Chapter Text
You woke up. It was 3 in the morning and rain had started to splash against the glass.
You would have just ignored it if you hadn't left the window open.
You close to the window, not allowing any rain to seep into the office.
It's when you're turning around to return to your desk. When you notice the movement coming from levi. You dart over hoping that he finally woke up.
Levi attempted to sit up, slowly Just barely managing.
"Hey," You apoke softly "the squat's been worried about you.-"
"Is, oluo dead"
You paused before answering.
"Yes"
The question in itself was hard to answer, and you couldn't look Levi In the eyes as if you said it.
He ran, a hand through his hair.
"Three in six months."
"What?"
"Isabel, furland, now oluo."
"Oh"
It was so hard to find an appropriate response to that especially from the person who carried out so deeply.
It's probably time to change the subject, you think to yourself.
Noticing the dried blood on his bandages. You grab a roll of bandages. Then explaining.
"I probably need to change out your bandages is that alright? "
We pulled a chair over to him and wait for his response.
"Ok" He sticks out his hand waiting for you to hand in the roll of bandages
Seeing Levi's half a awake state.
You respond.
"Let me do it"
Levi Process is the idea for a moment then answers.
" fine "
You begin undoing the old bandages on his torso. Processing how the wound has healed over the last few hours.
Then noticing other scars in various stages of healing, some looks like they were only gained a few weeks ago.
"So," You said softly "Can you tell me a little about your friends?" You smiled Levi didn't meet your eyes.
"Thay were all Amazing people"
"Oh they sound like a great friends" You said as you methodically worked on the bandages.
Than asked.
"Did you ever have a lover?"
"no" He replied flatly.
You look up at him. "Dam I think what's someone as cute as you. You have a partner? You laughed slightly trying to keep the mood up.
You gazed down continuing on your work.
But Levi just look at you.
And a little red, he said.
"You think I'm cute?"
You stared up at him now, a little red yourself.
"Yea"
You didn't meet his eyes but you were sure he could tell you were red and here's the part where you realize you kinda messed up. You could give up on everything now and move on with your life. But it's too late for that. You're in deep with this one and no way to get out.
You finished bandaging his torso and tying off the bandages. Then stood up and squeeze this hand.
"I'm gonna run down to the cafeteria, real quick. If you want tea or anything? I don't think you've eaten yet today."
"Just bla- Black tea is fine."
He was still bushing from the earlier statements and now, stuttering over his words; How adorable?
You stood up waving Goodbye, then walked out the door closing it softly behind you.

When you finally made it out of the room. You ran one hand through your hair For walking down to the cafeteria.
Despite it being about 3:30 in the morning. There were a handful of stragglers or at least to those who could not sleep.
Walking over to the small tea basket then,
heating up a small bottle of water.
Then grabbing 2 different kinds of tea, a black tea like what levi asked for, and a Green Tea for yourself.
Before returning to the medbay.

"Heya" You slid open the door.
"Are you feeling better?"
"With you around, yes."
You smiled to his response and handing him his cup of tea.
"Good to hear. :) " You responded.
"Because I think you need to know this. We're going to have to go out on another mission in about a month less then, Give or take."
Levi look at you for moment
Before you continued.
"Unfortunately, even though you are still going to be in the process of healing, whenever this mission does take place, you are going to have to come along."
You look at levi expecting him to be mad upset, just for him to be ok with this.
"I know" He responded
"This wouldn't be the first time and I don't think it'll be the last"
He spoke Mournfully, on the subject.
That last word left a knot in your chest. If add insult to the injury he continued.
"I think the rest of my squad will be fine and I think I'll manage to live Because we have a talented medic like you"
"Thanks" You paused for a moment and then continued "You know, I really thought coming here would be a death sentence but I think I found quite the opposite."
You reach forward and grabbed his hand and smiled
"I'm happy I got to have this chat with you. Good night, levi I'll see you in the morning."
You squeeze this hand before standing up and leaving a soft kiss on his forehead.
"Good Night and ... love you"
Levi smiles slightly, then asks?
"Love you too, but we're are you going?"
"To my own bed I don't want the wake up Tomorrow, with more back pain than I already have. Sleeping at that desk was not a wise decision and I'd rather get what little sleep I can. I suggest you do the same.
See you in the morning, love" You smile.

You wave Good night. Then creep out of the room. You creep down the halls and make it to your own room. shortly thereafter.
You lie down on your own bed and face the ceiling. Maybe you can make this work. You don't have long, you know that the mission will end. You'll be sent back. But maybe this can work for now. For now, you can be happy with what little you have and see to it that you can at least save some people.
They're not too different from you.
You smile to yourself and imagine the happy life you could have here with him.
