Chapter Text
—------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It’s been maybe a month since everything happened in eastern Europe. Finn had gotten used to the same routine everyday: wake up, be taken to a white room, get interrogated for hours on end, then go back to his normal room for the night. Well he isn’t sure if it’s night, but he sleeps then. He has no idea what the j’avos speak. Maybe something Asian, but that’s all he really knew. They are capable of speaking perfect English, but they only do so when they want him to understand.
Finn lifts his head from the pillow. Everything hurts, especially his back. He’s pretty sure someone or something had hit him yesterday. It might be bruised, but he has no way to check. He does have some other bruises so it wouldn’t be out of place. His head spins. If they realize he doesn’t have any useful information how much longer would he be kept alive? Hopefully Jake and Sherry are doing better than him. What if one or both of them are dead?
Fuck… Deep breaths, deep breaths. In, and out…
Sherry wakes up to someone slamming the door open. The j’avos again. Probably to take her to be probed again. She lets out a deep sigh. She gets up, but her head starts spinning. Her ears ring and vision swims. Dammit… She sits back down before her legs give out.
One of the J’avos pulls her back standing roughly, another slips the handcuffs on. The J’avos lead her out of the room.
They walk through the white hallways. Her feet hurt like hell, not from walking but from getting stabbed. The scientists had done a few tests, if you could call it that. The J’avos stop in front of a door, and one of them opens it. They push Sherry inside and lock the door.
Jake’s pacing around the room. Hopefully Sherry’s alright, and what about Finn? There’s a high chance that he’s dead.
The door opens before he can mull on it any longer. He doesn’t stop until the J’avos walk in. Sure he could try leaving but how. It’s going to be a waiting game. The J’avos kept their distance and their guns raised. He walks in silence for a while until he’s led to a very familiar door. One of the J’avos opens it and Jake walks inside.
He looks around, everything’s normal. The white walls, the small white table that was actually just a white block, Sherry, the door to the bathroom and the messy bed…..wait a fucking minute. Sherry?
He looks at her. “Sherry?” He sees what she's wearing and immediately looks away.
“Uh... hi, Jake” Sherry looks at him. Her eyes land on his bare chest before quickly looking away, “What are you doing here?”
Why the hell would the j'avos let them meet? “I could ask you the same thing, supergirl”, he leans against the wall and crosses his arms. Goddamn Sherry looks miserable. He’s not sure what he’s supposed to do? Should he comfort her? Ask her?
Sherry’s the first one to speak up, “Have you seen Finn around?” She sounds worried. He shakes his head before sitting down next to her.
He stares at the ground for a long while before speaking, “You think he’s still alive?”
Sherry looks at him even though he’s avoiding eye contact: “Maybe, I mean probably?”
Jake watches Sherry be quiet for a second before he turns his head to look back at the floor, “You are right”. They sit in the quiet for a while before the door opens again.
Jake and Sherry both turn their heads; it was the j’avos again. One of the j’avos points their gun towards Sherry. She just sighs and stands up. She’s handcuffed and one of the J’avos closes the door behind her. Jake sits there for a moment. . He got no idea what they will do to her. But judging by what they already had done to him it wouldn’t be good.
Finn feels the cold metal of the handcuffs click around his wrists. He takes a deep breath as he’s led through a long white hallway. Deep breaths, deep breaths Finn. He’s gonna get through this…probably.
The j’avos sit him down in the dark room. One of the j’avos clicks his handcuffs to the chain coming from the table. He sits in silence for a while until a singular(1) dim warm light flickers on above the table. The same j’avo who strapped him to the table stands there, face hidden by the mask.
The j’avo looks Finn in the eyes, “You know, we never expected you to hold this well. You still haven’t told us anything. You seem scared of death, but you just accept it. So now it’s time to actually test how well you keep secrets, pretty boy”. The j'avo lifts up a knife and walks up to Finn.
He’s sweating bullets, he’s scared, but he doesn’t want to let his team down. Jesus Christ, how much Finn wants Chris to be here. He would know what to do. It leans closer to Finn, “But we wouldn’t want this fun to end so fast. We figured a way”.
The j’avo takes a remote from his pocket and presses a button. A TV flickers on across the room. The tv is big, and really good quality for what’s basically a prison. But why? As the TV opens Finn sees what looks like security footage. It’s colored. Finn looks at it again and he sees…Sherry? Oh no, oh hell no. She’s strapped to a chair. Then it hits him. Oh no, oh fuck, no. The j’avo looks at Finn. Finn sits there frozen- He doesn't know what to do. But before he can say anything, the j’avo walks out of the room.
