Chapter Text
“Spiderman once again rescuing citizens on a bridge from the collapse,” the TV in the corner of the cafe announced, showing footage of him carefully carrying four people to safety at once
Bakugo watched with a small, fond smile tugging at his lips, his hands wrapped warmly around his coffee cup as he leaned back in his chair. The door to the cafe suddenly slammed open, drawing his attention. He spotted Kirishima heading straight toward him, a bright grin on his face as he unwrapped his scarf and plopped down in the seat across from him
“Hey Kats, sorry I’m late,” Kirishima said cheerfully
“It’s fine,” Bakugo replied, setting his cup down. “What did you want to talk about?”
Kirishima reached into his coat and pulled out a small velvet box, placing it carefully on the table in front of him. Bakugo’s eyes widened as he took in the ring inside
“No shit…” he breathed, looking up at his friend with surprise. Kirishima was smiling ear to ear
“Yep.”
“Shit. When do you plan on proposing?” Bakugo asked, taking a slow sip from his drink to hide the mix of emotions swirling inside him
“Next week- maybe sooner,” Kirishima shrugged, a soft blush creeping up his neck. “I just really wanna marry her.”
Bakugo smiled, the expression genuine. “I’m happy for you. Mina will be thrilled.”
“I sure hope so. I’m kinda nervous,” Kirishima admitted, rubbing the back of his neck
“Everyone knows she’ll say yes. You two are madly in love with each other, it’s sickening,” Bakugo teased lightly
Kirishima laughed, loud and warm. Bakugo was truly happy for his friend, he really was, but at the same time, a sharp pang of jealousy twisted in his chest. Jealous that after so many years, they still had each other, still had that unwavering love
It made him miss a certain someone even more. It had been four long years now, and Bakugo was still waiting
“Anyways, I wanted you to be the first one to know since you’re my best friend and one of Mina’s too,” Kirishima said, still beaming
“Congrats, dude,” Bakugo said with a smirk
“Don’t congratulate me too early,” Kirishima replied with a nervous laugh
“Tch, shut the fuck up,” Bakugo rolled his eyes, though a low chuckle escaped him
“Oh, another thing I wanted to talk to you about,” Kirishima said, his expression turning more serious and worried. “We wanted to invite Izuku as well. I know we haven’t seen him in years since he’s been so busy and all, but he was one of our close friends.”
Bakugo stared down at the table, fingers tightening slightly around his coffee cup. “That’s fine.”
“I doubt he’d come though, but we wanted to try,” Kirishima added gently
Bakugo just nodded, not trusting himself to say more. All of their friends, except Uraraka, still don’t know the truth about Izuku being Spiderman. He had given them the excuse that Izuku had moved away for work and they had broken up because of the long distance. Everyone had been upset, but no one had questioned the lie too deeply
The conversation eventually shifted back to the proposal. They talked about plans, the party, where Kirishima might pop the question, and how Mina would react. Bakugo listened and offered his usual blunt but supportive opinions, even managing a few genuine laughs
By the time they went their separate ways, it was already dark out. Not wanting to return to his quiet, lonely apartment just yet, Bakugo decided to take a walk around the nearby park. It was cold, the winter air biting at his skin, but he didn’t care
He had his face buried deep in a thick scarf, hands tucked into gloves, and a nice long, warm coat wrapped around him. When he arrived at the park, he spotted only a few people, the rest of it mostly empty and peaceful. Christmas decorations twinkled softly on the trees- colorful lights and ornaments swaying gently in the breeze. There were only two weeks left until Christmas. Another Christmas alone. Another Christmas without Izuku
After half an hour of slow walking, Bakugo sat down on a quiet bench. He tilted his head back and stared up at the clear night sky, breath visible in the cold air as his thoughts drifted far away
A shooting star streaked across the night sky not long after he sat down. Bakugo closed his eyes almost instinctively, the cold air nipping at his cheeks as he made a silent wish, that Izuku would return to him soon
“Ugh, that was fucking stupid,” Bakugo clicked his tongue in annoyance at himself, rubbing the back of his neck. He pushed himself up from the bench, stuffing his hands deeper into his coat pockets as he started walking back toward his empty apartment
Two weeks later.
