My moonlight

Chapter Text

Akito continued his wander, making his way to tue edge of the village. He came to a stop by the park, the chattering from the market fading away behind him. He opened the creaky gate and walked across the grass, finding the old wooden bench. He took a seat on the left side, leaving the right side open. They used to go there all the time, laughing and messing about on the swings. And they would always sit on that bench.

He looked around, the sun having fully set. The stars had properly emerged, lighting up the sky in a different colour.

White.

It was the colour of peace, the colour of the flags on that day, the day that he lost him. Yet he didn’t feel sad anymore. He felt at peace, almost, like he finally understood something he never understood before.

Accompanying the stars was the moon. It was a crescent, yet it still glowed, easily outshining the stars.

He smiled, looking up to it.

“Hey Toya,” he started, his eyes watering. “It’s been a while. I still miss you. At first I didn't know how I was gonna live without you man. It seemed impossible.”
He smiled
"But I understand it now. You never really left me. The moon never leaves, sometimes you just can't see it. I love you Toya. I'm gonna love, for you.

He looked around, seeing the cars parked on the side of the road.

“Also,” he continued, laughing slightly. “I owe you a drink.”
