Chapter Text
— Saturday, a day after that certain encounter.
Since that night, Sungho can’t stop thinking about that interaction with the band guy. What was he thinking back there? He knows how much he depends on his own life (or the phone’s life, both works) with the charger. And yet, he just blindly gave his only important thing to a freaking stranger.
It also doesn’t help that guy is annoyingly attractive too, maybe Sungho was too blinded by the beauty and got brainwashed to think he needs it more than himself.
And now at his own place,
“What the fuck should I do now?”
Sungho talks to himself while looking at his now dead phone. The power dies just now, right when he wants to play a videogame. He stares blankly at the red battery icon, a signal that it needs to be charged.
He sighs hard.
…Take a good rest, phone. See you again on Wednesday,
If that pretty boy doesn't forget.
The phone is now placed at his nightstand and goes to the living room to use the laptop. Then, Sungho swims through the internet with the bigger device. He doesn’t actually like to use that thing at home. It reminds him of work, even when he is clearly logging in Netflix and not Google Sheets right now.
He grabs his dinner on the dining table while Aquamarine is playing on his laptop. Though his eyes are staring at the movie, he can’t help himself but thinks about that unique moment.
“I still can’t believe I did that shit.” He mumbles.
Sungho shrugged his head, trying to erase that moment from his brain and said, “You know what? Let’s just forget it. You need to lower your screen time too anyway, and this is the best opportunity to do so.”
Both opportunities for my eyes and my future life, probably.
Amen.
— Monday, two days after the memorable encounter.
“Hey, Jaehyun. Can I borrow your charger real quick?” Sungho said while glancing at Jaehyun, his deskmate who was busy typing some corporate stuff on email.
It’s 2pm after lunch break and Sungho thinks it’s the best time to charge his phone. Yes, he intentionally brings it to work to see if any of his colleagues could spare him the chance to use their cable.
Jaehyun stops his fingers from replying to emails and takes his bag to get his cable. “Wait, let me see if I bring it or not.” He rummages through the bag and gives it to Sungho when he finds it.
“Thanks, you are a life saver.” Sungho then crouched down under the table to charge his phone, letting it power up until 100%.
He sits back to his seat and continues his work. Jaehyun took a slight glance at him and said, “I thought you always bring yours? Kinda weird that you forgot about it.”
“Yeah, about that…” Sungho hesitantly replies while still working on his laptop, not sure if he wants to talk about it now or later.
“Wait,” He decides to open a message tab and texts Jaehyun to tell the full story. To tell it verbally is kinda dangerous and Sungho knows how nosy his other colleagues are about mundane topics. So, the only suitable way to talk freely is through text messages. Besides, when Riwoo is still working with them, these trio often talk with bubble chats during working hours.
“Remember when we talked about the busking band on Friday?”
“After you left, the guy who’s in that band approached me and Riwoo to ask if he could borrow one of our charger for ten minutes.”
Jaehyun slightly rises his eyebrow when he read the text from the notification and replies,
“Is this the same dude that you said was beautiful?”
Sungho answered with, “Yeah.”
“Oh?” Jeahyun said out loud and took a mischievous look at Sungho, wiggling his eyebrows up and down.
Sungho rolls his eyes and texts, “Shut your eyebrows down.”
“How come the cable is still not with you? Doesn’t he say it’ll take only ten mins?”
“I told him that I’m in a rush, so I just told him that he can keep it until the day we meet again.”
“Man, you are stupid af.” Jaehyun holds his laugh.
“I KNOW.”
“So? When are you gonna meet the pretty boy?”
“This Wednesday, wml”
Jaehyun and Sungho are masters of keeping their focused expressions as if they’re locked in the work. Although the truth is they were actually texting each other about anything and on anytime.
Wish me luck to meet him or wish him luck to meet me, I guess we’ll pray for the first option.
— Fast forward to Wednesday, the day to make another encounter.
“Hey, wish me luck, yeah?” Sungho glances at Jaehyun, who is shutting down his laptop to call it a day.
“Yeah yeah, good luck and have fun.” Jaehyun grabs his bag and continues, “I gotta go first, I still need to pick up Leehan from the cafe. Byee!”
“Yeah, you have fun too!”
After seeing Jaehyun off, Sungho reapplies his perfume and grabs his things to end the work. From the surface, it might look like that he will just continue his usual routine. However, if you take a look inside his brain..
Oh fuuuuck, what should I say? What should I call him? Oh God, what should I call him??? James? Michael? Fernando? or Mickey? All of those names doesn’t suit his face the fuck. Oh Lord help me.
