Chapter Text
Lotus Dragon Cookie hummed to themself as they played their mandolin, perched in their nest as they strummed, playing a song they had memorized such a long, long time ago...
Back to when they were not the only one.
... It was fine, though, they were fine with being the only one.
IIt wasn't like they got looked down upon by the other dragons or anything, no, it was not that.
It just felt a bit lonely, 'is all.
Well, they were not lonely- how could they be lonely?
Whenever they went out of the palace, everyone always greeted them, bowed, gifted them, and even more then that!
However... Even if that was true, which it was... They had not gone out of their safe, comfortable palace in quite some time...
Oh well, they could ask Hydrangea about it when she came along.
The last time that Lotus Dragon had seen Hydrangea was this morning.
'' Oh, Great Dragon! ,, Hydrangea Cookie's voice replayed in their head. '' I am going to be a while for you, I am going to teach Snake Fruit how to properly serve you. ,,
It was nice that she was trying to be friendly with Snake Fruit, however it might be a bit too soon to do so in Lotus' opinion.
They still flinched and always cowered beneath the dragon whenever they could see them...
Lotus Dragon had thought it would be best if they had gotten some space and they could wonder and roam around the palace if they wanted to look at things.
Now that the dragon thought about it, Hydrangea was probably just desensitizing them like one would do a skittish licorice horse. (Mmm tastey red licorice 😛)
Or maybe she was just getting to know the serpent.
Oh well, it was fine, anyway.
Not like they could do anything about two of their servents getting to know eachother...
Or anything...

THIS MORNING
Snake Fruit was sleeping after spending the whole night reading, (Is that not familiar) snuggling up to the warm bedsheets, holding an extra pillow in their arms and between their legs, gently pressing their snout against it.
The sepent had felt their warm blanket seemingly get warmer, melting into it and sighing, rolling onto their stomach and arching their back against the feeling, even a small little purr leaving them.
Hydrangra was about to wake them up, but seeing the way they just adored the warmth from her hand...
She guessed it could wait...
After a bit over half and hour, Snake Fruit had finally woken up, hissing and rolling away from the touch, acting like they hate it.
"Do not touch me...!" They hissed, their scales bristleing up, getting out of bed and straightening out their robes.
"You do not need to act so turse, you know." Hydrangea tried, gently taking their hands and leading them out to the backside of the palace, "The Great Dragon is mercyful to all who see reson."
Snake Fruit obliged, following after her sleepily, still a bit drowzy as anyone could tell from their droopy eyelids, slow and sluggish movements, and their pupils that were dilating into small circles and then into thin slits, unable to take a steady form at the time.
"Why are you so tired?" Hydrangea asked, stepping outside of the large palace, still facing the serpent. "You did not stay up all night, did you?"
"...I have not." Snake Fruit muttered, their small steps turning more into strides as they followed closer behind, closing their eyes. "I am jusst a bit tired, iss all."
Hydrangea squinted at them before ahe turned, facing in front of her as she dragged them along towards Hortensia Town, making sure they were close behind her.
"Where are we going sso early in the morning." The serpent commented to itself, scratching under their headpiece and behind their horn, yawning again.
"We are going to bond!" Hydrangea Cookie said cheerfuly, continue to pull the snake along with her. "It is only right to get to know my fellow coworkers better, after all."
Snake Fruit rolled their eyes at that, slouching over slightly, their stride falling back into a shuffle. "And why are we doing that at eight out of all early hourss?"
"Oh, silly, it is seven, no eight!"
"... You manage to prove my point further on accident then you do intentionally..."
Snake Fruit suddenly fell over from leaning over to much, grabbing at Hydrangea's waist to catch themself.
The woman gasped, slapping their hands off from around her, letting them fall to the ground. "I will have you know that that is only for one person and you are not them!" She said, fanning herself off with the small folding fan she carried around.
"Owwie..." The snake muttered, still face-planted into the path made of stones and concrete, a small whimper leaving them.
Hydrangea looked away sheepishly, holding her fan up to cover her mouth as she offered them a hand to help them up. "Sorry..."
Snake Fruit took her hand, pulling themself up shakily, collapsing against her chest.
