Chapter Text

Hitoshi has been in school for approximately 2700 seconds and he already wants to go home. (for anyone with dyscalculia like author over here thats 45 minutes and YES i did have to search it up)

Not only did he get confronted about being late, then got outwardly targeted about not being late to training and then just as he started some good ‘ole self-discrimination had Aizawa-sensei then said if you got last place in the quirk assessment test you would get expelled.

Great.

Hitoshi has been at school for approximately 2700 seconds and he's already going to get expelled.

I can already feel the advantage all the people with physical quirks have compared to thy, a fellow mental quirked human, will have.

How am I grossed out by my own thoughts?

All while Hitoshi is having his conversation in his head, Aizawa-sensei is explaining the rules, HItoshi is, of course, a pro at looking like he's listening while not hearing a word from anyone around him.

The pro’s of being beat for not listening.

Hitoshi snorts at his own mental reply to, well, himself, and immediately gets a look from the hobo-guy that still claims to be their teacher, Hitoshi wonders how to soft launch to his classmates that he isn't sure this guy is their actual teacher and didn't just break in.

Someone should check this “Shouta Aizawa” guy’s clearance to be in the school.

Hitoshi’s classmates all look at the bomb-guy who Hitoshi now knows as “Bakugo” when their ‘’Sensei” addresses him.

“Bakugo,” Aizawa-sensei starts, “How far could you throw the ball without your quirk in Junior High?" he says with a deadpan expression, really reminding Hitoshi of this homeless guy outside his ho—

“Around about 67 meters” (roughly 220 feet to any fellow non-Americans) is what Bakugo replies with, Hitoshi never lasted long enough at a school to be able to track his high-score, or on the rare occasion he would, they wouldn't let him throw the ball because “Villains don't need to know their high score”

That's what Hitoshi is,

A villain,

A monster,

And most importantly,

An outsider.

Aizawa-sensei gets Bakugo to throw the ball with his quirk this time, saying he’ll track it during the throw.

When Bakugo just looks back at his classmates with a pissed off expression, Aizawa-sensei speaks up. “Anything goes, just stay inside the circle,” when Bakugo doesn't move for another few seconds, Aizawa speaks up again, “Go on, you’re wasting our time.”

“All right man, you asked for it.” is Bakugo’s own snarky reply before he throws the ball.

He takes a step forward, then pulls his arm back and throws. A flash of Bakugo's explosion hits the air and that's the only warning Hitoshi and the class get before a massive, wave-like explosion goes through the air.

“DIEEEEEEEEEE!!” Bakugo screams.

Well, this guy seems like a sweetheart

“705.2 meters. You can go back to your place now.” This is the only comment Bakugo gets from Aizawa.

“Almost singed my eyebrows with that throw”

The class snicker at that, and HItoshi feels proud of himself for speaking out loud for once just as he gets dragged forwards by Bakugo’s hand lifting him in the air by just his collar.

Before you ask, Bakugo isn't freakishly tall or strong or anything, Hitsohi has just had a bit of his growth stunted from a mix of malnourishment and being born a few weeks early and is generally light from undereating even without the height aspect.

Speaking of undereating, Hitoshi is STARVING, when is lunch– wait. He doesn't have lunch money, hopefully someone in his class will give him something, and soon because he's feeling a bit woozy after not eating for like 17 hours.

If I pass out it’ll be so embarrassing, ill probably be known as the passing-out kid.

I want to go home.

The Quirk assessment test is nothing interesting, Hitoshi doesn't do very well on, well, anything.

Whos surprised there, of course i cant even win in fucking sprints.

I'm so useless.

Hitoshi felt bad for Midoriya, as the kid had broken his finger and it doesn't look like Recovery Girl was anywhere nearby to heal him.

He broke it in the first assessment, hitoshi thought, the ball throw.

And no one even sent him to Recovery Girl?

Hitoshi got second to last in the quirk assessment test, just before the Deku kid who Hitoshi now knows as Midoriya, Izuku midoriya.

His parents must really like.. well.. Green.

Hitoshi then remembered that Midoriya was getting expelled and slowly made his way over to the kid,

“Hey,” Hitoshi starts, “So what if you're getting sent home, you still deserve to be here, way more than I do. You're already a hero” As Hitoshi finishes he notices tears in midoriya's eyes,

“Hey-hey, uh, don't cry! I'm sorry I’m not very good with words–” he's cut off just as Aizawa-Sensei speaks up

“I was lying, no one gets expelled.”

What a jerk.

As they pack up Hitoshi notices Midoriya's still unhealed finger and approaches the homeless man– teacher. He means the teacher, not the homeless man. Probably.

“Hey, uh, Sensei?” Hitoshi mumbles and Aizawa lazily brings his eyes over to Hitoshi for probably the first time since that morning, "Midoriya's finger is still broken, I was wondering if I could use my quirk on him to erase the pain until Recovery Girl arrives?”

Aizawa stares at him unblinking, “Shinsou Hitoshi, brainwashing. Hmm.” he hums, “I suppose. As long as Midoriya is fine with it, no funny business.” At that Aizawa levels him with a quirk activated stare, and Hitoshi just nods.

Hitoshi approaches Midoriya again, “Hey, I have a quirk that could null your pain until recovery girl heals you, do you mind if I, well, use it on you?” Midoriya then gasps and goes off into a mumbling session that goes like this:
“A sense nulling quirk– can you control how they fee- no you couldnt… hey can you–” Hitoshi cuts him off, uncomfortable. “So is that a yes?”

Midoriya nods “Yes! Thats fin–” Midoriya doesn't get to finish as Hitoshi just takes control over his mind.

“Relax,” Hitoshi says.

peace
/piːs/
Peace fundamentally means freedom from disturbance, a state of calm, or the absence of war and violence

Silence,
Midoriya hasn't felt his brain this slow in… well.. his life.
All his thoughts kind of echoey in a way that would be scary if he didnt feel full of peace

And oh, so undoubtedly calm.
Why was he like this again?
Pain.
He was in pain wasn't he?
Pain doesn't even feel like it could be a thing in the place his head is at right now.

Hitoshi sees the familiar signs of his quirk working.
The way Midoriya's pupil relaxes and becomes unnaturally large.
The way Midoriya's body completely relaxes, whilst standing up.
That's when the rest of his classmates notice Midoriya's state and approach Hitoshi
“Is that your quirk?”
“I haven't seen it in action yet”
“its so cool”
“Can you explain it?”
Hitoshi is overwhelmed, normally he’d be getting cornered and threatened for even talking, so why was everyone so interested in his quirk?
Hitoshi decides to play on with his classmates while they're still interested
“It's called brainwashing,” Hitoshi begins, "It's a mental quirk and I can basically control a person to do anything I ask them too, except for speaking. Well, I can make them talk, but it makes my head hurt so I don't do it often.”
“That's so cool!”
‘Woah, I've never met anyone with a mental quirk before”
“What does it feel like under control?”
That's a question Hitoshi can answer, “well, ill ask Midoriya once he's healed.”
Rock-guy asks, “why not just tell us now, you do know what your quirk feels like for other people. Right?”

“Uh,” How is Hitoshi supposed to explain that, no, he doesn't know what his quirk feels like for other people because no one ever wants to be brainwashed by him.
“Well, no. I've never asked before.” HItoshi ends up saying.
“Well, you better ask Midoriya!” Rock-guy says with a big, toothy grin.
How does he not hurt himself on those sharp teeth? Hitoshi thinks. Biting your tongue with those teeth would leave you with no tongue–
Wait.
They're not calling me a villain?
Maybe I've found my flock.
