Luke’s cooking

(Din’s POV)

Ever since Luke started to live with me and the kid I did all the cooking and most of the cleaning and Luke did the shopping and taking care of the kids education but other than those things we mostly helped each other out with everything. The razor crest began to fill with toys and other things meant for Grogu. At first I complained about Skywalker spoiling him with all those things but eventually I just gave up and let it happen. I like to see the kid happy. I think Luke does too. When Luke took Grogu to train him, he was guilty. He felt bad for separating us and did end up returning Grogu to me. While he was telling me about all the new things the kid learnt he sounded so proud and the kid needed an education so I suggested if he wanted to continue his Jedi training. Luke agreed we talked the terms and decided it was best if Skywalker came with us. I still teach Grogu the way of the Mandalorian and Skywalker teaches him the way of the mandalorian. We hope we can bring the Jedi and Mandalorian to peace.

(Luke’s POV)

I wanted to help out with cooking today and maybe even clean up. Din is always the one doing the chores and I feel like I could do more. I bought all the stuff I think we need for dinner. I even bought some stuff that was grown on Tatooine to remind me of home. Maybe Grogu will like some of the vegetables. When I mentioned cooking to Din he seemed hesitant. I've learnt to notice his emotions better from his body language. And he has a good body. I’ve kinda liked him since we met on Moff Gideon's imperial light cruiser. I don’t think he knows that. He thinks we’re completely platonic. I didn’t want to agree too fast to him suggesting we co-parent Grogu. I wanted it to seem like I cared for Grogu and wanted his education to continue.

(Din’s POV)

Luke went out to the market. I’m kind of happy he volunteered to cook. I had no idea what to make Grogu today. He has a huge appetite for such a small foundling. I’m so glad to have a friend like Skywalker. Not like I’d ever tell him that. Sometimes I do want to be more than friends but I don’t think he wants that. So I keep our relationship purely platonic. We’re just two guys raising a kid. While Luke is out I’m putting Grogu to bed. Just a quick nap before dinner. I usually hum him songs that the Mandalorians taught me when I was a foundling myself. I’m not really a singing person. If he asks me to sing I’ll sing. Not like he can talk anyways. And the songs are in Mando’a so the kid won’t understand it. Luke and I want to bring peace to the Jedi and the mandalorians. I like when Luke calls me Din. But he still calls me Mandalorian or Mando sometimes. I like the way he says my name. It would be kind of funny if I started calling him Jedi. He would be so confused.

(Luke’s POV)

I just came back from the market. Din just left Grogu’s room. I guess he was putting him to bed. I put the bag of vegetables onto the counter and start taking them out. “I bought some vegetables from tatooine. Do you think Grogu will like them?” I say while taking out the last vegetable and turning around to face Din. “The kid will eat anything.” He says sitting down with a grunt. “What’re you doing?” I cross my arms leaning against the counter “I’m watching you cook. There’s no way I’m letting you burn down the kitchen.” He adjusts slightly, crossing his arms. I blush and look away “Didn’t know you were so interested in me Mando.” I start to wash the vegetables. “You better not burn anything.” He adds ignoring what I just said.

(Din’s POV)

This armour really isn’t that comfortable but I already said I’m gonna watch Luke cook so I have to bear it. Usually when Grogu sleeps I take a nap but there is no way I’m letting Luke cook unsupervised. I start to drift off. I hope Luke isn’t noticing. Dank farrik I’m tired. I watch as Luke cuts the vegetables. I don’t think I ever had food from tatooine actually on second thought I probably have. I’ve been there a million times. I start to drift off my head leaning to the side a bit. Taking care of a foundling is a lot of work even with extra help. He looks confused with something so I guess I’ll help out. “Luke, do you need help?” I glance at him. “I’ve got it!” he responds checking all around the kitchen. This is why I cook. I’ve only had Luke’s cooking once it was burnt and tasted horrible. I ate it in private so I lied to him and said it was good. Later on I did tell him the truth. He was pretty disappointed to find out but got over it quickly when I made his favourite food for dinner. I close my eyes for a second just to rest my eyes.

(Luke’s POV)

I finally found the stockpot! I knew I didn’t need Din’s help! I look back and notice he’s sleeping. How can he sleep in that armour? I’ll ask him later but right now I need to focus. I pre-heat the stockpot. I hope I didn’t put the heat up too high. I start to cut the vegetables I remember growing some of these. Sometimes I miss Tatooine. The farm, the two suns, the huge desserts. I should’ve learnt how to cook when I was younger. I wonder if Din learnt to cook when he was young. That would explain his amazing cooking. That would also explain why there’s no cook books around this whole place. I have no idea how to make a stew. What if Grogu doesn’t like it? He’s always eating frogs. Din lets him eat whatever he wants. Sometimes he says “spit it out” but Grogu doesn’t listen to that. Taking care of a foundling is hard. Grogu’s a good kid but he has his moments. Din’s been trying to teach him to talk. He’s said a few words but it’s not too clear. I try to help but Grogu listens to Din more. I finished cutting the last vegetable now what? I’ll check my data pad for some tips. Where did I put it? I walk around the razor crest trying to be quiet. Din is kind of a light sleeper and I don’t want to wake him up. I climb up the ladder to the pilot section of the razor crest. Found it! I pick up my data pad and smell smoke. Oh no.

(Din’s POV)

What is that smell? I look towards the stockpot and see it on fire! Luke is nowhere to be seen. “Skywalker!” I yell getting up from the chair and going towards the fire extinguisher. “Sorry!” He rushes down the ladder holding his data pad. I pick up the extinguisher and point it towards the fire extinguishing it. “Seriously Luke? You said you were gonna cook but you could’ve burned down the whole ship!” I yell pointing towards the burnt stockpot. “I’m sorry Din I was just going to get my data pad. I didn't know this would happen!” Luke responds, putting his data pad on the counter. I sigh feeling bad for yelling “Just next time be more careful.” I see Grogu waddle out of his room. I must've woken him up with my yelling. Luke goes to pick him up “I can put him back to sleep if you want?” Luke clearly feels guilty for burning the stockpot. “It's fine. Let's just get some outside food.” I pat Grogus' head.
As we walk towards the food place I’m kinda glad Luke didn’t succeed in making that stew. It would’ve tasted horrible. Grogu wouldn't have liked it either.
