All full-blooded fae have a string, one that leads them to their destined lover, the one who they will love for eternity.
The one they are bound to by fate.
Humans, Merfolk, and Beastmen don't have the string of fate like the fae do. In fact, they don’t have any tug at all.
Half Fae? They still have that pull. That tug towards the one they are forever tied to. But the visible string was missing, the string that would help guide them to their forever.

Sebek was sitting in his room after his 'big talk with Lilia' that had essentially exploded in his face. He sat stunned in complete shock at the realization. He had no idea what to do, how could he have fallen in love with Silver? It made no sense . Silver is human after all. He can't love a human.

“Sebek, are you in love with my son?” Lilia asks, his brows furrowing, voice growing slightly stern.
Sebek was stunned into silence, unsure of what to say
“Lilia-Sama-! I'm not sure, that is why I have come to ask for your assistance. I do not know how to feel about silver-” he trailed off near the end, his normally loud way of speaking becoming quiet, not wanting Silver to hear if he was anywhere near by.
Lilia didn't say anything for a minute, catching Sebek slightly off guard. Lilia usually gave good advice on many situations, so his silence was a bit unexpected.
However once Lilia starts talking once more, his nervousness fades the moment he hears Lilia's usual chuckle “Oh, Sebek! Calm down, truly, I'm not angry at you. You can not control your heart and who it decides to fall towards.”
Lilia's sudden reassurance easily calms Sebek’s nerves, but also easily manages to cause his face to turn a slight shade of pink at the implication that he was in love with Silver
Lilia had proceeded to explain to Sebek the concept of soulmates, the meaning behind them, while also explaining that half fae aren't able to see the string unlike full blooded fae are. While also successfully teasing Sebek in the process.
Sebek had nodded along with everything that Lilia had said. He thanked Lilia for his advice and decided it was best to try and retire for the night, sleep, and think about later. About half way through the night he realized attempting to sleep early was a pointless endeavor, his mind far too loud to let him rest.

The next morning started off normal, Sebek had woken up, completed his usual morning routine, then went to patrol around Diasomnia. He was actively trying to avoid Silver at every turn, he really did not want to see the other male just yet. However, life had other plans for poor Sebek. While he was making his rounds, he ran into Silver AND Malleus. And if it wasn't for Malleus' presence, he would have ran the exact moment he saw Silver. Except, he had far too much respect for Malleus to do such a thing in his presence, especially when Silver was there as well. So, all he could do was suck it up and greet them both.
Sebek waited to say anything to the two older men until they were close enough to notice his presence . Malleus became aware of Sebek after a moment, slightly confused as to why he hadn't said anything, considering Sebek was usually quite loud. His thought was cut short when Sebek finally greeted Malleus in his usual loud way. - “Malleus-sama! Good morning!”
Malleus smiled at Sebek, nodding at his greeting. When Malleus went to open his mouth to speak, he was suddenly cut off by Sebek “My apologies Malleus-Sama! I must be off immediately to finish my morning patrol!-”
Sebek gave Malleus a deep bow in farewell, when he lifted his head, he found himself looking straight into Silver's eyes. Caught off guard by this, Sebek freezes for just a moment. Unsure of what to do or say in this uncomfortable situation, Sebek jolts upright and practically flees from the scene, leaving both of the older men slightly stunned.

Sebek had no idea what that was. He hardly had anything to do aside from his patrol around Diasomnia, he could have stayed and talked if he truly wanted to, and he did! He would have loved to talk to Malleus more if he had permitted him to do so, but the thought of Silver being there made his insides twist in the weirdest way possible. Still, he decided to ignore that uncomfortable feeling that Lilia had previously explained and continue on his patrol.
Throughout the rest of the day, Sebek wasn't fully there. His mind drifting back to thoughts of Silver. He didn't want to believe the fact he liked his fellow knight. He couldn't like silver. He shouldn't.
Sebek thinks back to his conversation with Lilia, the older man had explained more about the fae, specifically about the strings of fate and soulmates, as he had a slight suspicion of what Sebek and Siver were to each other.
When Sebek was able to accurately find Silver on multiple different occasions while having no prior knowledge as to his whereabouts, Lilia had become near certain his suspicions were true..
Thinking back on it, Sebek should have been able to see the signs. He had read so many romance books and all the signs were there. How could he not figure out the fact that he and Silver were soulmates this whole time?
He had no idea how to bring this up to Silver. How to tell him that they were quite literally bound together by fate. Honestly, Silver could easily think he's lying, could believe that Sebek was just making the whole situation up. Sebek found himself spiraling into thoughts of what ifs, not wanting the other man to think such things of him.
He had accepted the fact that he was in love with Silver by now, even though he didn't want to. Lilia's previous words had helped ease the thought for him, he was still confused on why he liked Silver. He could think of a few reasons as to why, such as how easily animals flock to him, how pretty he looks while he's asleep, how kind he can be to others and a few other things he'd rather not admit.
For once, Sebek truly didn't know what to do.