“Katsuki sweetie, will you be joining us for dinner tomorrow?” Mitsuki’s loud, cheerful voice came through the phone
“Yeah, Mom. I’ll bake cookies, the ones you and dad like,” Bakugo replied, balancing his phone between his shoulder and ear while he washed the dishes
“Oh yes! Please make extra. We’ll have some company for dinner tomorrow,” she added excitedly
“Really, Mom?” Bakugo groaned, scrubbing a plate a little harder than necessary
“Stop complaining, son. Just dress your best and get your ass here by 6 pm,” Mitsuki ordered before promptly hanging up without giving him a chance to argue
Bakugo sighed deeply, staring at the sink for a moment. “Love you too, Mom,” he muttered to the empty kitchen. He wiped his hands on a dish towel and set his phone down on the counter
He started wondering who the surprise company might be, but didn’t dwell on it too much. Probably just one of his uncles or aunts from his mother’s side coming over for the holidays. Nothing out of the ordinary
**
The night of the Christmas dinner finally arrived. Bakugo knocked on the front door of his parents’ house, the container of freshly baked cookies warm in his hands. Masaru opened the door with a bright, welcoming smile
“Merry Christmas, Katsuki.”
“Merry Christmas, Dad,” Bakugo replied, stepping inside and pulling his father into a quick, one armed hug while carefully moving the container out of the way. “Where’s Mom?” he asked as he slipped off his shoes and headed toward the kitchen
“Getting ready upstairs,” Masaru answered casually
Bakugo hummed in response, placing the container of cookies on the kitchen counter. “Do you know who’s coming tonight?”
“Just someone,” Masaru said simply, not giving away any hints as he stirred something on the stove
Bakugo rolled his eyes but didn’t push it. He wandered into the living room and dropped onto the couch, the soft lights from the decorated tree casting a gentle glow across the room
Mitsuki finally came down the stairs a couple of minutes later, looking festive and elegant. “Hey, Katsuki.”
“Hey, Ma. Merry Christmas,” he said, standing up to pull her into a warm hug
“Merry Christmas,” she replied, kissing his cheek affectionately. “Shall we start eating?”
“And the visitor? Don’t tell me they’re late,” Bakugo crossed his arms over his chest, frowning slightly. “That’s rude.”
Mitsuki smiled mysteriously, waving her hand dismissively. “They’ll be here, don’t worry.” She paused, then added, “Oh- silly me. I forgot to close the window in your old room. Can you be a dear and go up and close it for me?”
Bakugo internally groaned but nodded. “Yes, Mom.” He headed up the stairs, wondering why she would have even opened the window in the first place. It was way too cold outside for that
He opens the door to his old room. Bakugo’s eyebrows furrow in confusion, his window isn’t even open. His eyes then land on his bed, and his heart nearly stops
There’s a big, beautiful bouquet of flowers resting on the neatly made bed, accompanied by a box of his favorite chocolates. Bakugo walks over slowly, almost in a daze, and picks up the bouquet. He notices a small card tucked among the blooms. With slightly trembling fingers, he picks it up and reads it
Merry Christmas
A soft thud sounds behind him. He spins around, eyes widening in shock. Izuku is standing there by the doorway, looking at him with that soft, gentle smile he remembered so well
“Hey, Kacchan.”
“Izuku?” Bakugo rubs his eyes, half convinced he’s imagining it, but Izuku is still standing there, real and solid, with that same warm expression
“Merry Christmas,” Izuku says softly, pulling a wrapped gift from behind his back
Bakugo doesn’t hesitate. He runs straight into his arms, throwing his arms around Izuku’s shoulders and burying his face in his neck. Tears sprang to his eyes almost instantly. “You came back…”
“I promised you,” Izuku whispered, his strong arms wrapping tightly around Bakugo’s waist, pulling him impossibly closer. “I missed you so, so much.”
