Chapter Text
Morty Smith knew for a very long time that the world had a vendetta against him.
He knew he sounded dramatic, but what else could explain all the shit that he's been through? Even before he met Rick, it was like the universe just had it out for him. Honestly, he could make a whole list about everything wrong with his life and himself.
But he never thought a fucking pregnancy would be on his list.
,” Ha ha, no. This is-this is some fucked up prank from Rick!” If this was three years ago, then Morty wouldn’t have any doubt that his piss had been tampered with. But Rick was different now. Well, he could still be an asshole. At least now, he asked permission before putting some sci-fi thing in him.
,” This-This is real…” Morty didn’t register the sound of the pregnancy test falling on the floor. Didn’t register his bare knees hitting the cold, unforgiving ground. There was only one thing he could register in that moment.
He was pregnant.
He wasn’t even 18 yet and there was something growing inside him.
,” Mom's gonna love this.” Oh he could practically hear what his moms were gonna say. How they were going to lecture him, saying "how could you have forgotten condemns??" As if one of them hadn't done that exact same thing. As if he had any sense of sanity when he was in heat. As if this wasn't all his fault, stupid-
," Morty! I don't care if your jacking of in there, open the damn door already!" Morty was in way too much of a panic to snap back, a panic that only intensified once he realised who was behind the door," Shit, shit, shit! Why, why did it have to be Rick!?" Hiding a pregnancy from Jerry was one of the easiest things in the world, his moms and sister would be a bit harder but he could do it.
But Rick? Yeah, he might as well announce it at full volume. Maybe even throw the pregnancy test in his face while he's at it. Nothing got past that old man.
," Give me a second!" That didn't mean Morty wasn't going to make an attempt. Though he didn't know why he was even trying. He didn't want to... have a baby," I'd be a shitty dad anyway. It would probably be born as much as a psycho as I am." Anyone who said being a psychopath wasn't genetic clearly hadn't done more research," Morty, I will break down this door!" Crap, he knew Rick wasn't bluffing. His bedroom door had almost 4 years worth of attesting to that," Ok Rick, I'm coming! Impatient bastard." Though really, he hadn't thought off Rick as a bastard for a very long time. Thats probably why Rick looked concerned for a brief moment," Took you long-... what are you hiding from me?" God damnit why couldn't Rick just be focused on being pissed off?
But that was just asking too much of the universe.
," I-Its nothing!" Yeah, like that was going to work on someone like Rick," Uhuh, can I see that nothing then?" Oh he was so fucking screwed. Him being pregnant would already anger Rick, but if the scientist found out who got him pregnant.. Morty was angry with Evan, but he still wanted the boy alive.
," Alpha. Alpha can help."
That... actually wasn't a bad idea. The only problem was whether the alpha in question would even want to help. He didn't even bother to stick around after his heat had ended... but Morty didn't have any other option," Going to Evan it is. Please let this be one of the times where Rick minds his fucking business."
," No. It's-Its personal Rick!" Why the fuck did he say that? He could see the curiosity form on Rick's face and now he'd never let up," Personal? M- Morty, you having a per-personal life shrivelled up and died ages ago. Sh-show me the thing." Morty hated how right he was. Even though he wasn't that weak, helpless kid that was scared of the strange man in the lab coat anymore. Just because he was stronger and could take care of himself now, didn't mean his personal life was flourishing.
A donkey had a better social life than him.
Still, Morty refused to move his hands. The scientist could complain all he wanted, but Morty wasn't bugging.
Apparently, Rick was not having that.
," Just-just show me the thing, you little sh-shit!" Morty barely had time to move back as Rick lunged at him," Crap, crap, crap!" For being in his 70s, Rick was ridiculously strong," Thanks, sci-fi implants." Still, Morty wasn't going down without a fight. Which was very hard to do when you could barely use your hands but he was gonna try anyway. Morty raised his leg, aiming for Rick's groin," Just-just let it go, it's not that impor-important anyway!" The kick he delivered did nothing to stop his grandfather, because of course it didn't," Like hell it is! Your stutters all over the place, idiot!" God damnit his stuttering! Sure, speech therapy had done wonders, but he still stuttered when he was nervous or scared," Stupid genetics, why couldn't I of inherited Rick's hair colour or something??" He'd even take his alcoholism, if that was possible," Just-just fucking st-sto-"
*clack*
,"... No. No, I'm still hold-" But Morty wasn't still holding the pregnancy test.
