Chapter 2: WAKE TF UP!
Mood Song: You Owe Me by Malcolm Todd
"BESTIEEEE!"
Katie and Ewron squealed while running into each other, embracing in a familiar hug. Katie smiled as their arms wrapped around each other, but as soon as their heads were parallel...
her smile was gone.
There was something about Ewron that Katie noticed far before anyone else.
Ewron had always expected familiarity but tended to change many things because of his impulsive actions.
When they first landed on the island, things were amazing! Ewron was always ready to help. He donated things, complimented her, and they were besties!
Although, the title didn't quite feel the same as it did months ago.
Ewron was greedy.
He lacked boundaries,
and worst of all,
he was selfish.
He was the one who told Katie off to Dark Cucurucho and let his co-workers in the Dark Federation launch the bomb.
He essentially killed her.
As the hug continued, Katie couldn't help but glance at her texts.
Most of them were from Multi.
Katie had realized that the bombing still happened...
The grief was gone, but she could almost feel Multi's heartbeat.
She felt it in the void, and for some reason she could feel it now.
But she realized there was one emotion she still felt.
Anger.
Just like in the void, she knew that Multi was scared, which was a feeling she never fathomed Multi could feel.
Being brave and fearless was a part of himself that was shown to everyone else...
But it felt like the feelings he kept to himself could still be viewed...
Even from a distance.
As Ewron and Katie stopped hugging, Katie could easily see the smirk planted on Ewron's face.
Katie couldn't tell whether he was about to tell a sappy lie, make a joke, or hurt her just like he did countless times before.
"Bestie, I need to tell you something," Ewron said.
For a second, he seemed serious.
Katie's eyes locked onto his big eyes and his downturned eyebrows.
Ewron continued.
"I wanted to say—"
He was interrupted.
Suddenly, he backed up.
His eyes were still fixed on Katie, but he looked...
Scared?
Katie suddenly blurted something out.
"You're scared I'll never forgive you."
Ewron stopped smiling.
He was sweating.
Katie covered her mouth.
She blinked.
Ewron was frozen.
His smirk was suddenly gone.
His big eyes grew even wider.
What Katie didn't realize was that she had just blurted out his biggest fear.
The fear of something never returning.
Ewron had always lived believing things returned.
His passions returned.
His happiness returned.
But there was something that took more than himself to fulfill.
A connection that might never come back.
But what Ewron didn't realize...
was that Katie is different now.
Same humor.
Same frame.
Same girl.
But a changed perspective.
Katie looked deeply into Ewron's eyes, and something different stared back at her.
Her hair was...
glowing.
Her eyes reflected a sharp light.
She looked like the woman in the void.
Does she know who she is?