“I missed you too,” Bakugo murmured against his shoulder, voice thick with emotion
Izuku gently pulled back just enough to cup Bakugo’s face in his hands, thumbs brushing away the tears. “God, you look even more beautiful.”
Bakugo’s whole face burned bright red, his cheeks flushing deeply as he shyly looked away. “Don’t be so cheesy,” he murmured, though the small, shy smile on his lips betrayed how much he loved hearing it
“How can I not be cheesy?” Izuku murmured, his voice low. “I thought about this day for years.” He gently rubbed his thumb across Bakugo’s flushed cheek, coaxing him to look back up
“Me too… every day,” Bakugo whispered
Izuku leaned down slowly, giving him a moment to breathe, before finally capturing his lips in a deep, heartfelt kiss. The world seemed to fade away as their mouths moved together- soft at first, then growing more desperate and hungry with every second. Izuku tasted like home, like everything he had missed for four long years. The kiss was slow and reverent, full of relief, love, and quiet promises
Bakugo jumped up without thinking, wrapping his legs tightly around Izuku’s torso. Izuku’s strong hands immediately slid under his thighs to support him, holding him securely as he pressed their bodies even closer. The kiss deepened, tongues brushing, breaths mingling, and soft, needy sounds escaping between them. Izuku’s fingers dug gently into Bakugo’s thighs, while Bakugo’s hands tangled in messy green curls, pulling him impossibly closer as if afraid he might disappear again
Izuku starts walking backward without breaking the kiss, guiding them until the front of his knees bump against the edge of the bed. He lowers Bakugo down slowly, carefully, never once pulling away as he hovers over him, one hand braced beside his head while the other cradles the back of his neck.
“Kacchan… Kacchan,” Izuku pants hotly into his mouth, the name like a prayer after so many years apart
“Missed you so much,” he whispers, voice rough with emotion as he nips gently at Bakugo’s swollen bottom lip. “Missed my princess.”
Bakugo lets out a shaky, needy moan at the familiar nickname, his body arching up instinctively. He threads his fingers through Izuku’s messy green curls and tugs firmly, earning a deep, guttural groan from the man above him. Izuku takes the hint, pulling back just enough to trail hot, open mouthed kisses along the sensitive skin of Bakugo’s neck. He sucks and bites gently, leaving faint marks as he goes, savoring every shiver and quiet gasp he draws out
Bakugo tilts his head back further, offering more access, his hands roaming down Izuku’s back and gripping his shirt tightly. The weight of Izuku pressing him into the mattress feels grounding, safe, and overwhelming all at once. The air in the room grows thick and warm
Seeming to remember that his parents were still waiting downstairs, Bakugo reluctantly pulled away from the kiss, breathing heavily. The taste of Izuku still lingered on his lips. “Izuku,” he heaved, cheeks burning and heart racing. “We have to head downstairs.”
Izuku kissed the corner of his lips one last time, soft and lingering, his breath warm against Bakugo’s skin. “Okay, Kacchan.” He stood up slowly, helping Bakugo to his feet. The solid warmth of Izuku’s hands on his waist sent a shiver down his spine. “We’ll finish this?”
“Yeah,” Bakugo nodded, still a little dazed, the scent of Izuku’s cologne clinging to him. He reached up to fix Izuku’s slightly crooked tie with careful fingers, feeling the steady rise and fall of his chest underneath. “You got taller from the last time I saw you.”
“Mm, I grew about two more inches,” Izuku replied, as he reached out to straighten Bakugo’s tie in return. His touch was gentle but sure. “I wasn’t lying before. You got even more beautiful.”
“You don’t look so bad yourself,” Bakugo murmured, patting Izuku’s firm chest affectionately. “All ready to go. Come on.” He grabbed Izuku’s hand, intertwining their fingers as they headed down the stairs together
Mitsuki and Masaru were waiting for them in the living room, the soft glow of Christmas lights casting a warm, golden hue across the room
She clasped her hands together in excitement. “I’m so glad you’re finally back, Izuku.”
