Chapter Text

The next morning, Anthony was the first person to wake up. It was still kinda dark out, but there was just enough light so Anthony could see. He tried to sit up but was unable to, and when he looked down he saw Coy. Who had clung onto Anthony, presumably while he was asleep.

There was a phone quietly buzzing, and Anthony turned to look for it. While he was glancing around to find the phone, he noticed the mess of a living room. Aw, would he have to clean this up with Coy? Anthony softly groaned. God, he was so hungover. He needed to find the phone.

There was a small tune playing. Was that music?

”Hmm…” Anthony hummed and looked down to Coy. He had headphones in, but they weren’t connected to anything. Anthony glanced over to the music again, trying to find it. Was it under the couch? He reached under and found it. Yes, okay. He checked the phone, the song it was playing was ‘Subterranean Homesick Alien’ by Radiohead.

Hey, Anthony liked that song too! Okay, the phone was the same one that was buzzing earlier. He decided to check the notifications, not that he wanted to invade Coy’s privacy. Just to see what was going on. Anthony unlocked it and took a quick swipe through the notifications. Only one really stood out, and it was from his mom.

Mom ‪‪❤︎‬: Hey I know you’re probably asleep, but me and your dad are gonna end up coming home one day early

Mom ‪‪❤︎‬: The flights got cancelled for the day we were originally gonna leave and we don’t wanna leave you an extra day

Mom ‪‪❤︎‬: I’ll see you soon! Love you

Anthony stared at the phone for a couple seconds before blinking. He needed to let Coy know, so they could clean up before his parents got home. He turned to Coy, who was clinging onto him. Aw, like a lost little kitten. Anthony shook his head and gently nudged Coy.

"Coy? Hey?"

"Mmh."

"Hey, bud, uh… Your mom's texting you right now, she said her and your dad are gonna come home a day early. So we might wanna clean up, yeah?"

"Nooo!" Coy whined, burying his face into the hoodie Anthony was wearing.

It was still dark out, so maybe Anthony could let him sleep a little longer. And plus, Anthony was really comfortable and dreaded when he had to stand up. Yeah, he'd let Coy sleep.

Anthony yawned and patted Coy's head, effectively calming him down. "Shh, you can sleep a little, then."

Coy let out a noise that sounded relatively happy. That was good. Anthony sighed and ruffled Coy's hair, burying his face into it afterwards. Ugh, when he got up, he would have to think about last night. And about how Michelle kissed a girl. That's fun. Oh, yeah, and the other kiss, too. That one wasn't as major, though.

After a couple minutes, Anthony finally fell asleep, listening to the soft noise of Coy breathing. It was actually very calming, guess it's just 'cause they were really good friends.

Coy used Anthony's shirt to climb up and lean against the couch. "Anthony?"

"Hmmm? What's wrong, Mich- Coy?" Anthony rubbed his eyes, letting them adjust to the light.

"What time is it?"

Anthony reached for the phone sitting near him. Was that Coy's or his? "Uh… Twelve fourty-five."

"S'it's almost one." Coy stated, moving to stand up.

With the way Anthony was sat, it made it unbelievably difficult to stand up. Plus, Anthony didn't want to stand up. He wasn't willing to move, too.

Anthony simply nodded. "Yeah."

"I need to clean up."

"I'll help you. And now that you're awake, your mom texted you, she said that they're coming back a day early." Anthony passed Coy's phone to him and yawned.

"Aw, are you serious?"

"Yeah, sorry."

"I… I don't want them to come home! I just, well, ugh." Coy dropped his face into his hands, shaking his head. "I just want the calmness of them not being here."

"Coy, you're home alone after school anyway."

"Not after practice, and still! It's the… It's the peace of mind it gives me knowing my parents aren't gonna be home for a while."

"Mm. You can come to mine, y'know?"

"Yeah, but… I like having you at my house because--" Coy's voice faltered and he felt tears roll down his face. He was crying? Aw man. It wasn't that serious, even if he didn't like it, it wasn't worth crying over. Yeah.

Anthony sat up and pulled Coy closer. "Hey, don't cry. You're okay, shh…" Anthony wiped Coy's tears. Or at least tried to. Coy refused to cry in front of most people, and Anthony was no exception.

Coy tried to stop crying, but the tears kept flowing. "I don't even know why I'm crying! I just really like having you at my house without my mom barging in every two seconds because she's worried that I'll bec--" Coy shut his mouth. Maybe he shouldn't tell Anthony that.

"You'll what?"

"Nothing, nevermind." Coy shook his head, trying to scoot away.

"No, it's okay, just tell me."

"Anthony."

"What's wrong? Tell me."

"Nothing."

"M'kay. You'll tell me if anything is going on, right?"

"Yeah. Leave it be."

"Coy…"

"Well, fine. My mom's worried that if I hang out with you too much, I'll turn gay or something."

"What?"

"Yeah, and it's just specifically you! They'd rather me knock up a girl. Just as long as I'm not gay."

"You're serious."

"Completely." He leaned into Anthony, who was now toying with strands of Coy's hair. "It's so stupid, I dunno."

"Well you're not gay, right?"

"If I was?"

A beat of silence. Not good.

"Are you?"

"No." I don't think so.

"It… It doesn't matter to me."

"I would hope so. We borderline made out last night."

"Mm."

"But yeah, I think that's it."

It was quiet for a while after that. Not comfortable but not necessarily uncomfortable. Just… tense. Like when a kissing scene comes up during family movie night. God, was there no other good comparison? Or maybe when someone brings up an ex that was really bad and you don't know what to say.

Speaking of… "Are you ready to talk to Michelle soon?"

"Ugh. Don't remind me. That's gonna be a headache."

"Yeah. Sorry about that. That actually really sucks."

"It's fine, I saw this girl in the hallway, she's like in three of my classes and…"

Coy tuned out Anthony and moved to start cleaning up. God, cleaning this whole house was gonna be annoying. Especially with Anthony talking his ear off about how many girls he could get or something.

He started with the cups and bottles. That should be easy enough.

"Anthony. Help me and I'll actually listen to you."

"You don't listen to me already?"

"Just help."

Anthony listened as he started talking again, this time about how much it sucked to be hungover. Coy simply sighed, pitying himself. He really needed to stop kissing Anthony. He also needed to talk to Hanbon and Will. He didn't want to lose them as friends, and he was doing the bare minimum right now.

"Coy, you said you would listen!"

"Sorry, I'm tired."

"Me too, maybe we should go back to sleep and then just do this tomorrow."

"You think I'm dumb."