Sungho walks away from the office and goes to the lift, silently waiting for the lift to come. He waits without any words because the words are busy running through his brain a billion times to make 100 possible scenarios that he might have with that band guy.
‘Hello? Uh my charger?’ Bro that was too forward please back it up a bit.
‘Hey! I’m the charger guy, the one you call Sir?’ Now that’s just straight up nonsense, start accept yourself that you’re old now for fuck sake.
‘Hi!! Great performance! Can you give back my charger now?’ Too straightforward but not bad, oh God help.
Now, he’s outside of his office tower. When he is busy with his dialogue making in his head, the muscle knows every direction to go out from the tower. Let’s just say Sungho realizes that he’s outside when he feels the fresh evening breeze touch his hands.
He walks slowly to the open-space place where he once saw the band last Friday. Feeling the winds passing through his hair and face. If work was not hard today, he would probably appreciate this moment even more.
Once he arrived at the place, Sungho immediately saw the band was arranging their instruments to perform. And there he was, the pretty guy strumming his red guitar to find the perfect pitch. The very unknown guy who accidentally lures Sungho into his radar.
Oh, Sungho is so screwed.
I should just back off, yeah I could just buy it again no worries haha payday is next week so I can handle it, huh right I can handle waiting for week without a phone, no one’s gonna contact m—
“Hey? Hello?” A guy waves his hand in front of Sungho’s face, trying to get his attention.
“Huh?” Sungho shrugged his head and looked up towards the voice.
Oh fuck.
The guy smiled and said, “You’re the guy on Friday right? I’m the person who borrows your charger, if you forgot..” He shyly scratched his head.
“..Oh, Yeah, Hi” Sungho awkwardly replies, he can't shake off his nerves. Blame the guy’s attractive face he thinks. “I remember you of course, I’m here for that reason after all…”
“Thank God, I was afraid that you forgot about it and didn’t come tonight..” The band guy hands Sungho the charger and continues, “Here, your charger, thanks again for last Friday.”
Sungho takes the charger and puts it in his bag. “Thank you so much! No worries, I get that you’re in need of it so I immediately lend it to you.” He smiles softly at the guy.
“I was really panicked that day, the crowd was unexpected so me and my friends didn't have the chance to end earlier than usual.” The band guy shared his concerns about last Friday. It was satisfying to make a crowd, but he just realized how hectic it is to manage both time and chances to wrap up the performance.
Sungho listens to the guy’s concerns while nodding his head, and understands the feeling of getting unexpected results. It reminds him of when his division got a load of work because of a sudden increase in clients, he experiences the mixed feelings of pride and tiredness during that time.
“By the way, I don’t think we have introduced ourselves before. I’m Taesan.” The guy named Taesan offers his hand to Sungho, wanting to shake hands.
“I’m Sungho. Nice to know you, Taesan.” Sungho accepts the offer and awkwardly shakes hands, then both of them release the grip. “Are you preparing for your performance back there?” He glances at Taesan’s back, looking at the friends arranging their instruments left and right.
Taesan looks at his back and to Sungho again. “Yup! Do you want to watch us perform? I hope you do, I was thinking of buying you something as thanks after this.” He puts his hands on his back, “..I mean, if you’re not busy of course.” He shyly adds.
“Sure!” Sungho instantly replies. “I would love to stay and watch you perform.”
That’s too quick, bro.
Taesan looks relieved, sighing as if he was holding his breath to wait for Sungho’s response. “That’s great! Here, follow me.” He turns his back, starts to walk back to his so-called stage. “You can stand closer to us so you get a clear view of our band.”
“Oh” Sungho follows him from the back. “Is it okay though? It’s okay if I'm standing at the back, my height is kinda tall after all.”
“But I want you to get a closer view of our band, so just stand close here, yeah?” Taesan stops his track and turns around to face Sungho. “I kinda want to see your face too when I’m performing these songs, so don’t stay back.” He grabs his guitar and settles his standing mic, getting ready to start the night.
Sungho only looks silently at Taesan and replies with, “Okay…” He then stands close to the band, but not too close to them. A perfect position to watch a busking band. While Taesan’s band is preparing their show, Sungho has so many thoughts in his brain about the recent conversation.
Sungho got focused again once he heard Taesan's voice from the speaker, signaling that the show had started.
“Good evening everyone! Are you ready to sing with us again?!” Crowds gathered around the band and cheered hard, really hard.
Oh, I’m so fucking screwed.