Izuku bowed politely, a warm blush still lingering on his freckled cheeks. “Thank you so much for allowing me to surprise Kacchan.”
Masaru waved his hands dismissively with a gentle laugh. “It was nothing. Katsuki is the happiest when he’s with you.”
Bakugo blushed deeply but leaned comfortably against Izuku’s side, resting his head on his broad shoulder while still holding his hand, savoring the solid, reassuring presence beside him
“Let’s go eat!” Mitsuki announced brightly, clapping her hands together
They all moved to the dining table. The air was thick with the savory aroma. For the next hour, they shared stories from the last four years, laughter echoing softly around the table as they caught up on jobs, friends, and small everyday moments. Mitsuki still didn’t know Izuku was Spiderman, so he carefully steered clear of those topics, keeping his answers light and focused on his civilian life. Still, the warmth and joy in the room were genuine
When they finished dinner, Bakugo stood up to retrieve the cookies from the kitchen. He returned carrying the plate, the sweet, buttery scent of freshbaked cookies wafting through the air. The moment he sat back down beside Izuku, he felt those familiar green eyes staring at him intently
“I baked these cookies. My parents really like them,” Bakugo said, placing the plate in the center of the table
“It looks very yummy, Kacchan,” Izuku murmured, immediately wrapping his strong arms around Bakugo’s waist and pulling him closer, the solid warmth of his body grounding and comforting
“The cookies are delicious. Katsuki became a very good baker,” Masaru said warmly, already reaching for one
“I’m alright,” Bakugo shrugged modestly, though a small pleased smile tugged at his lips. He grabbed a cookie and held it up to Izuku’s mouth. “Here, try.”
Izuku didn’t take it with his hands. Instead, he leaned down slowly, green eyes locked on Bakugo’s as he took a deliberate bite straight from his fingers. “Mm! It is very good!” he praised, voice low and appreciative
Bakugo rolled his eyes, cheeks warming, but continued feeding him the cookie in small bites. He grabbed one for himself, the crumbly sweetness melting on his tongue. Mitsuki chatted animatedly with Izuku across the table, but Bakugo barely paid attention to the conversation. He stayed contentedly tucked against Izuku’s side, soaking in the steady heat of his body, the familiar scent of his skin, and the quiet joy of simply being close again
“Katsuki sweetie,” Mitsuki called gently
“Yes?” He looked over at his mom. She was smiling at him softly, eyes warm with affection
“It’s time to open presents now.”
“Oh. Right.” Bakugo glanced briefly at Izuku, a flutter of nervous excitement in his chest, before standing up from the table
Instead of heading to the living room with everyone else, Bakugo quietly slipped upstairs to his old bedroom. He went straight to his closet, heart beating a little faster as he pulled out a carefully wrapped gift from the very back. It was the present he had bought for Izuku three years ago, something he had kept hidden, waiting for the day he might finally return. The paper was slightly faded now, but the weight of it in his hands felt heavy
He headed back downstairs, the wooden steps creaking softly under his feet. The others were already gathered near the Christmas tree
Bakugo settled back down beside Izuku, their thighs brushing comfortably. “Alright, let me go first!” Mitsuki giggled, practically bouncing as she went to the tree and picked out a gift. She sat next to Masaru and handed it to him with a bright smile. “Merry Christmas, honey.”
Masaru leaned in and gave her a sweet, lingering kiss on the lips before tearing open the wrapping. He pulled out a sleek pair of sneakers and broke into a wide, genuine smile. “I’ve been eyeing these shoes for months.”
He stood up shortly after and retrieved a gift for Mitsuki. She opened it with eager hands and gasped loudly. “Masaru- these must’ve cost a fortune!” She held up a beautiful set of earrings and a matching necklace, the gems catching the light beautifully
“I’ve saved up for them for a year,” Masaru said softly, looking at her with pure adoration. “You deserve everything.”
