Chapter Text
"Daddy!" said the four-year-old girl.
"What's wrong, Vanilla Pie?"
"Where's my mommy?"
"Your..." He stopped.
"My mommy! Why isn't she here?"
"Well... She's gone..."
"Gone?"
"Yes, she's gone. Unfortunately, she was very busy and had to leave..."
"Can I see her?"
"I don't know..."
"..." She lowered her head.
"Come on, it's time for bed." He took her in his arms.
"But I'm not tired!"
"It's time to go to bed."
"Can you read me a story before I go to sleep?"
"Of course." He carried her to his room and laid her on his bed. She lay down and pulled the blanket over herself while he picked up a book.
"It's the story of a hungry caterpillar..."
___
Pure Vanilla was at his desk, looking at a photo of his daughter on it. He stopped looking at the photo and continued with his homework.
The door opened and he looked up. He saw Vanilla Pie. She approached his desk.
"Dad, can I play with the sheep today?"
"Of course you can." He gave a gentle smile. "Just be careful, okay?"
"Thanks! I'm going!"
"See you later..."
The girl ran down the halls and outside, heading towards the sheep pen.
After a few minutes of running, she panted but caught her breath and went to see the sheep.
The sheep jumped for joy when they saw her. Vanilla Pie approached and hugged and petted some of them.
She spotted a blue figure in the distance.
"Shadow Milk!" She squealed with joy.
"Hello Vanilla Pie~" Shadow Milk flew over the sheep, who looked at him.
"You're back?"
"Yes!" He laughed.
"I was going to play with the sheep, but... It would be more comfortable to go somewhere else..."
"Do you have any ideas?"
"My balcony."
"Okay!"
Wait... what?!" Shadow grabbed Vanilla Pie and flew towards her room.
They arrived, and Vanilla Pie stepped onto the balcony floor before turning around and yelling at Shadow Milk.
"Are you crazy or what?!"
"Well, yes, I'm a clown." He laughed.
"I was about to die!"
"I had you."
"Anyway..."
She sat down on the floor and looked at Shadow Milk, who did the same.
"So, what do you want to talk about?"
"I don't remember..."
"Seriously?" He groaned.
"It's your fault..." She turned her head and looked up at the sky.
"..."
"Let's do it again. I ask a question, and you ask one in return?"
"If you want..."
"What's your relationship with my dad?"
"Enemy... I think..."
"I think? What do you mean?"
"Long story..."
"I have my whole life ahead of me, explain!" She looked at him.
"I don't want to talk about it..."
"Okay..."
"It's my turn... Are we friends?"
"Yes... It's my turn... Were you close to my dad at some point?"
"Yeah, you could say that..."
"Okay..."
"What's your favorite food?"
"Honey cake."
"I see..."
"So you know my mother?"
"What?" He turned around.
"I figured... If you were close to my father, you must know her..."
"And why not his other friends?"
"I asked them, but they don't know, and my father won't say anything... Or almost nothing..."
"..."
"Do you know her?"
"You could say that..."
"Really?!" She stood up very quickly.
"Yeah..."
"Who is she? Why did she leave? Answer me! I have to know."
He stood up. "Calm down, I'm not going to tell you, at least not now. Besides, I have to go."
"What? Okay..." She looked sad.
"Don't worry, I'll tell you... Someday..." Then he flew off.
The girl watched him leave and went to her room.
___
Pure Vanilla was reading a document when the door opened.
"What is it now?" Pure Vanilla asked, he was too busy.
"It's me~"
Pure Vanilla recognized the voice. "Shadow Milk... Is that you?"
"Yes, it's me! The grand master of deception himself!" He smiled and laughed.
"What do you want?" He looked up from his paper.
"We need to talk." He stopped smiling.
"What do you want to talk about?"
"About Vanilla Pie..."
Pure Vanilla raised an eyebrow.
"What is it?"
"Should we tell her?"
"What do you mean?"
"She wants to know about her... Mother..."
