Chapter Text
As Jeongguk opens his eyes, he is met with a ray of sunshine shining down straight into his eyes. When he musters enough strength to sit up, he notices how cold his bed sheets are as it smooths out against his fingers. He stands up to slip his feet into his slippers, bare feet cold against the unusually stiff carpet. Jeongguk yawns and tugs on a pair of sweatpants, stumbling in his steps.
He opens the drawer to search for his hangover pills, having taken one too many shots last night. He remembers, wearily, how he had ten different people clinging onto him as he bubbled in amusement and as he downed drink after drink.
In the chaos of it all, he keeps having the same flashback. To those days where Seokjin used to always call him at an ungodly hour with the same request and Jeongguk, forever accepting a task he should never have even started in the first place.
He thinks about that night, where Seokjin had reached with so much vulnerability out in the open, asking Jeongguk to stay, hands clutching the sheets, looking so tired, and so, so, beautiful.
Jeongguk thinks about that night, and he thinks about the moment when Seokjin had looked at him for a few seconds, eyes blinking rapidly and filled with a feeling of hope that Jeongguk wished he had never seen in the first place.
So - that night, Jeongguk remembers stepping back and shaking his head, leaving Seokjin’s apartment with the door swinging on it’s hinges, closing softly on it’s own.