Mitsuki let out a delighted squeal and practically jumped on him, kissing him aggressively. Bakugo gagged dramatically
“Get a room, oh my god.”
Mitsuki pulled back with a smirk, still half in Masaru’s lap. “Oh shut up! This is my house and I’ll do as I please.” She stuck her tongue out like a child
“Well, you invited me here and I don’t want to see that!” Bakugo shot back
She sat back properly, rolling her eyes. “You better be out of this house in the next hour then, because I’ll do more with your father.” Masaru turned bright red beside her
“For fuck sake,” Bakugo grumbled, rubbing his face. Izuku just laughed warmly beside him, clearly amused and unbothered
They continued exchanging gifts. Mitsuki gave Izuku a nice pair of high quality gloves and Bakugo a sturdy pair of winter boots. Masaru handed Izuku a thick, interesting looking book and Bakugo a soft, warm scarf
Bakugo then gave both of his parents tickets for a week long trip to the Bahamas. Mitsuki squealed in pure excitement, while Masaru pulled him into a grateful hug, murmuring a big thank you
Now it was Bakugo’s turn to give Izuku his gift. He reached down and pulled out the carefully wrapped box he had retrieved earlier, suddenly feeling a little nervous. He handed it over with a quiet breath
“I’ve had this for a while now… but Merry Christmas, Izuku.”
“Wow,” Izuku breathed, a bright smile spreading across his face as he accepted the gift. He carefully tore open the wrapping paper, and his eyes widened the moment he saw what was inside. It was a rare, limited edition All Might trading card, complete with an authentic signature
“You- how?!” Izuku’s voice rose in disbelief as he stared at the card in awe, turning it gently in his hands to catch the light. “This is like one in a million!” He finally lifted his gaze to Bakugo, eyes shining with pure joy
“Found some small, dusty store that was selling it,” Bakugo shrugged, trying to play it cool even as warmth bloomed in his chest. “The old man at the counter told me I got really lucky.”
“You did! Oh my god, Kacchan, this is amazing.” Izuku leaned in and kissed him sweetly on the cheek, lingering for a second. “This is the best thing anyone has ever given me.”
“It’s whatever,” Bakugo muttered, though the tips of his ears turned pink
“Oh! And your gift…” Izuku suddenly looked over at Bakugo’s parents, growing visibly shy. “I- um… I want to give it to you in private,” he said, turning back to him
“Sure,” Bakugo replied, glancing at his mom and subtly nudging his head toward the stairs
“Fine,” Mitsuki sighed dramatically, though she was smiling. “We’ll be upstairs.”
Once they were finally alone, the living room quiet except for the soft crackling of the fireplace, Izuku reached into his pocket and pulled out a small, elegant box. “I-it’s not much,” he said nervously, handing it to Bakugo
Bakugo unwrapped it carefully, his breath catching in his throat the moment he opened the box. A sleek, beautifully crafted ring sat inside
“What-” he gasped, eyes widening
“Kacchan,” Izuku said softly, gently grabbing Bakugo’s hand and bringing it close to his face. He pressed a tender kiss to the back of his knuckles, then another to his palm. “You are the best thing that’s ever happened to me. Back when we were in college, I thought you were the prettiest thing I’d ever laid my eyes on. You still are. You’re so smart, so handsome, and kind in your own stubborn way. These last four years have been so hard… but knowing you were waiting for me made it bearable. It’s not a wedding ring, but it’s a promise ring. A promise that you’ll be mine and I’ll be yours, forever. For the rest of our lives.”
Bakugo watched, heart pounding, as Izuku carefully took the ring out of the box. Izuku lifted Bakugo’s left hand gently and slowly slid the promise ring onto his ring finger. It fit perfectly, cool at first against his skin before warming quickly
“Wow… it’s beautiful,” Bakugo breathed out, staring down at it. The band was simple yet elegant, with a subtle engraving he could feel under his thumb when he brushed over it
Izuku smiled softly and placed both hands on Bakugo’s lower back, pulling him forward with easy strength. Bakugo moved without resistance, settling onto Izuku’s lap so they were face to face, their bodies pressed close. He could feel the steady heat of Izuku’s thighs beneath him
“So…” Izuku murmured, voice low and a little nervous as his hands settled comfortably on Bakugo’s waist, thumbs brushing small circles over his sides. “Do you accept the proposition?”
