Chapter Text
“Please! I don’t deserve this!” A man slides to his knees, begging and crying at the same time. The tears pouring down his face, soaking his clothes and the ground. The black haired man stares down at the guy with disgust.
“Say that to all the money you stole and never returned. I gave you 3 months to pay me back,” The man coldly remarks, aiming the gun at his head.
“WAIT PLEASE-“ BANG. The shot rings throughout the air, echoing back at him in the dark, empty warehouse. Blood splattered across the floor and walls, painting the place a deep crimson. The man tosses the gun aside, turning towards a pair of men in suits.
“Clean this up, no evidence left behind,” The guy sharply orders.
“Yes sir!” The men say in unison, quickly discarding the weapon and cleaning up the blood left behind.
“Hey Kageyama,” Another man with black hair walks over to him, though his hair is much spiky and all over the place. “Get the job done?”
“Of course I did,” The man named Kageyama replies. “I always do.”
The other man rolls his eyes dramatically. “Yeah yeah, you’re the best boss.” The guy teases casually. Kageyama shoots him a dark glare before turning back around.
“So have you heard who’s going to be on our case Kuroo?” Kageyama asks. The man, now known as Kuroo, tilts his head in confusion.
“You mean like investigating?” Kuroo questions, confused. Kageyama smacks the back of his head. “OW! What was that for?!” Kuroo pitifully holds his head, but not stirring a reaction out of Kageyama.
The raven-haired deliberately ignores him and exits the abandoned facility. Kuroo scrambles after him, trying to match his stride.
“I did hear about it though,” Kuroo finally answers. Kageyama raises an eyebrow, giving him the motion to speak.
“Apparently the Karasuno station is on it. You know, the one that never has a crime they can’t solve? Well, the only reason they have that reputation is because of Hinata Shouyou. He’s still young, but he’s basically carrying the entire department.”
“Hinata Shouyou huh? Anyone else worth mentioning?” Kageyama asks, grabbing a cigarette and lighting it aflame.
“Well, there’s two others who are working on the case, but not at the same level as Shouyou. Kozume Kenma and Yamaguchi Tadashi. Their work is good, but like I already said, not at the same level as Shouyou’s.”
Kageyama ponders for a moment, before stubbing out his cigarette on the ground.
“Anything worth worrying over?”
“Well, we’ll see them in action soon,” Kuroo decides with a shrug. With a sigh, Kageyama walks over to his black car, Kuroo hot on his tail. He easily slides into the drivers seat, with Kuroo accompanying him in the passenger seat.
“Call Tsukishima, let him know we’re on our way back.” Kageyama announces. Kuroo nods, grabbing his phone lazily and dialing his number.
“Hello? What’s wrong now,” An irritated voice sounds through the phone. Kuroo chuckles, mischief already in his mind.
“Oh Tsukki~ Didn’t you miss us~” Kuroo purrs back at him, while a distinctive scowl is heard.
“Fuck off Kuroo, I’m not in the mood for you. You better have had a reason for calling me,” Tsukishima states. A small sigh escapes Kuroo’s lips before finally responding.
“Kageyama wanted to let you know we’re on our way back.”
“Did you get the job done?” Tsukishima adds.
“Yes yes, now stop nagging about getting jobs done, you sound like my mom.”
“Excuse me?” Tsukishima growls, anger lacing his voice.
“You heard me, you sound like an old-“ Kageyama grabs the phone and hangs up decisively. Kuroo pouts.
“You’re no fun Kageyama,” Kuroo sighs, looking out the window.
“I didn’t want to hear your fucking arguing the entire way back,” Kageyama calmly replies. Kuroo mocks him behind his back, but ultimately lets it go.
They finally arrive back at a large mansion, bicker free, and which both call home, alongside their fellow co-conspirators. Kageyama enters first, greeted by a tall blonde man, square glasses catching his eyes in the light, and an expression of disdain.
“It took you all long enough, I could’ve been out of there faster.” The blondie states, scoffing as Kuroo enters behind.
“Awh, is little Tsuki mad he didn’t get to go kill some people?~” Kuroo teases, and ducking as Tsukishima goes to smack the man. Kageyama shakes his head, walking up the marble stairs to his office.
Once arrived, Kageyama sinks into his dark leather chair with a small thud. His eyes catch something on the corner of his desk. Papers and information on the new detectives.
“Hinata Shouyou. 23 years old, and already has a respectable name eh? Yamaguchi Tadashi, also 23, but less noticed. He’s probably only on the case because Hinata is friends with him. Same probably goes for Kozume Kenma, 24 years old.”
Quickly scanning over the file, the raven-haired man leans back, arms behind his head. Sighing, he makes a move for his phone, dialing a number.
“Hello?” A corrupted voice sound through.
“Hey, the jobs finished. Also make sure you finalize those papers. Manipulating the officers is easy, but getting the paperwork to make it seem real is the harder part.”
The voice scoffs through the phone. “I always get the paperwork done, I don’t know why you’re worried.”
“Whatever, just get it done,” Kageyama finishes, ending the call right there. He rubs his temples with both hands, a scowl visible across his face.
“Really seems like the only threat here is that Hinata guy. But he seems too cheerful for this line of work, that bright orange hair and big grin.” Kageyama wonders, stretching his arms. “I’ll keep the other two in note, but right now, Hinata Shouyou is the target here.”
Kageyama swivels over to his laptop, writing a report on the latest incident. Then, he opens a separate file with all the information his men had gathered about the 3 boys.
Kageyama snaps his fingers and a guard comes running, appearing before him so fast it almost seemed like teleportation.
“You needed me sir?” The guard asks cautiously, bowing slightly to show his respect.
“Get more information on Hinata Shouyou. He’s seems to be quite a catch.”
“At once sir,” The guard exclaims, shooting upright and rushing out the door. Kageyama watches the door shut with a click.
“This is gonna be fun…”
