your not exactly sure what Nikolai has planned but your happy to be outside your also glad he isn't mentioning you avoiding the pack and Vinny and Chase, or are Vinny and Chase apart of the pack now? your not sure why but you feel a bit of jealousy bubbling in your stomach which is wrong definitely wrong what right do you have to feel jealous about this its all your fault anyway Vinny is a werewolf because of you and now your jealous of him hanging out with a pack you barely tolarated
you feel the car stop snapping you out of your thoughts to look over at Nikolai "hey kid are you alright?" god his face hurts you, he seems so caring so worried about you, you have no idea what to do about it, no ones ever looked at you like this it isn't that icy stare from past foster parents and it isn't Johnny's look of crazed look of possession its soft and warm and too much for you
"im alright, let's go" you unclip your belt grabbing your drink from the cupholder and stepping out it takes a moment before you hear the thump of Nikolai closing his door as he climes out walking around to his side you follow him thru the parking lot finally looking up to see where you are it's the mall why the hell are you here? you haven't known Nikolai long but your getting the idea he's not the big socialising guy but then again you haven't been here long enough to learn his schedule maybe he gets his groceries here or he likes people watching that wouldn't be too far fetched you had a foster mother once who liked to watch people
it's a Saturday so the mall's packed, families shopping, teenagers hanging out, you stare a little too long at a certain boy it's just him and he's a little more on the gothy side he reminds you of Vinny, should you talk to him? or is it too soon for new friends? would this make you some kind of friendship whore? why does it matter you can make new friends whenever you want, you just don't want to
you follow Nikolai into a little cafe attatched to the mall taking a seat with him you just order a sandwich not that hungry as you wait for it to come you keep thinking about Nikolai he's a loner and comfortable with it he's not exactly maternal yea he's good with you but he still doesn't seem like the type of man who spends his days dreaming of having a family
"why did you adopt me?"
you did not mean to say that aloud, Nikolai freezes you freeze and the poor waitress looks so startled and confused looking between the two of you before backing up enough to leave, Nikolai clears his throat and straightens up in his seat but you rush to speak first "you don't have to answer that!, i was just thinking"
"well kid, i spent a long time in the military i guess it's weird being home, no noise nothing i spent my youth sleeping in bunks listening to others snore, every waking moment something was happening drills or fights, i suppose i thought a child around would bring some noise and then i learned what you are and figured it'd be even better more energy" he seems nervous you feel bad pulling that on him so suddenly your both quiet now not sure what to say eventually the waitress is back putting your sandwich down and Nikolai's coffee then walking off again
"god we traumatised that poor waitress" you lough resting your head in your hands
"who is we, that was all you kid" he loughs and you pretend to grimace at him inside your happy the tension is gone
"so what are we doing today, i don't take you for the mall enjoying type" you straighten up to face him your not sure why you always put your head in your hands it always seems more comfortable then it actually is
"im not, thought i should get you out that house, and i don't think your ready for the woods so soon"
"im kind of dreading seeing them again, especially Vinny it was an accident but his head must be all messed up" you look over at Nicolai but he seems invested in what your saying "i've never actually been around a newly turned werewolf but i've heard rumours"
"you where going to bite me," your shocked looking up at him "last night you tried to bite me, why"
his voice is stern and you feel a little ashamed at your actions "i was thinking about you dieing, i wanted to keep you forever" your about to cry and you sniffle trying to not get snotty "i just i've never had a foster as nice as you"
Nikolai sighs "listen i was thinking about it too, i'm not exactly against being a werewolf but its a bit soon, i haven't even officaly adopted you, and i don't think you have it in you, i mean look at you your a fucking mess from turning Vinny"
"that's different!" You growl forcing yourself to shut up that growl sounded a little too realistic and you don't want to set off anymore red flags after the waitress incident
"listen kid I get your angry, I read your file, you never wanted to be a werewolf you like to roleplay as human you made human friends now you fucked up and turned one of them so your going distant, your werewolf racist, werewolfism"
"that's not even a thing!, your just making shit up to sound smart!" It's weird usually it doesn't take this long for you to fight with your foster
"maybe I am ok but you still are you don't like being a werewolf you feel guilty you forced that on Vinny but you don't actually know how he feels the little emo fuck probably loves it" fuck, he has a point Vinny is weird he does probably like it but your still not going to give up just like that and by the looks of it Nikolai can tell you aren't giving up
"ok I'm sorry kid"
"it's alright" it's really not but there's nothing you can do about it and your not about to fight him in the diner
"no not about that, about this" your a bit confused until he puts two twenty dollar notes on the table and grabs your arm dragging you put the diner and out the mall
"Hey what the fuck are you doing!" He gets you out to the parking lot and it's ridiculously easy for him to lift you up into his car
"I'm taking you to the prices place we've been talking and we're going to stay with them for a week" you don't get the chance to argue back as he closes your door and walks around to his side getting in "this is non negotiable, we are going, you are talking to those boys and we're all going to hang out and have fun"
You bring your knees up to your chin thinking about it for a moment, wait, "when did you get prices number?"
