Chapter Text
The wind outside starts to pick up. It's quite cold out today, no? Good thing Loonac has a fireplace in his room. It's great to keep warm, wouldn't want to catch a cold. Just feeling that warmth radiating from the sizzling fire and its crackling brings him peace. It also lights his room dimly.
Nufuli whispers to you: LOONACCCC
Nufuli whispers to you: LOOONANCNCNCCCC
Nufuli whispers to you: LOOONACCCC BROO RESPOND
Nufuli whispers to you: LOOOONAACC LOONAC LLONACCCC
Nufuli whispers to you: HELLOOO??? YOU AWAKEE?? LOOONACCCCCCCCUUHHHHH
The communicator which laid on the nightstand flashed with each incoming notification from Nufuli's messages. The repeating beep sound and bright light bothered Loonac enough to cause him to stir awake from his deep sleep.
“Huuhh, who's messaging me at this hour…” He said barely above a whisper, but his message was only directed towards oneself. He already knew well enough who it was, not like anybody else bothers enough to text him other than the only person he really talks to. He knew it was Nufuli and to be honest this wasn't even funny anymore. Nufuli was starting to build a streak of waking Loonac up. It's like he's a human alarm clock. But, there's no harm in Nufuli being one, other than how annoying it is for Loonac and how badly his sleep schedule is getting messed up.
You whisper to Nufuli: Thanks to you I am now. What do you even want?
Nufuli whispers to you: Thank the Command Blocks! Yo, so like I kind of need to carry some shulkers home… But like I have no inventory, nor enderchest space left. So, can you come help… pleaseeeeeee????
You whisper to Nufuli: You're joking.
You whisper to Nufuli: You expect me to come and help you, after waking me up early as fuck in the morning? AGAIN?
Nufuli whispers to you: LISTEN, I DIDN'T KNOW YOU WERE ASLEEP? OKAY? JUST PLEASEEE HELP ME BRO YOURE THE ONLY PERSON WHO ANSWERED ME…
You whisper to Nufuli: Probably cause I'm the only person who doesn't have you fucking muted. Also, IT'S 5 FUCKING AM. OF COURSE OTHER PEOPLE ARE SLEEPING.
You whisper to Nufuli: But yeah, okay, whatever I'll come help. Where you at?
Nufuli whispers to you: 5614, -2347
Loonac sighed after taking a look at the coords and got up to get ready. The location was fairly closer than the last battlefield one. So Loonac was definitely happier to see that, especially knowing how far Nufuli usually travels. Where'd Nufuli even get so many shulkers to the point he can't carry all of them back anyway? Well, maybe he'll ask him about that later. Loonac really doesn't wanna get spam pinged for another thousand times again.
Since the weather wasn't looking too sunny for the day, Loonac decided it was the best time to wear his signature outfit. You know, the classic: Blue sweater, black shorts, red scarf and gloves, black hat with a yellow bow… A simple yet casually stylish outfit.
Before leaving, Loonac made sure to clear up some of his Echest and inventory space, so he left most of his stuff in Nufuli's vault. The vault itself wasn't that… messy, one must say. Not like they had anything to really fill it up with anyway. Ever since the whole creative player incident thing they struggled getting a lot of resources. Not to mention Vanguard, well, more just Mugm and The Twins keep jumping them randomly when they're trying to explore or grind gear. Obviously they'd be kind of broke? I mean, they're not that broke, but still could definitely be in a better financial situation. Whatever, what mattered more to Loonac right now was living to see the next day, and meeting up with Nufuli too.
And so Loonac walked out of the base and took off, by foot of course. He could see the morning dew on the blades of grass and just as suspected it was pretty cold out today. It didn't help that Loonac just always felt cold no matter how hot it really was outside. Though, maybe he shouldn't have worn shorts out today. I mean, it's going to get hotter later in the afternoon or evening at least, right?
—
Maybe he should stop taking Nufuli so seriously.
Yes, he arrived at the destination, but it was just a destroyed village that seemed to still be burning brightly. The flames swayed in the direction of the wind as if being guided.
Where was Nufuli even at?
“Nufuli???” Loonac called out, cold morning air invading his lungs. It felt as if ice had started to form on his insides.
Just as he felt that the freezing breeze was going to cut off his breath, he heard someone shout.
