Chapter Text

To Namjoon's surprise, Jin waved at Taehyung when he walked in, and Taehyung waved back. Taehyung caught Namjoon's eye and waved at him as well, making Namjoon awkwardly wave back. One of these days, Namjoon was seriously going to bash his head into a wall for being so awkward and creepy. Jin turned to look at the cringing Namjoon, wondering what he was thinking of. He dismissed it, because he didn't want to worry Namjoon any further.

Jin hung around Namjoon until the bell rang, which Namjoon fucking loved greatly appreciated. Many whispers erupted from the classroom and no matter how hard Namjoon tried to ignore, he just couldn't.

'What's with him?'

'Oh? So he'd rather hang out with that nerd instead of Jhope?'

'I didn't know Seokjin's standards were that low.'

'What a loner.'

Namjoon would have walked out if Jin wasn't in front of him, laughing, smiling, existing things like that.

Honestly, what's up with his thoughts lately?

Jin must've noticed his thoughts were somewhere else. "Hey," Jin said softly and looked in his eyes. Namjoon quickly came back down to reality, accidentally staring right back. 'What should I do?? If I break eye contact, that might be considered as rude, but if I keep staring...' "Joonie." Jin suddenly said. Namjoon was taken aback at the nickname. He hadn't been called that since 4th grade. In a way, it was kind of refreshing. "Is it okay to call you that?" Namjoon nodded with a smile. Jin smiled back and said " Don't listen to them; they're just jealous that they can't be friends with you."

Namjoon knows Jin didn't mean to offend him, but since Namjoon's paranoia was constantly active, he felt like that was the case. 'Does Jin think being friends with me is an accomplishment?' 'Is he trying to say I am unworthy of having friends?' None of these thoughts were stopping; they were getting worse. Namjoon managed to choke out "Yeah..."

The bell rung, signalling the beginning of class.

----

"I am giving you guys a project."

Many groans erupted from the class.

"And you have to do it with a partner."

The groans got louder.

Jin sighed out loud and raised a hand. The teacher pointed at him, "Are they assigned, or do we get to pick?" He asked. "I can't trust you guys, so they are assigned." Half of the class groaned. Jin didn't really care, most of the class hated him anyway.

Namjoon was internally freaking out. He hated partner projects, especially since he only knew 3 people in this class, two of which he didn't even know much about.

Namjoon didn't even bother to listen to the teacher say the pairs. He put his head down and contemplated going to the nurse and pretending to be sick. That is, until he felt a hand in his shoulder. "Guess who's your partner, Joonie?" Namjoon slightly smiled at the voice and lifted his head up. Jin's bright smile almost blinded him but if it was Jin who was blinding him, he was perfectly fine with that but he didn't mind. Jin pulled a desk and chair next to Namjoon's.

"Do you know what the project is about? I was zoning out through the whole thing..." Namjoon apologized. Jin smiled and said it was okay. "We have to write a poem, together, on what we think of the world." Jin sighed. "Should I just barf of the paper, then?" Namjoon rolled his eyes in boredom. Jin began to laugh, but this time he wasn't covering his mouth. The class went silent when Jin started to laugh, but Namjoon could understand why; he sounded like a window wiper. Namjoon, however, didn't think it was weird. He actually liked it way too much and began to laugh too, so he wouldn't be alone in the silence.

The silence only got longer as Namjoon joined; people have told him his laugh sounds like a spray bottle when the liquid inside is low (it was a confusing explanation, but Namjoon knew what they meant.) Taehyung also began to laugh; he saw the tension in the room and he saw what Namjoon was trying to do. Plus, they both had weird laughs that complemented each other. Hoseok suddenly burst out in laughter at Taehyung's addition to the awkwardness and how all of the laughs combined sounded. Everyone in the classroom was very confused but began to start talking once more.

"That was great." Hoseok smiled as he wiped a tear away from his eye. Hoseok didn't seem that bad after all. Namjoon caught Taehyung's eye and mouthed a 'thank you' with a smile. Taehyung smiled back. The guy next to him was glaring daggers at Namjoon, but his façade turned into a smile as Taehyung faced him.

---

Jin and Namjoon decided to continue their project through texts, since they didn't have any luck doing it in class; they couldn't stop laughing.

"Do you wanna hang out at the library after school? Two of my friends will be there, but they're lovey-dovey, so they won't bother us much." Jin announced as they walked to their last class. "I mean, if you want to. You can say no." Jin said suddenly. Namjoon began to think to himself.

'Do I have anywhere to be? No.'

Well, there's his answer.

"I would love to, actually." Namjoon blurted out. He facepalmed his burning face and cringed at himself. Jin started blushing and smiled to himself. "I'm sorry, that came out of the blue." "It's okay, Joonie. Now, hurry, before we're late!" Jin reassured as he practically pushed Namjoon into the classroom.

Namjoon's mind was erratic; he couldn't focus on the paper in front of him. No, it wasn't because he made Jin blush (okay maybe it was.) He was worried about who the two other people were, and how they acted, and if they would like him. He tried to focused on the lecture, he really did; it just wasn't working. He decided to put his head down and give up.

-----------

"Joonie~!" Jin groaned as he tried to pull Namjoon up from his chair. Namjoon was very confused; why was Jin pulling him away from his slumber? He blinked a few times and looked around. 'Oh, I'm still in school.' He died a little bit on the inside and rubbed his eyes. "School's over, let's go to our lockers."

