Chapter Text
The group trudged forward, when they finally came across the all too familiar bridge. It was broken, tearing apart, soggy and dirty. The huge pillars holding the wooden planks across the stream was chipped, and it was basically impossible to get over without getting wet.
Player almost fell to their knees when they saw it.
“Finally…!” They muttered to themselves. Bizville was right in front of them, which means Shedletsky must be close. Everything was coming together, and a wave of relief cannot help but wash over them.
A flying noob came towards the party, but was quickly punted to the floor.
“Wow! Bizville certainly…looks interesting.” Kyoko commented sarcastically, after almost falling through the bridge.
“It wasn’t like this when I left,” Player explained, their breath hitched as the sudden reality hit them, “ it must be the infection that caused all of this.”
Noobador, too, looked devastated. After what he revealed the last night they talked, Player could almost tell what they were thinking.
Some part of them wanted to say something but they stopped themselves.
Red and Blue was doomed from the start, that was something very true and very hurtful, no point in sugar coating that. But the fact that Player’s home, friends and family were all doomed too. Forced to suffer by something or someone way out of their control.
Player’s legs were aching, and their eyes stinged as they looked at all the damaged buildings yet to show any signs of life.
Very soon, a large skyscraper towered over the trio. In fact, the only skyscraper in town, so its broken windows and crumbling structure stood out like a sore thumb.
Roblox HQ, something that’s supposed to be a beacon of hope in the roblox community, managed by the admins who were powerful yet humble.
An explosion was heard over the distance. Rubble tipped over the roof and fell crashing into the ground.
“We better hurry up if we want to settle this and question this punk,” Noobador coughed and waved away the dust, “I have a feeling he’s not surviving any longer.”
“Agreed but is there no other way to reach the top? If Red and Blue doesn’t kill us off first, this building will.”
Noobador winced, but Player didn’t pay mind to any of Kyoko’s concerns.
“We pull through I guess, unless we have a helicopter, not like there’s gonna be a safe way up anyway.”
Kyoko eyes the four black pillars that were holding the headquarters up with much hesitance, but eventually follows Player in.
The whole place was a mess. Smashed computers, missing pieces of the floor and the pungent smell of rotting bodies.
Upstairs was even worse. It smelt of ash and smoke. Player had to pull up their lantern so they could see through the obscene amount of particles that were in the air.
Floor three. Kyoko swore she stepped on something meaty and a sickening sound of flesh being crushed. Noobador told her to look at her boots close to the window, and it horrified them to see grime slowly making its way to her socks.
Out of pity Player poured their last remaining water to wash off what they could. Then quickly urged them to continue on.
Flour four was slightly better. A soft breeze helped with the overwhelming stuffiness of the place. A little bit of glass fell on Player.
“We’re almost there.”
Sweat stuck to their clothes and their limbs felt heavy. The last floor was basically half gone.
Squishing themselves up against the wall, they shuffled through a tiny ledge that led them to the balcony.
Noobador froze. Voices. Tiny, kiddish, desperate voices were heard from the other side of that door.
“I don’t think I can do this kiddos. I really can’t.” His voice was shaking.
Player don’t think they could either.
“We’ve come so far. We can end this. Noobador, you can end this.” Kyoko patted the big guy’s arm awkwardly.
“Not the way that they deserve.”
“But the only way they can be at peace.”
“Shut up kid.”
“Hey!” Player interjected, “Noobador you know better than to be emotional. There is no place for sentiment if you really want to stop this mess.”
His eyes were tired. In Blackrock, almost every infected looked like that too. Exhausted, frayed and unsure.
Player hated that look.
They pushed open the doors anyway, and a blast of wind hit them.
“Oh look who decided to show up.” Red drawled.
“Here to save your ‘innocent’ man?” Blue continued. Red shoved a body onto the ground in response.
Their attention was shifted onto Shedletsky, his head had a large gash. He looked like he was about to pass out.
“I can’t let you do this,” Noobador surprisingly spoke up first.
“We don’t think you understand Uncle. But it doesn't matter, because we’re Red and Blue—“
“—Staying true!”
—————
Red and Blue started out vulnerable and shaking in Blackrock’s medical facility. A cool, metal prosthetic replaced their missing limbs. And everyone acted like this immediately made things better.
One bloody fight with their parents.
Blue thinks it’s her fault, that she shouldn’t have tried to protest against their parents so much, or tried to be the soft one in the family.
Red also thinks it was his fault. He should’ve protected Blue more. If he wasn’t so weak or tiny none of this would’ve happened right?
Even Uncle, no, boss didn’t speak to them for several weeks. He did visit them, but couldn’t meet their eyes.
Months tolled by, and they were lonelier and lonelier day after day, stuck in a castle as an apocalypse raged outside.
They felt useless. Abandoned.
One day however, The blackrock king called all volunteers to kill a man named Shedletsky. Finally! A way they can help out!
Noobador would be happy that they're doing something to help him right?
————————
Three years.
Three years were they lost in the snowy wilderness, their sanity slowly withering down to only one thought: Kill Shedletsky.
To the point of no return.
When they saw Noobador again, the weight of their world came crashing down on them, painful memories that refused to stay silent.
Red and Blue weren’t once the foolish kids training in the blackrock kingdom. Why can’t boss just trust them, just this once?
Now, they stood on top of the roblox HQ, digging their swords into Shedletsky’s sweet flesh.
“I can’t let you do this. But I know there’s nothing I can do to stop you.” It was like a bitter pill Noobador had to swallow. He squeezed his eyes shut, letting Player and Kyoko take over.
Quickly, they assumed their fighting positions, easily blocking the kids’ attacks. The fight won’t take long, for Noobador’s and his kids’ sakes.