Bakugo looked at him for a long moment, eyes soft despite the smirk tugging at his lips. “Of course I fucking do, you doofus.”
The words had barely left his mouth before he leaned in, capturing Izuku’s lips in a deep, heartfelt kiss. Izuku’s arms tightened around him
Bakugo rested his hands on Izuku’s chest, feeling the firm, solid muscle that had grown even more defined. Izuku let out a soft, contented sigh and brought one hand up to cup Bakugo’s cheek, holding him with such gentle care it felt like he was the most precious thing in the world
“Let’s go back to my place,” Bakugo mouthed against his lips, barely a whisper
“Should we-?” Izuku pulled back just enough for their breaths to mingle, hot and shared in the small space between them. “How about finishing Christmas with your parents?”
“Eh, I doubt they care,” Bakugo muttered, already leaning in again
“Alright… let’s go say goodbye.”
Bakugo stood up slowly, brushing his hands down his pants to straighten them. He held out his hand, and Izuku took it without hesitation, their fingers intertwining naturally as he rose to his feet
“Oi! Izuku and I are leaving!” Bakugo yelled up the stairs
It only took a couple of seconds before his parents appeared at the top of the staircase. Mitsuki descended first, Masaru following close behind
“Oh, so soon?” Mitsuki asked, though her knowing smile suggested she wasn’t surprised at all
“Uhh yeah, we just want to talk privately,” Izuku chuckled, rubbing the back of his neck with his free hand, a light blush dusting his freckled cheeks. “But we’ll come back tomorrow morning. Right, Kacchan?”
“If I can walk tomorrow, sure,” Bakugo replied bluntly
Izuku wheezed out an awkward laugh, eyes darting between Bakugo and his parents. “We will definitely come by! Have a good night, Mrs. and Mr. Bakugo.” He gave Masaru a quick, firm handshake and pulled Mitsuki into a warm hug.
Bakugo gave both of his parents a short nod, then grabbed Izuku’s hand again, tugging him toward the front door
Opening his eyes, Bakugo reached across the mattress only to find cool sheets and an empty space where Izuku should have been. He sat up slowly, the soft morning light filtering through the curtains. A deep stretch pulled at sore muscles, especially the persistent ache low in his back that made him hiss under his breath. He yawned, rubbing the sleep from his eyes with the heels of his palms, then swung his legs over the side of the bed
He stood carefully, testing his balance, and crossed the room. Pulling open a drawer, he grabbed a clean pair of dark sweatpants and a soft black t-shirt, dressing without hurry. The apartment was quiet except for the faint clink of cooking coming from the kitchen
He padded barefoot down the short hallway and stopped in the doorway. Izuku stood at the stove, completely shirtless. The smell of butter and eggs filled the small space. Bakugo’s gaze lingered, heat stirring low in his stomach despite the residual soreness. If his body didn’t feel so thoroughly used from the night before, he would have crossed the room and dropped to his knees right there
“Mornin’,” Bakugo said, voice still rough with sleep
Izuku turned at the sound, spatula in one hand, a bright smile breaking across his freckled face. “Kacchan! Good morning!” He gestured toward the island with the pan. “I’m making you breakfast, so go sit.”
Bakugo raised an eyebrow as he walked over and slid onto one of the stools. “Since when did you get good at cooking anything other than eggs?”
“Well, when you’ve been by yourself for four years, you have nothing to do but learn,” Izuku answered with a small shrug, turning back to the stove. The muscles in his back flexed as he stirred, and Bakugo found himself watching without shame
“Mmm,” Bakugo hummed, resting his chin in one hand. “What a great way to start the morning.” The smirk that followed was slow and deliberate
Izuku glanced over his shoulder, catching the look. A knowing smile curved his lips. “Oh?”
