Chapter Text
Veronica sighed. She didn’t know what time it was, but based on where the moon was, it was probably already three in the morning. She was standing outside a random 7/11, trying to fill her car with gas when something caught her eye. That was that weird kid from school; what was his name? Jason something. J.B? J.C? Who knows?
What was weird was that he was all the way out here, especially at this hour. A Cherry Slurpee was pressed in between his fingers. Veronica had seen him in class, he’d only been at school for a little over a month. Veronica very cautiously approached him; he seemed to have recognized her.
“Greetings and salutations" He says, one hand combing through his thick black hair
“Why are you all the way out here?” Veronica asks, thoroughly confused by his presence
“Was about to ask the same for you”
“Chandler threatened to kill me,” she explains with a casualness in her voice that can only barely summarize what life is like at Westerburg High. “You?”
“Ah, I see, playing it safe. Smart, I wouldn’t get in Heather’s way either. My dad’s on a work trip.”
“Where to?” Veronica asks, secretly hoping they would let her tag along
“Seattle, sounds boring”
“YE-Ahem.. That’s where I’m planning on going”
“You wanna tag along? I’m sure my dad won’t mind”
“That’d be nice. But what about my car?" She asked
He glanced at it briefly before saying, “My dad can take care of that,” without much context.
“C’mon, my dad’s about to leave,” Jason Whatever-The-Fuck gestured to a nice-looking black truck, leading Veronica in the backseat with him.
Veronica noticed a man in the front seat, immediately, one thing came to mind, "My name's Big Bud Dean, if it's in the way, I'll make your day!” That was it! Jason Dean! But that means…
“Is that…” Veronica started
“Big Bud Dean? Yeah” Jason finished
He sounded almost a little ashamed, but Bud didn’t seem to care, a wide smile spreading across his face
“If it's in the way, I’ll make your day!”
Veronica laughed, and J.D was pretending to look out the window, clearly a little embarrassed.
After hours they finally arrived in Seattle, somehow, Veronica’s car was already there, the house was already furnished, like someone had already moved them in for them.
J.D and Veronica ended up having to share a bedroom, as they hadn’t planned on needing three bedrooms.
“Uhm…” Veronica awkwardly shuffled into the bed she’d have to share with J.D, she swore she wouldn’t be able to fall asleep, from the adrenaline of the last few hours. But she ended up drifting off just as her head hit the pillow.
Turns out everything ended up okay
For now at least