Sherry feels her legs and arms being tied to the chair. This is…new. The j’avo stands up. Sherry and it stare at each other for a moment before she speaks “Whatever you are planning to do, I’m not going to tell you shit”.
The j’avo points at a camera directly in front of her, just a bit above, “This time this isn’t about your information, Birkin”,
She narrows her eyes, “What the hell do you want from Jake?” The j’avo just shakes their head, “Everything isn’t about Jake”. She blinks at the j’avo.
The J’avo shakes its head: “Thought you were supposed to be smart, Birkins. Seems like everything doesn’t run in the blood,” the j’avo looks at the camera, “I’m obviously talking about your other friend.”
Her heart sinks. “Finn? What do you want from him?” What the hell are they doing to the rookie…
The j’avo’s all over her personal space, the mask taking up most of her vision, “Now you get it, don’t you”.
Finn sits in the chair. The light buzzes overhead. He stares at the TV. Sherry struggles against the restraints in the footage. Deep breaths Finn, deep breaths.
The door opens, and the j’avo walks in, “So Macauley, tell me about the B.S.A.A”. It stands on the other side of the table from him.
He forces himself to take a deep breath. He glances at the screen before looking at the j’avo, “No, I’m not telling you shit”.
The j’avo sighs, “Who do you answer to?” the j’avo is expecting a name, a title, maybe someone from the headquarters.
Finn forces his lungs to fill up with air again, “...Captain Redfield,” his voice trembles. The j’avo stares at him, the mask emotionless, “You want me to believe they sent a simple soldier with the two? Don’t try lying to me”. The j’avo takes its radio and lifts it up to its mouth, “You can start now”.
Finn stares at the screen as another j’avo enters the camera’s field of vision. It has a knife in its hand, the sleek metal glinting against the cold lighting. The j’avo stops in front of Sherry. Slowly the knife presses against Sherry’s arm. The skin hasn’t broken yet. Sherry bites her lip. With a little more pressure, the skin breaks. Sherry hisses in pain. Finn flinches. A trail of blood travels down her arm. Slowly the j’avo cuts downwards.
He tries to calm down, deep breaths, deep breaths, “I’m not lying, I work for Redfield! I don’t know anything!” The j’avo shakes its head, “Don’t lie to me, Macauley”.
Finn looks from the screen to the j’avo, “I’m not lying!”
The j’avo starts cuts again on her arm. She clenches her jaw and grips the chair tight. As the knife moves downwards a searing hot pain follows it. “What do you want?!” she gasps out.
The j’avo stops the knife for a while and looks up at her face, “We told you, we don’t want anything from you”. The j’avo moves the knife again, agonizing inch after another. It doesn’t look at her. She bites back a gasp and leans back against the chair. Blood drips down the chair and pools on the ground.
Finn stares at the screen. Oh fuck, oh no… “I-I can’t-” he shuts his eyes tight. The j’avo is staring at him, “Just tell me the truth.”
He takes a shuddering breath, “I’m the explosives expert! I told you already! Please don’t hurt her, I can’t- I can’t” He refuses to open his eyes. The j’avo raises its radio again: “Switch it up a little”. His heart sinks.
The knife pulls out, smearing more blood on the ground. Sherry exhales sharply, her fingers gripping the chair. All she can see is blood and the j’avo. Its back is turned away from her, looking for something.
A moment later she feels a hot searing pain in her leg, causing her to yelp in pain. She can’t see what’s going on, but something rough against her leg. She tries to pull away.
The j’avo grips Finn’s jaw and forces him to look at the screen. God there’s so much blood. And Sherry’s leg- Oh God oh God- “I swear to God! I don't know! Please just let her go!”
Shit, he’s useless, he has to do something, they are going to kill Sherry and- and- deep breaths.
The J’avo grips his jaw tighter, “We don’t believe you. You must know, Macauley.” It looks directly at him now. “So do tell me. I know you have the answers”. It releases Finn’s jaw and takes a step back. Finn looks at the j’avo with sad wet eyes . He should lie, he should make something up- Too late.
“Nothing really? Let’s switch it up a little more”.
The j’avo on the monitor has a metal rod. He can’t fully comprehend what he’s seeing. The j’avo stabs the metal rod in her eye. He can’t hear through the monitor but it looks like Sherry screamed in pain. Oh my God, there’s so much blood. Finn closes her eyes, he has to look away. The j’avo grabs Finn’s hair and forces him to look. “Look at her. All of that pain will stop if you just answer a few questions”.
Finn looks at Sherry then his eyes dart to the table in front of him. “I’ll try, just make it stop”. He’s crying now, “Please just leave her alone”.
The j’avo looks up at the screen, “Not so hard, is it?”