“Oi. Turn around and keep cooking,” Bakugo snapped, though there was no real heat in it
“Yes, baby,” Izuku replied, the endearment soft and teasing as he faced the stove again, the quiet sizzle of eggs filling the air
For the next ten minutes Bakugo simply watched
He stayed quiet on the stool, chin propped in one hand, eyes following every movement as Izuku moved around the small kitchen. The soft pad of bare feet on tile, the quiet clink of utensils, the way Izuku’s shoulders shifted when he flipped something in the pan, Bakugo took it all in without a word. The morning light had grown warmer, spilling across the counter and catching on the faint marks still visible along Izuku’s collarbones from the night before
When the cooking finally stopped, Izuku turned with two plates in his hands and set one carefully in front of Bakugo. A golden omelet sat beside two perfectly fluffy pancakes, steam still rising from the surface. The rich smell of butter and eggs filled the space
“Wow. This looks good,” Bakugo said, and he meant it. It didn’t just look good, it smelled even better
“Thank you, Kacchan.” Izuku slid onto the stool next to him, their shoulders brushing. “It’s not as good as your cooking, but…” He gave a small, self conscious shrug
Bakugo cut into the omelet and took a bite. The difference from the last time he’d tasted Izuku’s cooking was almost ridiculous. Years ago Izuku had burned rice, left pasta half raw, and somehow managed to make even toast taste wrong. Now the eggs were soft and seasoned just right, the pancakes light and slightly sweet. Bakugo’s eyes widened. He kept eating without pause, fork moving steadily
“God,” he muttered around a mouthful, covering his lips with the back of his hand, “this is crazy good, Izuku. What the fuck.” He glanced sideways at him
Izuku laughed under his breath, a warm, pleased sound. “Thanks again, Kacchan. It took a lot of practice.” He draped an arm loosely over the back of Bakugo’s chair, fingers resting near his shoulder. “I wanted to surprise you when I came back.”
“I am so fucking surprised,” Bakugo admitted, already halfway through the second pancake
“Mmm.” Izuku leaned in and pressed a soft kiss to his cheek, lingering for a second. “I’ll cook lunch and dinner today too. For you. My Kacchan.”
Bakugo’s mouth curved into a slow smirk as he chewed. “Looking forward to it.”
Bakugo finished the last bite of the pancake and set his fork down with a quiet clink. He leaned back on the stool, still warm from Izuku’s arm draped behind him, and let out a content sigh
“Alright,” he muttered, wiping his mouth with a napkin. “You’re officially banned from saying you can’t cook anymore.”
Izuku grinned, clearly pleased with himself. “Deal.” He reached over and stole a small piece of the remaining omelet from Bakugo’s plate, popping it into his own mouth before Bakugo could protest
“Oi-”
“Payment for services rendered,” Izuku said around the bite, eyes sparkling with mischief
Bakugo rolled his eyes, but the corner of his mouth twitched upward. He turned on the stool so he was facing Izuku fully, then reached out and tugged lightly on the front of Izuku’s sweatpants until Izuku scooted closer. Once he was near enough, Bakugo rested his forehead against Izuku’s bare shoulder for a moment, breathing in the familiar scent of clean skin
“You’re staying,” he said quietly, not really a question
Izuku’s hand came up to cradle the back of Bakugo’s head, fingers gently threading through messy ash blond hair. “I’m staying,” he confirmed, just as soft
They sat like that for a little while, the quiet kitchen filled only with the distant sounds of the city waking up outside. Eventually Bakugo lifted his head, cheeks faintly pink, and poked Izuku in the chest with one finger
“Good. Because if you try to leave again, I’m chaining you to the bed.”
Izuku laughed, bright and warm, and leaned in to press a quick, affectionate kiss to the tip of Bakugo’s nose
“Wouldn’t dream of it, Kacchan.”
