Chapter Text

Sage’s POV:

—————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

I got up early the next morning and biked to the edge of the woods.

Surely Lavender would be there right?

I approached the hole in the guardrail.

I jumped, while I was falling I saw a flash of blue and all of a sudden I was on top of Lavender again.

She shoved me off before realizing who I was.

“Falling on the same person twice, that’s gotta be some kind of record”

“Yeah, I told Athena to tell my mom where I was”

”Who’s Athena?”

”My sister, I live with her, my other sister Sophia and my moms”

”Moms?”

She didn’t sound judgmental, just confused, as if she had never heard of same sex relationships.

”Yeah, my mom Jane and my mama Maria, they’re lesbians”

She still seemed confused but changed the subject. “I live with my mother Rose”

“Another flower?”

She laughed. “Yeah, everyone in my family is named after a flower, even my older sister”

Lavender’s POV:

————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————

When I got home I immediately pulled out my laptop(courtesy of Walmart) and searched “lesbian” on Wikipedia.

Lesbian: A lesbian is a homosexual woman or girl. The word is also used as an adjective for women in relation to their experiences, regardless of their sexual orientation; or as an adjective to describe female homosexuality.

Then I started panicking.

Was that why I didn’t have boy crushes when I was little?

But I didn’t have any crushes.

But I liked Sage.

What about my mother?

I had to tell her.

I walked downstairs.

“Madre? Posso parlarti?”

”Certo Lavi”

I took a deep breath. “Sono lesbica”

”Esci”

”Cosa?”

”Prendi. Fuori”

“Perché?”

“Non avrò un peccatore in casa mia”

No. “Ma mamma ti amo!”

“Beh non posso amare un peccatore. È contro il Signore! Hai dimenicato che siamo Cristiani?”

“Beh forse non sono Cristiani!” I threw my cross necklace on the ground and stepped on it, breaking it.

I ran out the door, grabbing my phone and keys.

I ran through the dark until I saw a girl on a three wheeled bike with a large basket on the back.

It was Sage.

”Sage!” My voice cracked from emotion but I didn’t care.

She pulled the brakes and looked at me.

”Lavender? Are you okay?”

She stood and walked up to me, examining me for injuries.

I couldn’t speak, I started sobbing into her shoulder.

She hugged me,

”You don’t have to tell me what happened. But if you need somewhere to stay you can come home with me. You’ll have to ride in the back though”

And so I rode to Sage’s house in an oversized bike basket.
