Chapter Text
After much deliberation, they manage to pick something.
"I think a concert is your best bet. It can be 10 bells for entry, and maybe we could have a few stands selling things once you go inside to make a bit extra" Isabelle says as she writes with intense focus.
Phil's eyes light up, "Yes! That's so perfect I'm surprised you thought of it and not me!"
Isabelle furrows her non-existant eyebrows; she's unsure if that's supposed to be a compliment or an insult but decides against asking, "Thank you..?"
"Anytime," Phil says with a charming smiling.
"Right, well I think we should invite K.K Slider. He's already so familiar with Philville and I think he owes Mr. Nook a favor right now."
Phil nods approvingly, this is a phantasic plan, " With how big K.K Slider is I bet we'll even have people from neighboring island's show up! Thank you, Isabelle. I seriously owe you one."
"Don't worry, I'll hold you to it," She smiles and Phil swears there's a mischevious glint in her eye but when he blinks it's gone and she's just smiling sweetly.
"Uh, right. Well, let me walk you out," He stands up and leads her to the door, making sure she has everything.
The next morning is awkward. Phil walks into the kitchen, passing Julian at the dining table without a glance as he stars brewing some Cophee™.
Julian sighs and sets down his NookPhone before looking up at his boyfriend, "Look, Phil..Let's just be adults and put this behind us, okay?"
Phil's body tenses and his pheathers ruffle. He scoffs and doesn't turn around to look at Julian, "Put it behind us?"
Julian nods, oblivious to Phil's annoyance, "Yes, I miss you! I don't want to fight anymore."
"If you just see this as a silly 'fight', then clearly you still don't understand why I'm upset," Phil finally turns around to face his boyfriend.
"Lilsimsie, Phil! I'm trying to fix things between us. What do you want from me? Do you want me to get on the floor and grovel??"
Phil internally winces; Julian's right, he is being a bit harsh, but he doesn't feel like he can back down now. "No, I just- I want you to understand, Julian," he says with a frustrated huff.
"Understand what? That you're putting the burden of things you can't control on your shoulders, that you're acting as if it's your responsibility to fix the world while neglecting your responsibilities at home?!" Julian's eyes widen a bit, he didn't mean to get so heated at the end, or let that last part slip out.
"What? Julian..you- you think I'm neglecting you?" Phil's imaginary brows furrow in confusion and he feels slightly defensive.
Julian takes a deep breath but decides to keep going, "You've been giving me the silent treatment while you run around the island doing Simsie know's what. You can't fault me for feeling like this."
"I'm trying to help people, Julian! Of course you wouldn't know anything about that though, you refuse to focus on anything that doesn't directly affect you!" Phil raises his voice, he never raises his voice.
Julian's eyes widen before his face tightens into a stiff expression, "I don't know what's gotten into you lately, but I'm not going to just sit here and take this. I tried making up, Phil, but I can see that you're not ready. I'm going to stay with Cleo until you figure this out," He stands up quietly and leaves to go pack a bag.
"Julian, wait-" Phil calls out for his boyfriend, but it's too late, he knows he's messed up.
