Chapter Text
eventually, a couple.. maybe days later, rene was finished up with a trial, and god was she tired. the only thing she could think of right now was drawing, and drawing alone wasn’t fun..
so they decided to find someone to draw with.
rosalia wasn’t exactly a good idea, despite them being friends, rosalia was bound to ask her to draw her eventually, and millicent..? No. just no.
only one person to go to now.. and no it wasn’t taylor. taylor would apparently rather die than draw for someone else.
yeona jeung.
after wandering around for a bit, reading all the nameplates on different cabins' front door, she found what he was looking for. “..Is this it?”
rene wasn’t exactly sure what she was looking for, but based on the way taylor had pronounced it earlier, they had a good idea on what they were looking for. using his free arm and holding his notebook in the other, she knocked.
Baby knock knock knock on ma door 쉽게 열리지는 않을 거야
not long after they knocked, a short, chubby brown skinned girl with long brown, borderline black hair and a beanie on top of her head peeked out and answered, head slightly tilted.
“hi..?”
“oh, hello. um.. are you yeona? yeona jeung?” rene asked, looking down at the girl. “oh. uh.. yeah!” yeona spoke and nodded quickly, “do you.. urm.. need me?” she blurted, unsure of who rene possibly could’ve been. “sorta, yeah. one of my friends around here said you were.. like.. cool to hang with.” rene replied, trying his best to seem calm and mature..
but damn the girl infront of her was cute as hell.
rene didn’t even notice herself begin to blush, clearly showing through the pale splotches of vitiligo on his face.
Yeona did though.. but she didn’t say anything. she just assumed it was a little hot out. especially for Rene, since they were stuck wearing a sweater eternally like she was.
“who.. on earth said that..?” yeona looked puzzled while speaking, as most of the people here practically considered her a waste of oxygen. “are you friends with kyle or something??” yeona questioned.
“..who’s kyle..?” rene furrowed his brows.
“Oh.. nevermind. forget it.” yeona answered quickly again, shaking her head as she did “but.. do you actually wanna hang out?” she looked up at rene with ever-curious brown eyes, almost looking like an sad hamster.
“yeah.. in your cabin, if you wouldn’t mind.” rene clarified, grabbing on and fidgeting with one of the strings of her scarf, clutching her notebook tighter and trying her best not to make eye contact, as every time he did, he felt his heart rate ever so slightly go faster.
it was weird for rene, she’d never felt like this for anyone before, especially not someone they’d just met. and knowing that almost everyone here saw yeona as nothing more than an annoying weirdo, she had one too many worries on if he should let her heart lead her instead of her cognitive thinking.
hell, she didn’t even know how old the girl was.
“oh-! hmm..” yeona peeked back into her cabin for a split second, before looking back at rene, “sure! i’ve got a lot of stuff.. and this is sorta the first time anyone’s tried to.. hang out!” yeona smiled before opening the door fully and turning around. “come in!” she beamed.
Anderdingus
rene walked in and the girls room was decorated floor to ceiling in a cutesy-pastel style, with an unsual amount of posters on the wall, all in korean.
the walls were luckily still the dark oak of any normal cabin, so it added a nice contrast.
“goodness.. how’d you get all this?” rene spoke, looking around in awe.
“they give you stuff for every year you’re here! i’ve been here since 2010, so.. i’ve had some time to stock up!” she elaborated, chuckling slightly after saying it.. as she’d already realized the severity of the situation long ago. after 5 years of not seeing the normal world, you start to think you might never see it again.
“oh.. huh..” rene didn’t know how exactly to reply.
they didn’t like the idea of being here long enough for a person they knew to be a full grown adult by the time she might’ve gotten out.
“is it okay if i sit on your couch?” he asked, trying to lighten up the subject. or maybe switch it a little so he wouldn’t have to think about the future.
“oh! sure! feel free to sit anywhere as long as it doesn’t break anything!” yeona would grin and glance at rene as she walked over to her desk and sat in a white office chair, and rolled over to the coffee table where rene was sitting at.
“ouh! you draw?!” yeona excitedly asked, leaning over the coffee table in her chair as she saw rene placing down their notebook.
“oh, yeah. you wanna see some?” they looked up at her for a second before immediately averting their gaze..
this girl was prettier than any piece that rene could draw.
“yeah!! i wanna see!” she smiled, barely able to contain her happiness as she hopped off her chair and sat next to rene
rene flipped open his notebook until she found some pages they didn’t hate.

“ouuuhh!! these are reeally cute!!” yeona squealed, “especially this one! who’s that?” she cocked her head as she pointed to the drawing of a woman with extraordinary features and notably long hair.
“oh, that’s uhh.. a character i like from this one show..” rene nervously replied, as they always felt talking about her interests would weird people out, especially people she’d just met.
yeona squinted at the paper a little, “hy.. una?” she’d barely manage to make out rene’s handwriting. “is she korean?” yeona looked up to rene with wide eyes, head still tilted, but a little more towards the paper this time. “i think.. they never really confirmed the ethnicities of the characters but, hyuna looks sorta blasian..”
rene wasn’t really sure what to say.. not only did they show they enjoyed have very very minimal content, but yeonas presence made them just a little more nervous. not because the girl weirded him out, far from that infact.
yeona eventually broke his unusually lovey-dicey train of thought with a loud giggle, “she’s just like me then!” she declared, still smiling, and eventually laying herself down on the couch, legs hanging off just next to rene so they wouldn’t get uncomfortable with her.
“y’know.. i also draw sometimes..!” yeona eventually admitted, sensing that rene didn’t really have much to say.
“really?” rene perked, looking down at her before coming up with the greatest plan he’d ever have.
“hm.. maybe we could draw together some time then?”
the question was simple, but little did rene know, that’d be the start of something they’d never see coming.
