Chapter Text
To say the least, Trixie was annoyed. She had quickly realised after the chocolate accident that all of the other compartments were full, which means she was stuck with all three read heads, who for a matter of fact were all giggling at her annoyance. They spend the rest of the train going back and forth with Trixie arguing that chocolate frogs were not supposed to be wasted for pranks while the boys argued that they were and juniper watched looking as entertained as ever. Sure, she found it funny, but she didn't necessarily like being the butt of the joke.
once they were out onto the platform the boys seemed to disappear, leaving Trixie with juniper who had a wide grin on her face as they followed the large gatekeeper to the boats, on which they were to go to the castle. "it's so pretty!!" a girl who was sitting next to her in the boat half yelled and yes, it was very pretty. She shared her boat with juniper and two other random girls. Trixie stared at the castle. It was huge like the ones that she saw on the telly that, they had got when she was five from one of the little vintage stores that her dad went to.
They were led to the large door by Hagrid and the door opened to reveal a tall man with dark hair " the firs- years! Professor Holland" said Hagrid "thank you Hagrid. follow me students" the professor announced in an almost flamboyant way and turned to lead them inside the castle. The entrance was just like how her papa had described in all his stories about their time at school. The stone walls were lit bright with the torches giving it a comfortable feeling. She liked that.
They followed the professor into an empty room where he started the long speech that she'd already heard from her parents. She zoned out the professor's voice and stared around the room. It was boring to say the least, it had the same stone walls as the rest of the castle and torches all along it like in story books with preppy princesses that she read when she was five. she liked to think of herself as more mature now though her dads just laughed whenever she made that statement, which annoyed her to bits.
By the time she came out of her thoughts the professor had left the chamber and there was already a huge chatter that had spread throughout the group. most of them nervous though Trixie had no clue why. She knew that what house she was in didn't matter much. She had a whole family who were all in different houses, but she knew that it mattered to some people mostly the more traditional families as her dad had put it. The chatter stopped and turned into awe as the ghosts started flowing in towards the great hall. She giggled as she heard juniper shriek beside her. "Hey! don't laugh! those things are floating!!" juniper shrieked at her. "They're not things... they're ghosts. They're basically the same as us... just dead" Trixie replies still giggling "that's not any better!!"
"Settle down now, the sorting ceremony is about to begin; children form a line and follow me please" Professor Holland had returned, and the ghosts had all moved through the wall, juniper gave Trixie a look and joined the line. Trixie joined right behind her a grin plastered on her face.
As the line moved, Trixie's mouth dropped in awe at how large the great hall was. The dark sky lit alight by the twinkling stars was her favorite, she wondered if she could make herself float high enough to touch one of the candles. She would definitely try that one day. Then she spotted her dads at the top of the hall and raised her hand in an excited wave grinning wide. Sirius grinned back waving back while Remus just smiled and gave a short wave.
Her eyes finally drifted to the hat that Professor Holland had placed on the stool. She knew that the hat would start singing, though she didn't know how horrible the song was gonna be. She stared eyes wide as the hat started singing lyrics of the song that she had heard Remus hum once. She had the urge to clog her ears as everyone started to sing along from the tables but then it came to a stop, and she heard juniper let out a relieved sigh.
"That song sounded like something my brother sings in the shower" he heard someone say making Trixie wonder who their brother was and why he would sing something so horrible. She watched Professor Holland move forward holding out and shaking a long roll of parchment in which Trixie suspected was all of their name. Then that made her wonder if Hogwarts knew the name of every wizard to ever exist. She would ask her dad that.
Professor hollands voiced bounded through the hall "when I call your name you may step forward and put on the hat to be sorted, Gray, Ariana!" a girl with jet black hair tied into a ponytail stepped up the stair to sit on the stool a few seconds later the hats voiced boomed through the hallway "RAVENCLAW!!" the girl grinned as she skipped toward the table filled with cheering schoolmates. "Diggory, Cedric" a boy with a nervous grin on his face stepped up next, "HUFFLEPUFF" the boy skipped off towards his table.
One by one the students called forward, Trixie jumped on the balls of her feet in excitement as she waited. "Weasley, Fred!" her face perked up at the name of one of the boys from the train. The redhead bounded up the stair's confidence radiating. "GRYFFINDOR!" The hat yelled after only two second of being placed on Fred's head his brother followed next with the same pattern. Trixie saw the two boys high fiving as they sat next to each other.
"Briar, Juniper!" juniper stepped up the staircase her earlier cockiness gone and replaced with a nervous energy. she sat down on the stool and screwed her eyes shut as the hat was placed a few moments of silence then "GRYFFINDOR!" she bounded up and skipped off towards where the twin was and started excitedly chatting with them. "Davies, Roger!" another boy walked up the stairs "RAVENCLAW" "Lupin, Calytrix!" she stepped forward as her name was called, she looked at her dads as she went up the stairs and saw Sirius giving her a thumbs up and an encouraging nod. she sat on the stool, and the hat was placed on her head.
She immediately heard the small voice mumbling "ah, quite a good mind I see would fit right in Ravenclaw... ah but the thirst for knowledge isn't strong as adventure... well then- GRYYFINDOR!" the hall was filled with the sound of applause and whistling most likely from her papa she stood up happily skipping towards her table where she sat next juniper. "George, I think this is one of those good omens mum talks about." Fred said elbowing his brother "yah I guess so Fred!" George replied.
