Arizona didn't understand. That same patient that had been smiling and laughing with her that morning was laying motionless under a thin white hospital sheet.
Cold.
Dead.
What happened?
Arizona stood at the scene for what felt like hours, seemingly frozen, like a statue, and eventually walked closer to the bed. She reached her hand out, removed the sheet, and gently took the deceased little girl's hand. She held it for a good while, just watching, thinking. Did I do something wrong? Was this whole thing my fault?
Before she knew it, tears began falling from Arizona's eyes, leaving small wet puddles on the white fabric covering the bed. Arizona folded the sheet down even more, still grasping the girl’s cold hand. Her whole corpse was now revealed, in the hand Arizona wasn’t holding, the girl was tightly hugging a teddy bear. The scene was frozen in time. The poor kid, the whole rest of her life taken from her by the cruel hands of time. Who knows what that child could’ve done with just a few more years?
After observing the scene for a bit more, Arizona exited the room. As she walked, her long blonde hair swayed onto her face, and some had stuck to where Callie had kissed her earlier. Walking down the hallway, she instinctively walked into the first supply closet she could find.