"Again, I said that is only for one, big, beautiful dragon and you are not them, get off." Hydrangea said coldly, her tone fading to a slower, more wishful one around the middle, however turning harsh near the last segment.
The serpent pulled away, dusting themself off and standing more stable. "Calm down. The Blue Dragon iss not even that attract-"
"-Yestheyare." Hydrangea interrupted, fanning herself again. "They very much are. You just are mad that your pervious master hated you and then threw you out into the ocean because you misbehaved."
"Do not bring that up...!" Snake Fruit hissed before thinking about how they were getting worked up by someone who probably gets off to a dragon. "I fear we have bigger thingss to talk about here."
Hydrangea started dragging them along again into the outskirts of the large town. "Like what?"
"...Forget about it." They muttered as they looked around, their form cowering slightly.
"You are doing that thing again."
"What 'thing' are we talking about here?"
"Your little mannerism you do whenever you are in a big, crowded space- oh, we are here!"
Hydrangea tugged the other into a restaurant - or atlest it seemed like one - and sat them down at a booth before taking her own seat infront of them.
"I do hope you are hungry! The food they make here is very good." She spoke out, resting her hands and arms on the table as she hummed softly to herself.
"Alright then, I know you did not being me here jusst to 'bond,' what iss it that you wisssh to disscusss?"
Hydrangea looked around before a smirk crossed her face, holding up her fan to block anyone reading their lips. "So... You know the whole thing with Longan Dragon, right? I have heard that The Great Dragon had actually did all the work..."
"Yess, I have sseen that they were the mosst productive, what about it?"
"They must be so strong, stronger then what I thought... I mean, I cleaned them a few days ago and they were so muscular...!" Hydrangea gawked, her tone becoming more excited.
"Let'sss not get out undercloth in a twisst, now, there iss no reasson on why you are getting sso worked up and will not jusst sssay you like them." Snake Fruit murmured, taking out their own fan and fanning themself off.
Hydrangea's face flushed rose-red, pushing her fan up to cover her cheeks and nose. "Y-you could tell...!?"
"It iss quite a bit obviouss..." Snake Fruit rolled their eyes yet again, leaning back in the booth. "I will not be talking about your little crusshess, Hydrangea Cookie."
"You are also a Cookie, you numbskull."
"You enjoy it, I don't."
"Well, I would enjoy something else more, it is just a bit impossible to do." Hydrangea said, lowering her fan as a waiter approached.
Snake Fruit zoned out as their 'friend' started talking with the waiter, something about how they haven't seen eachother in such a long time... Blah-bleh-bleh...
They then got hit in the head with a menu by Hydrangea, the waiter having walked away by the time.
"You are so rude, Snake Fruit, I will not be having you be so moody and bratty in the Lotus Paradise." Hydrangea huffed, crossing her arms as a quiet 'hmph!' left her
"Eaugh- what isss thisss obsssesssion with you hitting me conssstantly..‽"
"You make a funny face when I do, and also find something you would like to eat, I gotten a special menu for you." Hydrangea snickered slightly, patting the snake's headpiece.
"You are paying thisss time." Snake Fruit pouted, or atleast something that some-what resembles it, their face muscles copying what would look like one with their small snout.
The serpent opened the menu, scanning over the options, some rabbit flavored jellys, a good one in their opinion, polliwog peices, 'never tried before, sparrow conserve, that sounded nice enough.
"Sso... Iss thisss all artificial or iss it actually really ingredientsss?"
"They are all natural."
"I ssee..."

After the two ordered their drinks and food, they waited for a bit in silence before Snake Fruit huffed before they leaned in, resting most of their weight on the table and folding their hands, putting their chin on top of them.
"You are thinking of sssomething. What iss it?"
"Pond Dino has been a bit sad lately and would hardly even play with me ever since the end of the War... I was wondering why..."
The serpent thought for a bit before answering. "Were they not being all buddy with Dragon Eye? Maybe they jusst missss their friend... Oh well, there iss an 'end' in friendsship anyway. They will get over it."
Hydrangea hit their snout again, gasping slightly. "Be nice! Well... I guess you were correct on how they miss Dragon Eye... When we get back I will ask The Great Dragon about if they can have a play date!"
"Oww..." Snake Fruit held their snout before leaning back in the booth again, tilting their head up. "Sstop doing that..."