“LOOOONAACC!!! YOU FINALLY CAME, BRO!!!” Nufuli ran up to him, and friendly punched him a couple of times… cause that's how friendships work around here…
“Woah- bro chill out! I don't have that much food on me, I can't outheal your uncontrollable joy, and punches…”
“Whooooopppss… My badd… So, came here to help me, righttt??”
Loonac looked Nufuli up and down. It's safe to say he definitely fought the entire village since he was missing a helmet.
“Okay, firstly… Did your dumbass really just fight another whole ass civilization? Not only all by yourself, but also with basically shit leftover armor since you broke most of the good pieces when you last fought Mugm? Are you fucking insane? Actually don't answer that, I'm not ready to be a therapist.”
“Well, a mace and some strength pots are all I needed! Plus, I desperately had to get some gear quickly cause we're fighting Mugm again in about 5 hours!”
“Excuse me, what? No, no, you know what, fuck you I'm not showing up. I'm not putting my life in danger again.”
“Pleaseeeeee, brooo!! It's gonna be worth it when we actually kill him!”
“You've said that like 7 times so far and never won.”
“Shusshhhh… maybe this time will be different…”
“If you promise to stop waking me up early as shit for no reason, maybe I will consider helping.”
“You have a deal!!! Now… come this way, these shulkers won't walk home all by themselves!”
“Whatever bro…”
There were items left on the ground, probably about to despawn around everywhere. Every house you looked in, behind every corner you passed. Just how many players did Nufuli kill? And for what? For gear, really? They didn't do anything wrong, did they? Why did they have to die?
“Okaayyy, right in this house are a bunch of shulkers, so get ready for a long way back home…” Nufuli spoke, breaking Loonac from his trance.
As Loonac stepped foot in the house he wasn't surprised to see more items on the ground. He kind of felt bad for these players, but in a server like this, it is to kill or be killed.
In front of him stood a bunch of shulkers stacked up on each other.
“Wow, that's quite the handful of shulkers… But I'll be able to handle carrying them back, I think.”
“You're literally a life saver, bro! Thank you!”
And before either of them could realize it, they were already in the forest on their way back home.
“Hey, Nufuli? I have a question.” Loonac broke the silence, a bit timid though.
“Hmm? What is it?”
“Why did you kill those civilians? They didn't do anything wrong, right? So, why did you do it?”
“...Well in a server like this one, you must kill to survive, otherwise you'll be the one killed by the one trying to survive.”
And just as Loonac thought. Nufuli always answered those questions with that exact response. Kill or be killed.
“Ah, yeah… that makes sense…”
Maybe Loonac should just give up questioning Nufuli's unreasonable slaughter. I mean he doesn't truly know what the ideal answer would even be when asking him about killing innocent people. Maybe Nufuli really does think that it is kill or be killed afterall. That would explain why he always answers with the same thing.
“Alright, but if one day I wake up with a whole ass army outside our base because you killed their allies or civilians, I'm jumping out the nearest window and dipping to The Farlands. Got that? Good.”
Nufuli chuckled at Loonac's statement, thinking it was a joke. Maybe it was, but that depends on how well Loonac slept that possibly upcoming night, though.
—
“FINALLYYY WE’RE HEREEE!!” Nufuli cheered as he saw their base render in the distance.
“That walk was longer than I thought it would be…”
“Yeah, I think it's been like 2 hours… which means we have 3 hours left to prepare!!!”
“Yeah, but, am I going to jump in the fight this time or watch from the sidelines again?”
“Well, just like last time, I planned that you will be placing down shulkers again while indeed watching from the sidelines. I don't want you to get hurt and an easier victory is also an ideal idea!”
“Alright, understood…”
Loonac placed down the shulkers in the main grand hall next to Nufuli’s.
“So, like… I’ll go back to my room now, okay…? Please don’t disturb me this time.” Loonac requested Nufuli to not do so.
“BRO, are you ever gonna help me prepare for fights…”
“Maybe when they aren’t so pointless.”
“WHAT DO YOU MEAN POINTLESS??? I’M LITERALLY THIS CLOSE TO BEATING MUGM AND TAKING VANGUARD DOWN?!”
“Nufuli… we talked about this before… Who’s to say you can even beat Vanguard Number 1 if you can’t even manage to defeat Mugm yet?” Loonac stated.
“Whatever arguing is pointless anyway. Especially with you. I’ll see you in three hours.”
