“Now I’ll draw! I start by summoning Elemental HERO Sparkman to the field. I equip him with Spark Blaster and switch your monster to attack mode!”
The monster was flipped to reveal Spirit of the Harp in defense mode. Seeing this, Tori reveals two sets.
“I activate Spirit Barrier. As long as I control monsters, I can’t take battle damage. Next, I use the trap Relieve Monster to return my monster to the hand and summon Aria the Melodious Diva in defense. As long as she was special summoned and is on the field, my Melodious monsters can’t be targeted by effects or destroyed by battle! Try getting around this!” Tori confidently proclaimed. My facedown is Dimension Guardian, so if he tries to destroy my monster by effects, it’ll be safe.
“Oh, I will. I’ll start by activating Monster Recovery (anime effect) to shuffle Elemental HERO Sparkman and all cards in my hand into the deck and draw five. I’ll follow that up by activating Graceful Charity to draw three and discard two. Next, I activate Foolish Burial. I use the card Necro Sacrifice (anime card) which summons to your field the monsters Storm Caller and Elemental HERO Burstinatrix which I discarded with Graceful Charity, but also lets me reduce the tributes for a tribute summon by 2.”
“What’s the point of that you already used up your normal summon?” Tori asked with her head tilted.
“I use Double Summon, so I can normal summon Elemental HERO Bladedge! I use the effect of the monster I discarded with Foolish Burial. The monster was Makyura the Destructor (anime effect) which lets me activate traps from my hand this turn. I activate Edge Hammer by tributing Bladedge. It destroys the Storm Caller I gave you and deals damage equal to its original atk?”
“Ehhh?! That’s why you gave it to me!”
“It doesn’t end there. Storm Caller’s effect activates when it’s destroyed by an opponent’s effect.”
“And since it’s on my field, you’re the opponent…” Tori says piecing it together.
“Yep that’s right,” Jaden says with a goofy grin, looking proud of his friend. “When it’s destroyed by an opponent’s effect, the controller takes damage equal to it’s original atk.”
“That’s 2300 atk twice. So…”
“Yep. 4600 damage.That’s game.” Jaden does his signature pose.
Tori 4000->0000
“Hmmph. Still can’t beat you.” Tori puffed in fake anger
“Hmm will a few snacks cheer you up?” Jaden asks playing along
She jumps for joy internally, but hides it saying, “fine.”