"Oh... I thought she didn't care..."
"You really thought she didn't want to know?"
"I didn't know..."
"What should we do?! If we tell him, we'll have to tell the others! After what I did, your friends are going to hate me..."
"..."
"And you won't want to see me again... Especially after what I did..."
"The problem... Shadow Milk... is that I don't even know why you did it!"
"It's... I'll explain..."
"All right... It's best to tell him..."
___
Vanilla Pie was reading a book; it was about a caterpillar.
There was a knock at the door, and a voice called out, "It's me, Vanilla. I'd like to talk to you." It was Pure Vanilla.
Vanilla Pie opened the door and saw her father and her blue friend.
"What is it?" she asked.
Pure Vanilla looked at Shadow Milk, then at her daughter. "I have to tell you something..."
"What is it?" She made an "O" with her mouth.
Pure Vanilla crouched down and looked at Vanilla Pie, while Shadow Milk stayed behind her with her arms crossed.
"You wanted to know who your mother is... Is that right?"
"Yes! That's right!" She looked at Shadow Milk, then at her father.
"So... So your mother is..."
"Who is she?!"
"It's me," Shadow Milk said matter-of-factly.
"Huh?" She turned her head toward Shadow Milk, then toward Pure Vanilla.
"It's him..."
"But... why did you leave?"
"I was scared..." Shadow Milk exclaimed.
"Scared of what?"
"Scared of becoming a bad parent..."
"Ah! But I'm glad you're back." She smiled.
"Me too..."
___
After five days, the Elders arrived. Ever since they'd heard the news about the child, they came every month to check on her.
Pure Vanilla waited for her friends, alongside Shadow Milk, who was grumbling.
The friends arrived, but as soon as they saw the beast, they went on guard and almost charged at Shadow Milk before Pure Vanilla stopped them.
"Wait!" shouted Pure Vanilla.
"Pure Vanilla, are you blind or what?! It's the Beast of Deceit!" shouted Golden Cheese.
"I know... And we'd like to talk to you..."
"Talk to us?" exclaimed the Elders in unison.
"Yes, exactly, please sit down."
They sat down, keeping their distance from the enemy.
"What did you want to tell us?" asked Dark Cacao.
"I wanted to tell you the truth about Vanilla Pie..."
"With Shadow Milk?" White Lily replied.
"You'll see..."
"So we'll wait, I really want to know!" Ria Hollyberry
"All right... Just let me think... So... Shadow Milk and I had a relationship together-"
"What?!" they cried in unison.
"So... You were a couple?!" Golden Cheese exclaimed.
"Exactly," Shadow Milk said.
"So... Since we were a couple... We did things, and... Shadow Milk got pregnant..." Pure Vanilla explained.
"Why didn't you say anything?" White Lily asked.
"Shadow Milk was in denial about her pregnancy..."
"In denial about her pregnancy?" Dark Cacao wondered.
"It's being pregnant without realizing it... And you don't have the symptoms of pregnancy..."
"Was that a reason to leave?" Golden Cheese asked.
"Shadow Milk was stressed, and a lot happened, so he left..."
"So the day we came... Shadow Milk had left the castle?" White Lily said.
"Yes, that's right..."
"So that's why you were more... lost in thought..."
"I just wanted to be with Shadow Milk..." Pure Vanilla muttered.
"And the little one knows?" "Asked White Lily
"Yes... We told him," said Pure Vanilla.
"I never thought you'd be in a relationship, Pure Vanilla. Especially not with a beast," confided Golden Cheese.
"Love can be very strange..." whispered Pure Vanilla.
After this conversation, Pure Vanilla's friends left.
Pure Vanilla turned to Shadow Milk and began to talk. "Is everything alright, Blue Bird?"
"Yeah... It's just strange..."
"Weird?"
"Not so long ago, we were still madly in love with each other... And then... Everything changed..."
"I know... But that's in the past now..."
"I'm still glad you accepted me." He smiled.
...And the two kissed...
The end~♡