The pregnancy test was on the floor, directly in Rick's view.
Rick, who immediately loosened his grip. Deciding not to pass up this opportunity, Morty began to walk to the door. He didn't even get five steps before he felt Rick's fury and oh he was pissed," Morty, who the fuck, KNOCKED YOU UP!?"
," Mad alpha. Danger." This was one of the very few times Morty agreed with his omega. Logically, he knew Rick wouldn't hurt him anymore. But there was a very pissed of alpha in front of him and he was a vulnerable omega and what was inside of him was even more vulnerable...
," Run."
And so Morty did.
," Morty! Watch where you're go- woah! Dad!?" Usually, Morty would apologise to his mother for almost colliding with her. But he didn't have time for that right now.
Right now, he was desperately trying to escape from a raging alpha.
," MORTY! YOU LITTLE FUCK, COME HERE!" Yep, still pissed," Of course, of course I couldn't have this one fucking thing." Honestly, Morty was less pissed off and more tired. He was tired of being the universe's personal comedy act, he was tired of Rick's emotional whiplash and he was so, so tired of Evan's fucking mixed signals. He swore Evan was like a damn traffic light with how mixed he could be. So many times Morty wanted to grab the other boy by his shoulders and scream," For the love of God, do you want to court me or not!?
," Stupid, annoyingly handsome Evan, with his damn alphaness." But Morty knew Evan wasn't entirely to blame. Letting an alpha near him during his first heat? That was probably the most irresponsible thing Morty had done his whole life. Especially one he... well, Morty still wasn't complete certain of his feelings. But he had let Evan fuck him for a reason.
That reason was why he was currently running like an Olympic sprinter to the garage. If there was one good thing that came out of this, it was that Rick was so blinded by his anger, he forgot all about his 16th birthday present.
Full access to the garage.
Which ok, Morty knew what he was about to do was a dirty trick. But he didn't have any other choice. There was only one way to get to Evan and like hell was Morty going back to get his portal gun," Garage, initiate lockdown mode!" Rick probably wouldn't disable it right away, he'd be to busy yelling at him through the door," MORTY! DISABLE THE LOCKDOWN, NOW!" Yep, having a fit. He should have enough time to find Rick's portal gun," Please, please tell me he doesn't have it with him. Yes!" He had never been so happy to see that gun," Garage! Override lockdown mode! Now!" Crap, Rick had calmed down. Morty tried to stop his hands from shaking as he typed the coordinates for Evan's house before he stopped.
," Nest. Can't leave nest."
Shit, his omega was right. God knows when Rick would stop being pissed and Morty knew his omega would kick up a fuss if he didn't have his nest for more than a day.
," Nest is important."
," Ok, okay. I know, I'll get-"
*slam*
," Morty!"
His hands had never typed so fast.
," Ow! Fuck." Maybe he should off thought more about where in his room he was going to portal himself. But he couldn't focus on that right now.
Right now, he needed to shove as much of his nest in his bag as he could. As well as a change of clothes, his portal gun- damn it, where was his portal gun?!
He heard footsteps," Ok, I need to focus. I'll just take Ricks. Wait, he probably put a tracker on it. Urgh! I don't have time!" That was a risk he was just going to have to take," Got my nest, clothes, money in case I get cravings-wait." Morty froze, staring at his wallet. Why would he care about cravings? Sure, he'd discovered how amazing chocolate with ketchup could taste, but he wasn't going to be pregnant long. He... he wasn't.
," Why not?"
His omega really was an idiot sometimes. He couldn't be a parent! He... he was to unstable!
But who was the one that made him unstable?
Would he have been a good parent if he hadn't met Rick? Could he be a good parent? Even though his own parents had only really started trying 2 years ago? Could he love this baby? His baby?
He already knew the answer.
Morty's bedroom door swung open. He was out of time.
," Morty! Will you just listen to me!?" He noticed how Rick's anger filled scent had lessened. But that wasn't going to change what he was about to do.
He gave Rick what he hoped was a reassuring smile, God knows he felt like crying, and raised the portal gun.
," I'll be back, dad. I promise."
Then he ran and didn't look back.