Surprisingly enough, their lockers were very close. It isn't very surprising,though; they have the same surname. Namjoon pulled out his phone and called his dad. "Hi Dad, I'm staying after school. No, I'm not in trouble... Okay Dad, I'll be home eventually. Bye." As he put his phone in his pocket, he caught Jin staring. "Wow, Joonie. No 'I love you, dad!' Or 'I can't wait to see you after school, dad!' Or anything??" Namjoon smiled awkwardly and looked at the floor. "Yeah... My dad isn't one for affection. It would be odd for me to say that, and for me to hear him say that." Jin nodded and closed his locker. "I'm sorry, Joonie." Namjoon raised an eyebrow at Jin; no one has ever apologized for something they had nothing to do with. "It's okay... It's not your fault." Namjoon said quietly.

The two began to walk to the library in silence. Jin said hi to a few people here and there, and Namjoon just watched. Before they entered the library, Jin quickly turned to Namjoon and said "Also, earlier, when I said they were lovey-dovey, I wasn't kidding. Both of them, however, seem to be oblivious to the other's feelings. But hey! You already know one of them!" The last sentence threw Namjoon off; he knew one of them already? That wasn't helping his anxiety at all; he only knew a select amount of people, none of which he volunteered to know. He internally sighed and followed Jin through the door.

The two signed in and Jin looked around for the two people they were supposed to meet. "Oh! There they are." Jin pulled Namjoon by his wrist to the table. He ushered Namjoon to sit down, making the tension in the air rise.

"Oh! Hello, Namjoon!" Namjoon looked up to be face-to-face with a familiar box-like smile and light brown hair; Taehyung. "Hi," Namjoon smiled awkwardly. Namjoon glanced over to the person sitting next to Taehyung and almost shit his pants. The person next to him was that guy that was glaring at him earlier. Namjoon wasn't scared easily, but he got very uncomfortable when people stared at him. The guy had dark brown hair and usually a very clam and friendly visage, except for now. He was still glaring daggers at Namjoon. Jin noticed the tension and announced "I don't think you two have met yet. Joonie, this is Jungkook. We call him Kookie, but I think calling him Kookie without his permission isn't the best option. Kookie, this is Namjoon. I call him Joonie because he says it's okay." Namjoon smiled awkwardly at Jungkook, who let his glaring falter and smiled back radiantly.

Jin reminded Taehyung and Jungkook that they were, in fact, in a library and to keep it down. Jungkook nodded, but Taehyung shrugged with a smug grin, as if to say 'What happens, happens' Namjoon liked that about Taehyung; he didn't care about what people thought of him (at least, that's the way Taehyung was making it seem.) Namjoon, however, didn't know how to feel about Jungkook; he gave Namjoon a horrible first impression, but now he doesn't seem that bad. He figured to just let things play out. He felt his phone vibrate in his pocket and pulled it out. It was a text from an unknown number;

'I'd feel too awkward to talk to you because I know I would start laughing ;;'

The person who had sent the message was obvious and Namjoon smiled a little. He added Jin as a contact and texted back;

'What's wrong with your laugh? I like it.'

A couple seconds later, Namjoon instantly regretted the message and quickly typed back;

'I'm so sorry that came out so weirdly ;;'

Jin smiled to himself and responded;

'Thank you... It wasn't weird at all'

Namjoon smiled a little and put his phone down. He pulled out a blank piece of paper and began to doodle on it. What was he drawing? He didn't know. He sketched a circle, which slowly developed into a head. He added a face and some hair, but decided to leave it a floating head. When he was satisfied by the shading and lines, he put the paper away, for safe keeping. Jin nudged him, causing him to snap his head in Jin's direction. Jin nodded his head in the direction of the people across from him. Namjoon sneakily took a glance in their direction and heard the passing conversation;

"Jungkook... I'm hungry."

"Oh...well... you can come over and had what my mom made"

"Really!! Wait, what did she make?"

"Me."

Namjoon almost lost his shit. He was so close to laughing out loud that he ran out of the library in tears. He made sure he was a good distance away from the library before he fell to his knees in laughter. The whole conversation he overheard sounded so cheesy, yet very smart. Jin barely made it out of the library before he started wiping windows laughing. He ran up to Namjoon and laughed"You should have seen Taehyung's face after he said that! He looked so salty but he was blushing" Jin proceeded to wipe a tear from his eye and smiled. Namjoon began laughing even more after imagining what Taehyung's face would look like.

After a while, Namjoon finally got up and began walking back to the library with Jin.

"Jin?"

Someone behind them began to talk.

The two turned around only to be faced with a black haired male, about their age, with pale skin, and was rather short compared to the two.

"Who's this guy?" The guy spoke harshly.

"Yoongi what are you..." Jin looked at Namjoon and then to the unknown student

The 'Yoongi' guy looked Namjoon up and down and smirked. "Kim Namjoon, huh? I'm surprised. Is he better than me? He must be if you're having such a grand time with him." Yoongi's voice hissed the words easily, but Namjoon heard slight jealousy and sorrow. However, Namjoon was offended. He felt bad for Yoongi; he wanted to know why he felt this way. Yet, Namjoon didn't care; Yoongi just dissed him.

"Don't put Namjoon into this. He hasn't done anything wrong." Jin hissed.

Yoongi laughed harshly and made an unconvinced face. "Whatever." Yoongi glared at Namjoon one last time before scowling. Yoongi's face turned into something other than hatred for a split second. Before Namjoon could tell what it was, Yoongi turned away.

Yoongi's echoing footsteps were getting smaller and smaller, until all there was was silence.

Jin knew this was going to happen, sooner or later.

Notes:

I'm sorry about making Yoongi seem like a complete asshole :') I think I will circulate the story after all the characters are introduced (except for Jimin, I have a few things in mind on how I want to introduce him.) I hope you guys enjoyed this story! Let me know if you have any suggestions!
