.”
Denki's eyes lit up, “What? That's so cute! I'm happy for you.” He looked at him seriously then, “But um, Ei?”
“Yeah?”
“Does Bakugo want to kill me or something?”
“What? No? Why?” He snorted.
“'Cause bro, if looks could kill? Bakugo was seriously glaring at me when he was kissing you.”
Eijiro laughed a little. He guesses he has to tell him now.
“He um--thought we were dating. Cause you kissed me and stuff the other day?”
Denki's eyes went wide, “Oh shit! I'm sorry! I didn't know that. Oh crap, was the fight all my fault?”
He shook his head, “No, man. You’re all good.”
“I'll say sorry, I promise.”
Ah, he doesn't think Bakugo would appreciate that.
“No, that's okay. Thanks, though. It's all worked out already. And you guys seem good now, too, right?”
Denki smiled, “Yeah, back to normal.”
Eijiro smiled back, reaching over to ruffle Denki’s hair as their teacher walked in.
“Hi, Kirishima!” Eijiro heard from behind him at the lunch table. He had gotten out of training a little earlier than his classmates cause Aizawa wanted to go over some tips for his quirk, so he was now waiting for everyone at a table.
He turned around and found Ashido smiling brightly at him.
“Hey, Ashido! How have you been?”
“The more important question is, how have you been?” She raised her eyebrows up and down.
Oh. So she wants to ask about Bakugo?
He decided to play dumb, “What do you mean?”
“Oh, come on, we all saw that kiss from grumpy boy. I mean, I don't get the whole grumpy thing, but he is a cutie, unfortunately.”
He laughed, “He's not as bad as he seems, trust me.”
“So how long has that been going on?”
Ashido has always been one for gossip; she had even asked him what was up when he lost all his friends in middle school. She would talk to him sometimes at lunch when she was by herself. He'd always admired her for that, being a friend to everyone she could.
However, he doesn't really want this new thing with Bakugo to be “gossip”.
“Um, it just started, so I'm not sure what it is yet. And I'm not sure how comfortable Bakugo is with sharing yet, so…” He blushed.
Ashido’s face turned into one of understanding as she smiled warmly, “I totally get that. But uh, babe? I think kissing you in front of the whole class is sharing.”
Eijiro let out a chuckle, “That totally took me by surprise.”
Ashido nodded, “Well, I'm glad you have someone proud to kiss you. Everyone deserves something like that, especially you.”
He felt his heart well up, “Aw, thanks. That means a lot.”
Ashido reached over to pat his shoulder. “I'm happy for you. You seem to be doing a lot better.”
He grinned, “I am, actually. Thanks, Ashido.”
She frowned a little then, sighing a bit, “It might not be my place to say, but I know the stuff that happened in middle school really messed you up. But don't let those jerks make you scared of being happy, okay? If Bakugo is proud to be with you, then be proud to show it too!”
He nodded, taking that to heart. Mina was right. He’s only had this with Katsuki for one day, and he was already miles ahead in showing how much he liked him. And that stuff in middle school did mess him up. But how could it not? He was led on and cut off. He’s fine, and he understands about not being comfortable being out, but he didn’t deserve to be treated that way by someone he really cared about. He never understood why all his friends went with that jerk, but maybe they weren’t real friends in the first place. Now he has real friends like Denki and Sero and maybe Ashido, too.
“I'm really glad you trusted me to tell me all that stuff that was going on. How that jerk led you on and then dropped you like that? Not cool.”
“Yeah…” he said with an awkward smile, wondering if she could read his mind.
“He didn't deserve you, okay? Remember that.”
“I will. Thanks.” She always said exactly what he needed to hear.
Ashido got closer to give him a one-armed hug, “Offer still stands to tell me anything, okay?”
“That's really nice of you.”
“I'll let you get to your lunch now.” She said with a smile, walking away with a wave.
“Aw, I didn't know you guys were friends! She's pretty cool.” Denki said, next to him, suddenly, with his lunch tray. And of course, Katsuki was behind him with his permanent pout.
“Yeah, we went to the same middle school!” He beamed.
“What the hell did she want?” Katsuki asked with a frown.
“Just to talk, man!” He said, laughing.
“And she had to hug you about it?”
“Katsuki, she was just being a friend.” He glared.
“Whatever,” Katsuki said with a roll of his eyes as he sat next to him.
“Hey! Is it okay if I sit here, guys?” He turned around to see Sero with his lunch tray.
“Yeah! You don't have to ask every time, man.” Eijiro said.
Denki and Sero started talking, and his attention went to Katsuki.
“Hey, Katsuki.” He said.
“Hey,” he said back, and he thought Katsuki looked so precious as he puckered his lips for a kiss. He gladly gave him one, feeling warmth flutter in his chest.
“Did you have a good talk with Aizawa?” Katsuki asked.
Thinking of what Ashido said, Eijiro reached below the table, finding Katsuki's hand to intertwine their fingers.
He watched as Katsuki's face flushed with the prettiest shade of pink, as if he hadn't just initiated a kiss right before.
“Yeah, I did. Gave me a lot of good tips.”
“Why the hell did you leave so early?” Katsuki frowned at him, looking genuinely upset.
“I'm sorry, I should've waited for you.”
Katsuki shook his head, “It's whatever.”
He kissed Katsuki’s cheek anyway, all that warmth on his lips.
“My Ma made me bring extra fruit and shit. We can share or whatever, if you want.”
“Sure!” He beamed.
Katsuki looked around at the table, clicking his teeth. “Tomorrow, let's have lunch by ourselves.”
Denki, of course, shouted, “Hey! Just because you’re dating now doesn’t mean you can ditch us all the time.”
“I’ll ditch your ass right now if you don’t shut up.”
Eijiro laughed, and he turned to give Katsuki another kiss on his cheek.
“Ugh. Forget it. You guys are too cute. Go on all the dates you want.” Denki waved his hands in the air before flumping on the table dramatically.
He heard Katsuki let out a snort as he reached into his backpack, pulling out his lunch containers. His eyes lit up as he saw all the fruit Katsuki brought, all cut up into little shapes.
“Your mom is so cool, man.” He smiled.
“She’s alright,” Katsuki said, handing him a grape.
“Thanks!” He said.
“You'd better grab some fruit before I change my mind, Dunce Face. You too, Tape Arms.”
“Oh wow, he knows my name?” Sero teased, pretending to swoon with his hand over his heart.
“And your quirk!” Denki said.
Katsuki glared at them, clenching his teeth, but he couldn’t hide that small smile that came right after if he tried.
