Chapter Text
The entire museum was rumbling and several stairways were already collapsing. Police officers were safely exiting the building but some were still trapped. Meanwhile, Sandman is escaping and I’m the only one who can stop him, by blocking out his exits. But if I do that, several police officers could end up severely hurt… or worse. But if I let Sandman escape, he could still cause a rampage across New York later.
In situations like this I ask myself…
What would Spider-Man do?
What would my brother, Percy Jackson, do?
What would Jason Grace do?
By then, I already knew the answer.

I flew off to slow down the collapse on several stairways by shooting webs at them. I order the officers to get downstairs safely. While I’m doing that, I looked for Magnus and spotted him lifting up some debris off of an officer.
“Magnus! I need you to keep an eye out for anyone that’s trapped or wounded! Help them get to safety while I take care of the-”
Suddenly I heard a scream and saw someone about to fall. I jumped out and fired a web to get closer to the officer before he fell. Just as he did, I managed to grab him and threw him to the nearest floor and told him to get to safety. I continued to swing around and find weak points that are about to collapse. I would fire webs at them to slow down the process. Prevent anyone from falling or getting crushed by debris. Magnus would tend to heal any wounded and lift them off of debris as well.
I don’t see Sam anywhere either. Most likely still chasing after Scorpion.
And I spotted Alex on the main floor, disguised as one of the officers. Most likely ordering them to escape the building.
As I climbed up, I managed to reach the top and noticed that several more spots were beginning to collapse. Even the ones I webbed are starting to break. As I looked around, I devised a plan. It’s risky but it may be my only option to prevent any more damage and harm to the officers.
“Gods, I hope this works!” I yelled as I launched myself downwards as I spun around and fired webs in every direction. I aim for the areas most likely to collapse, even the areas that were already webbed. I kept going until I’m nearing the ground, which then I would fire a web straight upwards to slow down my fall.
I began to panic as I noticed the ground coming closer than anticipated. But then, I felt the web hit the ceiling and I managed to slow just before I reached the main floor. I looked up and saw a huge line of webs connecting to each other as they held the broken stairways together and prevented them from falling.
“Huh… Thank the gods. It actually works. I-I mean, I totally knew that would work,” I said abruptly. I swung up to look for anyone in need of assistance as well as enforce the webs to prevent them from breaking or snapping.
Later, the Ambulance and firefighters arrived to tend to the wounded and look for anyone else that may need assistance. Officer Davis was in charge of monitoring the situation as well as explanation. He was talking to his boss to explain what happened. While the situation did escalate, he did follow protocol and procedure as followed. He just wasn’t expecting Scorpion to have Sandman hired as extra muscle.
After he talked to his officer, Davis sighs. I swung by next to him.
“Well, things got crazy in there,” I said.
Davis scoffed, “Tell me about it. I wasn’t expecting Scorpion to have Marko with him. It’s a good thing you were there to minimize the casualty.”
He’s not wrong. If I wasn’t there, many of the officers could’ve been hurt or killed.
“Speaking of, why did Miguel have an actual scorpion tail?!”
“So… you saw it then?”
“Saw it?! How could I not?!”
“It's going to be hard to explain. But I promise to tell you in time. Just not yet.”
Davis scoffed, “Figured. I’m guessing it’s what got George killed, wasn’t it?”
I patted his back, “Something like that. But I guess that’s why you were here, huh? Still trying to find his killer?”
Davis didn’t answer but I knew. Him and Sam’s dad were partners and good friends. So about a year when I got my powers, Sam was found by a harpy that was called The Vulture. She wanted Sam and spotted me. She attacked us but Percy and George saved us and took us to Camp. However, Sam’s dad died saving Sam from death.
When I heard that Officer Davis was investigating his death, I told him what happened. Well, not everything but just enough for a mortal to understand. But, that wasn’t stopping him from finding the Vulture.
“We’ll catch Vulture. I promise,” I said.
“Yeah, well, we still need to get Scorpion first. But they’re gone with the wind. Who knows where they went.”
“He was found before, we’ll find him again. Take care, Davis.”

I swung away before Davis could ask any more questions. Especially since he actually saw Sam there too. That was going to raise even more suspicions.
Later, I arrived at the rooftop where I was supposed to meet up with everyone else. Luckily, I saw Magnus, Alex and Sam waiting for me there.
“You’re late,” Alex said.
“Sorry, I had to make sure your exits were covered.” I replied as I took off my mask, I turned to Sam. “Did you get it?”
Sam smirked and popped out her phone, “Yep. Place a tracker on our deadly drug dealer, Scorpion. Wherever he’s going, we’ll follow.”
Sam tosses her phone to Magnus and Alex.
“Awesome. With that, you can hand it over to Artemis and she and her hunters can go after him.”
“Oh, we should also contact the Orcs down in Staten Island!” Sam suggested.
I recall the time when Sam and Leo met with Orcs down in Staten Island who made their entire culture based upon the Klingons from Star Trek. They call themselves the Clan of Martok. Honestly, I’m surprised they didn’t call themselves the Clan of Worf.
“I don’t know, Sam. I don't think Artemis and her hunters would enjoy working with Orcs.”
“I know, but trust me, I fought with them and they had their share of conflict with Scorpion. We can trust them. They may be orcs but they value honor more than anything else.”
Artemis and her hunters tend to be hostile against males and non-humans sometimes. But, Scorpion is really infamous across several realms. So I guess it wouldn’t hurt to get some help too.
“We’ll go too,” Magnus said. “Scorpion’s product hurt some of my friends too and I want to get some payback.”
“Perfect! You can be the mediator between the two!” Sam said. She took something out of her pocket. “Here, catch!” She tossed a knife over to Magnus. “That’s a tribal knife from the Orcs. It’s a sign of trust and bond between tribes. Show them that and they’ll know you are ‘Sam jup.’”
“What?” Magnus said.
“It’s Klingon. The Orcs tend to speak Klingon.”
“Oh… I see.”
Sam snickered, “Don’t worry, they speak English too. They’re just hardcore Klingon fans. I can understand because I’m a Trekkie fan myself.”
That’s Sam for you, our nerdiest daughter of Athena.
I looked at the time on my phone and muttered a curse.
“We gotta go now, it’s late and we need rest. Our flight is tomorrow morning and we do not want to be late!”
That’s right, The Valdez are taking me and Sam to California so that we can meet up with Piper for our trip across Japan. Leo and Calypso will be staying by their vacation home that’s in New Rome and nearby the Jackson’s house.
“Are you sure you guys are going to be okay?” I asked.
“Don’t worry, we can take care of Scorpion. Your friends will also handle things from here in New York. You go enjoy a vacation trip. You've earned it,” Alex replied.
I walked up to them and hugged them both.
“Love you guys, be careful.” I turned to Sam. “I’ll see you tomorrow, okay? Don’t be late.”
Sam scoffed, “I should be telling you that.”
I rolled my eyes, “Whatever, see you in the morning.”
I put my mask back on and swung away back home.

Tonight was a crazy night, but we made some progress. Hopefully when I come back, we’ll finally find and capture Typhon.
But right now… Spider-Girl is going on vacation.