Nufuli didn’t say anything in return as Loonac turned away and went to his room. Ah, when will Nufuli realize that others don’t have the same energy and motivation as him? He can’t keep dragging his poor allies around like this through mud and quick sand. Nufuli can’t help but fear that one day he’ll end up arguing with Loonac and the next his only teammate left will be gone just like his last, Dimo.
Dimofyy, his former teammate, didn’t say much before leaving. But what he did say hurt. Just how Loonac’s words hurt too, just now. But maybe he does deserve it? He ends up hurting his teammates more than they will ever hurt him just by how much excess work they have to put up with and with how many fights or ambushes they have to deal with just by being associated with someone like him.
“Sorry, Loonac.” Nufuli said barely above a whisper after hearing the door to his friend’s room slam closed.
But now is no time for him to mope. He had a fight to get ready for and he needs to be in the right mood to win! Maybe he can talk this out with Loonac after the fight or after getting prepared if there’s any time left? Or some other day.
Just hopefully he won’t be too late when the time comes.
—
Loonac POV:
The door shut behind him with a loud slam sound. Loonac isn’t the biggest fan of arguing with any people in general because it’s always been exhausting. But it’s even more exhausting when it is with Nufuli. He never likes to admit when he’s wrong.
Loonac sighed and laid back down in his bed. He best get some well deserved rest during these 3 hours they have left. Well, technically less than 3 hours since they have to be there at that time.
Part of him can’t help but feel bad for arguing with Nufuli, I mean, Loonac knows he’s trying his best to keep them safe and be a good teammate. But, in the end he’s just hurting both of them. Truly, he hurts himself the most. Because most just end up leaving him. They leave him because he’s being himself. But staying with someone like him was never of much help. That’s probably what Dimo thought too…
Loonac kind of felt bad for what he said now. It probably reminded Nufuli of when Dimo left, that’s cause he heard them argue the night before about some stupid fight or something like that. It probably was more though. Nonetheless he didn’t want to hurt Nufuli like this but he needs to learn that what he is doing is wrong. Unfortunately, though, a person can’t change if that’s the way they always were meant to be.
“I’m sorry, Nufuli. But I don’t know how much longer I can deal with these life threatening conditions.”
Maybe it’s time to rest now. He needs to be energized for that fight coming up soon. Maybe he’ll get to talk with Nufuli more about this subject. Just hopefully it won't escalate into a heated argument.
Who knows maybe Nufuli will finally find out how to change for the better and stop killing innocent players raising his bounty by the thousands.
Just hopefully he won’t be too late when that time comes.
—
Nufuli wiped a bead of sweat dripping down his forehead after placing the last shulker needed in his enderchest.
To be honest, part of him didn’t even want to bother Loonac anymore. Maybe it'd be better if he stayed behind, here, at home. But it'd be better if he was safer with extra restocks so as much as it pains him, he has to drag Loonac along. I mean it's all going to be worth it in the end! Right?
He approached Loonac's room, and knocked quietly on the door. Loud enough to be heard, though.
“Hmm, who's there??” A tired voice answered from the other side.
“C'mon, Loonac!! We're going to be late to the fight!”
“Auughhh… fine… coming.”
And with that, Nufuli headed straight to the exit to wait for his friend.
—
Loonac got up and put on his shoes and main accessories. Nothing too fancy, just his casual look.
Next to the elevator lay a few shulkers, all named after the contents they held. Next to them was no one but Nufuli, but this time he looked less… energetic? Maybe it's just his sleep schedule again.
“So, I gotta carry these?”
“Yup! Hurry up though, we have about 1 hour and 45 minutes to get to the same battlefield as last time and it's quite far…”
“Bro… we're not making it there in time…”
“Well, normally we wouldn't… BUTTTTT, like I think the leader of that village I slaughtered earlier, dropped an elytra upon their death so you can use it!!!”
“Wow, keep playing music in my ears, bro! I like the sound of that!”
“Yupppp, here, take some rockets from my shulker!” Nufuli said as he placed down a red shulker, filled with rockets.
Loonac doesn't know how long it's been since he has touched an elytra, but it felt damn nice to have one again!
The cold air brushed through their hair. Minutes passed, rockets draining by the second.
They landed at the same spot as last time. Just hopefully they'll be victorious at the end of this fight. Or at least they'll be able to get back home alive.
“You got invis shulker?” Nufuli asked.
“Yeah, it's right here.” Loonac said as he placed it down.
“Alright, just like last time, splash invis and make sure you don't get caught. Got it?”
“Aight.”
