Chapter Text
Dazai couldn’t answer. He didn’t know why, but something felt off. And it wasn’t having an alive Chuuya with him, but something else. “So Osamu? What the fuck did you do?” The ginger spoke again. “I… Jumped off a building…” He finally managed to say and it made Chuuya freeze on the spot. His eyes wide, and his smile cracking. “...” He couldn’t even speak. He took Dazai’s wrist and squeezed it. “Why…? Why did you..-”
“I… Don’t want to talk about it right now, slug…” Is all the brunette could say. He couldn’t say anything about his Chuuya’s death, he doesn’t know if this one is an illusion or a clone or whatever this Chuuya is. But he needs him right now. He needs any Chuuya he can get.
“...Whatever. I’m tired of saving your sorry ass, so stop killing yourself all the damn time-” he said before continuing this time more quietly and firmly. “-It’s MY job. You won’t die if not by my hands, not again...” Dazai could barely make out what he was saying. His ears were still ringing a bit from his earlier fall. All he could say was “Alright…” He won’t do anything, not for now. Not when Chuuya?? seemed so desperate. But now he was sure of one thing, this wasn’t an illusion. If it was, he wouldn’t be panicked by the words ‘jumped off a building’.
Suddenly, the doors opened, and a man, no, a mafia member, stepped in saying “Boss-” He stopped mid-way when he saw Chuuya?? next to DAZAI. The man was a bit frightened coming in, but he froze when he saw the brown haired man. “What the fuck do you want? I’m busy so make it quick.” The ginger said coldly, as if he had no emotions, he looked at the man, just one look from Chuuya?? and the man looked terrified.
“U-uh… Well, l-lady Ozaki was looking for you…” The man answered. “Tell her that I’ll visit her office later.” Was all the shorter male said before he kicked the man out. “Sorry about that mackerel.” He said turning back to Dazai. “Don’t worry, your new life will be perfect. For you, for me, and for us.” New life??? That’s a new one. But the brunette had no energy to question it. “You must be tired, huh? How about you go to sleep, i promise you won’t be in the hospital when you wake up. After all, we will have lots to do when you do.” And soon enough, sleep took over Dazai.
After what seemed like hours, Dazai finally woke up, and just like Chuuya?? promised he wasn’t in the hospital. But what seemed to be an apartment, Chuuya??’s apartment. And how did he guess it? Well, where else would Chuuya?? take him. What else would be a framed picture of Chuuya?? and… Dazai? He didn’t look like himself though. Which confirmed it. This *is* Chuuya, but from a different universe.
He took a look around the room. The walls were wine coloured. There were frames full of photos with Chuuya and Dazai on the wardrobe shelves or the nightstands, but there was also a frame of Dazai with Atsushi, he looked way colder. There were many paintings on the walls, and a big bookshelf. The rug was black and looked very vintage. There were some clothes outside the wardrobe, like ones on the chair next to the desk. And then, on the nightstand there was a ring, one gold wedding ring.
He slowly stood up, his legs hurting so much. It pained him to walk, yet he still pushed through the door. The house was spotless. So unlike the bedroom. This house looked un-lived in. He managed to get into the kitchen. There was food on the table, crab, with rice and a salad. There was a note next to the food. “When you wake up, I’m probably still at work. So eat Osamu. Or I’ll show the food in your mouth by force when I come back.”
Dazai stared at the note blankly, then he looked back at the food. It looked still somewhat warm, which means that he wasn’t out for *too* long. But still long enough for Chuuya to cook, write a note, and then for it to cool off a bit. He sighed and sat down. His dark eyes lighted up for a moment, only for a moment. He hadn’t eaten crab this good for a while.
While he was eating, he felt arms carve up around him from behind. Chuuya came back. “I’m glad you ate something, you bastard. I feared I would have to force you to.” He said quietly. Taking off his hat and putting it on the table. “We have lots of work to do, you know?” he said while sitting down next to Dazai, putting his chin on his hand. “You mentioned that before. What's that about?” The brunette questioned. “Well-... You hit your head hard, so we will make you smarter. *better*” He whispered the last word, his eyes never leaving Dazai. “But finish eating first.”
