The Trip

Chapter 11: The Last Day

Chapter Text

The trip was almost over.

Izuku stood outside the hotel with his suitcase beside him, looking at the building one last time.

“I can’t believe it’s already over.”

Ochaco sighed.

“Me neither.”

Shoto looked at the road.

“It went by quickly.”

Izuku nodded.

“Too quickly.”

Bakugo stood a few feet away, arms crossed.

“You’re acting like we’re never leaving the hotel again.”

Izuku smiled.

“I know. But it was fun.”

Ochaco nodded.

“Definitely.”

Shoto looked at Bakugo.

“Did you enjoy the trip?”

Bakugo stared at him.

“…It was fine.”

Ochaco laughed.

“That’s Bakugo-speak for yes.”

“Shut up.”

Izuku smiled.

“I think Kacchan had fun.”

Bakugo looked at him.

“I never said that.”

“You didn’t have to.”

Bakugo’s face reddened slightly.

“Whatever.”

The four of them started walking toward the bus.

Izuku glanced around.

“Where’s everyone else?”

“They’re already on the bus,” Ochaco said.

Izuku nodded.

“Right.”

They climbed aboard.

Ochaco and Shoto sat together.

Izuku took a seat near the window.

Bakugo sat beside him.

Izuku looked over.

“Kacchan.”

“What?”

“You’re sitting here?”

“It’s a seat.”

“Okay.”

Izuku smiled and looked out the window.

The bus slowly began moving.

For a while, neither of them spoke.

Then Izuku smiled.

“I had a really good time.”

Bakugo glanced at him.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

Izuku looked down at his hands.

“I was worried the trip would be awkward.”

“It wasn’t.”

Izuku looked at him.

Bakugo shrugged.

“You’re not that annoying.”

Izuku laughed.

“Wow. High praise.”

“Don’t get used to it.”

“I won’t.”

A comfortable silence settled between them.

Across the aisle, Ochaco smiled when she noticed.

Shoto noticed too.

He looked at Ochaco.

“They seem happier.”

Ochaco nodded.

“They do.”

Shoto looked back toward the front.

“Good.”

Izuku leaned against the window.

“We should do something like this again.”

Bakugo looked at him.

“Maybe.”

Izuku smiled.

“I’ll take that as a yes.”

Bakugo rolled his eyes.

“Whatever.”

The bus continued down the road.

The trip was over.

But for the four of them, it felt like something had changed.

Maybe it was the memories.

Maybe it was the time they had spent together.

Or maybe it was simply the fact that, for once, they had gotten to see each other outside the chaos of school.

Izuku smiled as he watched the scenery disappear behind them.

He’d definitely remember this trip.

And judging by the small smile on Bakugo’s face—

So would he.

Notes:

And that’s a wrap on The Trip! 🎉

Thank you so much for reading this little adventure all the way to the end! I had a lot of fun writing the chaos, the random group interactions, and of course the Bakudeku moments. 💚🧡

I hope you enjoyed watching these idiots survive a trip together as much as I did writing them.

Thanks again for reading, and I’ll see you in the next fic! ❤️
