Chapter Text
For the next week Jude avoided Sharpness like the plague. If he saw the blonde coming to him from a distance he would avoid him. He stopped talking to Sharp or helping him and it seemed like people started to notice.
“Jude I haven't heard you talking about Sharp in a while, did you two get in a fight?” Parker commented one day as he helped fix yet another trap accident.
“Umm something like that”
Parker paused what he was doing and turned to fully face Jude. He tilted his head, studying Jude's face with an intensity that made the rabbit nervous.
“Umm Parker? Is something wrong?”
“No” he said simply turning back to his work “keep it that way”
“Huh?”
But Parker didn't elaborate, he simply continued working ignoring Jude entirely. He was left to think about Parker's words, keep it that way? Keep what what way? Well he obviously knew, it was about Sharpness it had to be. The problem was he didn't want to keep things this way, he missed the thrill of not knowing what he'd get pulled into at any given moment. He missed the quiet days when they would sit and talk for hours. He missed sneaking off at night to go see him. He missed those emerald eyes that seemed to shine brighter whenever Jude passed by. He missed Sharpness.
At this point Jude was in bed now, all of the one sided pining had gotten him through the day. He was doomed and he knew it. Sharp didn't care for him, loved him, in his eyes Jude was just a tool to be used. A fact that was pointed out to him many times.
Jude sighed and turned over in bed, it was past two in the morning and yet he couldn't sleep. An uneasy feeling had taken over his body and no matter how much he wanted to close his eyes and pass out, he couldn't. He didn't know where this sensation had come from, it had appeared in his house about a week ago and had never left. At first Jude had chalked it up to unease towards Sharpness and his mess but now it was going too far.
Jude slowly got out of bed and made his way out of his bedroom to investigate. This couldn't all be just a coincidence, something was causing it and he was getting to the bottom of it tonight. His brain knew something his eyes couldn't see and he wasn't just going to wait for it to reveal itself to him before he finally took action. He made his way slowly around his base, checking every single spot he could think of, but found nothing wrong.
“What the hell could it be?” Jude murmured in frustration, grabbing his ears and pulling them till they rang painfully. He slid down onto the floor in despair, wondering what could have gone wrong. Then he got it, the last spot he could check that he hadn't before. The basement. He hated that place, the air was damp and the ground was moist and was infested with rats. But the basement had never bothered him before so why now? It must have gotten so much worse and he had better fix it or who knows what would happen.
Jude got up from the floor and made his way towards his basement, with every step he took the feeling of unease grew stronger and stronger until it was almost unbearable. Standing above the trap door that separated him from the truth he hesitated for a second. He had a bad feeling about this, but he couldn't just chicken out. He took a deep breath and climbed down the ladder. He landed with a small splash and looked around. Just like he expected, the place was crawling with rats making his skin tingle but he pushed on. He made his way around in the water, checking every corner for something unusual and found none. Sure the whole place was covered in mold and rats but that's how it's always been. Jude let out a sigh of defeat and turned to head back up. He was pissed, covered in water and who knows what all for nothing and now he was even more awake than ever before.
As he placed his foot on the first rung ready to climb up something caught the corner of his eye. The hybrid paused and carefully made his way over to the object and-
“Wtf…”
