Chapter Text
He still didn’t know how he had ended up like this.
There was no logic to what was happening to him.
How was it possible that he was pregnant…?
All because of a one-night stand with Verity in his Minecraft world. The worst part was that the pregnancy had followed him into the real world.
But he could no longer regret it. There was no time for that. Now he had to take care of himself for the baby growing inside him… he didn’t even know what was growing inside him.
He was nervous about this new responsibility. He had no idea how he was going to get through these months of pregnancy. All he did was sit on his couch, thinking about what he would do now or how he would handle this alone…
—Wait…
He grabbed his phone, looking for the contact of the only person who could help him in this difficult moment. But before dialing the number, he remembered something important.
—How the hell am I going to tell him that I’m pregnant with the child of the monster that killed him? … How am I going to tell him that I slept with Verity?
He stared at Twixxel’s contact, still thinking about what to say or how to tell him about his problem.
—Whatever destiny wants.
He called Twixxel’s number, hoping he would answer so he could ask him to come to his apartment and tell him what had happened.
—Come on, bro… pick up, don’t leave me alone with this problem…
The ringing continued for thirty seconds until he finally heard his best friend’s voice.
—Mob! What’s going on, buddy? It’s been three weeks since we last saw each other, after everything with Verity.
—Yeah, I know… I was calling to tell you that I need you to come to my apartment urgently.
—Urgently?
—Yes, it’s very urgent. So I’m waiting for you—come quickly… I need you, Twixxel.
—Alright, Mob.
The call ended. Mob felt calmer after talking to Twixxel. He was coming, and Mob would have to tell him about the pregnancy.
Everything was going to be fine. He would understand. He was his best friend and had helped him many times before, especially with Verity. Nothing bad could happen.
---
—Pregnant?!
Twixxel spat out the water he was drinking at Mob’s news.
—………
—Shit, bro, how the hell is that even possible?
Mob looked at Twixxel tiredly.
—I don’t care about that anymore. What I want to ask you is… if you could help me with the pregnancy.
—The whole nine months?
—The whole nine months…
—Obviously yes. Besides, do you know what this means?
—No?
—I’m going to be an uncle, Mob!! —Twixxel brightened up. It was strange, but it was better than the reaction Mob had expected.
—Yeah, bro… you’re going to be the uncle…
—But first… I just want to say something, bro.
—…?
—Verity? Seriously? Of all the guys we know, you chose to sleep with Verity, an AI? … Wait —Twixxel looked at Mob as if he had just discovered something he shouldn’t have— Verity has a dick?!
—Damn it, Twixxel, lower your voice… and yes, I know. I don’t know what I was thinking… it just happened.
—You need to raise your standards, bro —he crossed his arms, staring at Mob. He never thought Mob would sleep with an AI, the same one that had killed him in Minecraft— Seriously, an AI?
—That’s the second time you’ve said that last part, and yes, Twixxel… I chose an AI instead of a real person, happy?
—Okay, okay, don’t stress… that’s bad for my future favorite nephew.
—He’s the only one you’ll have.
—That’s what makes him my favorite! And don’t worry, I’ll help you and take care of you through this. I won’t leave you alone, Mob.
—Thanks, bro.
—Alright then, you’re coming to live with me.
—What?
—If I’m going to take care of you, I’m going to do it seriously. I have another room. I’ll buy books on how to take care of pregnant people for dummies, and we’ll go to those stretching sessions or swimming… I’ve heard it’s good for the baby and the mother.
—You’re the best friend, Twixxel.
—I know, I know… Well, I’m going to pack your bags so we can go home.
—I’ll help you —Before he could get up, he felt Twixxel’s hands on his shoulders, pushing him back down while looking at him with a serious face.
—No. You stay seated and don’t make any effort. I’m serious, or I’ll get mad at you.
—…Okay, okay. I’ll wait for you.
—Good! I’ll only be a few minutes.
Mob watched his friend run toward his room. He was happy. He was going to have help. He wouldn’t have to do this alone.
With that thought, he placed his right hand on his still-flat stomach, knowing his baby—or babies—were in there. With a smile, he began to stroke his stomach.
—You’re going to have the coolest uncle in the world, kid.
A thought crossed his mind.
What if Verity finds them? No, that would be impossible. He’s surely with another human by now, just like he told him before he shot himself with the gun.
Still… who is he with now? Who is the new human he has? Is he okay? He doesn’t know… In some part of his heart, he misses Verity, but it’s better this way.
Besides, it’s impossible for him to leave the Minecraft world. What would he tell his child when they ask where their father is? It’s clear he won’t say, “Well, kid, your father is an AI who lives in Minecraft and kills humans there.”
Yeah, he won’t say that. Or maybe he’ll just say he died in a car accident.
—Everything’s ready, Mob! Let’s go!
Twixxel’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts. He looked at him with a tired smile.
—Alright, let’s go, cool uncle.
—Yeah!!
The ride to Twixxel’s house was entertaining, despite the jokes about the one-night stand with Verity. But the question of Verity’s whereabouts still lingered…
Where is he?
Who is he with now?
Will Verity kill that human?
Would Verity have been a good father?
Would he have been a good husband?
If he had stayed with Verity… maybe his baby would have both parents together, like a family.
Mob…
Verity wouldn’t have let him walk in this condition, even if it was only a few weeks… he wouldn’t have let him walk.
Mob…
Verity wouldn’t have allowed Twixxel to be near him.
Mob…
Verity would have spoiled him all the time—bringing him water, food, giving him massages, and holding him all night…
—MOB!
Mob snapped out of his thoughts. He had been thinking about Verity and didn’t know why… maybe he did miss him, but he had been too obsessive, and that had scared him.
—Yeah?
—You okay, buddy? I’ve been calling you…
—Oh wow, we’re already at your house…
How long had he been lost in his thoughts?!
—Yeah, I was telling you that but you weren’t answering.
—Sorry, Twixxel… I’ve got a lot of things on my mind about the pregnancy and Verity…
—Don’t worry, Mob. Verity won’t find us. Besides, he’s probably already with some other poor human. It’s a shame… but at least we’re alive, right?
—Yeah, I think you’re right… you always are, friend.
—I know, I know, hehe.
Twixxel opened the door to his house.
—Well, welcome to your new home, Mob!
Mob smiled. Everything was going to be fine… everything would be fine if he was with Twixxel… everything would be fine.
This pregnancy would go well, and they would have a good life. This was a new adventure he wouldn’t face alone. He had Twixxel, and that was enough.
---
On another server, Verity was annoyed with Grox. He missed Mob… Mob had been the only one for him. He would never forget the night he made him his. He had been Mob’s first time, and that made him happy. He was Mob’s first and last.
Sometimes he wished he could see him again and swap Grox for Mob. He hated Grox—he was the worst human he had ever been stuck with.
One day he was going to leave Grox, and that day would come soon.
He could feel it.
