Chapter Text
Madoka's POV:
It was lunch on Friday, and I hadn't gotten to talk to Homura yet. I stretched out on the rooftop sitting next to Sayaka, closing my eyes as the sun met my face. It was a peaceful quiet as Sayaka doodled sheet music in her notebook. “Hey, sayaka-chan..” I murmured after a moment. She looked up in response. “Hm?” She answered casually. I averted her gaze and said “Homura’s really sweet.. she's very earnest.. She makes me feel.. special, precious. I really like her.” I felt a blush overtake my face, as I spoke quietly. When I glanced back at Sayaka, her face held a slight surprise but she slipped into a smile and laughed, wringing an arm around my neck she said in-between giggles “Madoka!? You're so cute she'll snatch you up! Hahahaha!!” she hugged me tight and my insides felt syrupy as I covered my face with my hands and let out an embarrassed groan. “Sayakaaaa….!!!” I complained, then let out a subsequent huff. She gave me a moment then said, “Are you free on Sunday? I was thinking we could go to the beach all together as a group! You, me, Kyoko, Mami, Homuraaaa~” she winked. I blushed, “Shhhh!..” I quickly interrupted her, before trailing off. “...I'd like to go to the beach though.” soon spotting Kyoko, Mami, and Homura all walking towards us, I saw Kyoko begin “Oohh! The Sunday beach plans? I was just talking to these guys about it!” she said with a toothy grin, flashing her sharp canines. Sayaka’s gaze softly flicked over her features for a moment, before speaking with an enthusiastic tone, “So are we all able to make it?” Kyoko gave a thumbs up, hand on her hip. I turned my gaze to Homura, and attempted to give her an excited wink, though both of my eyes winked on accident, so it was just a poignant blink. She slipped into a guilty looking smile, covering her mouth trying to muffle her laughter, despite myself I giggled along with her. She sat next to me, and I scooted closer. A pleasant herbal smell wafted by, as I sat near. “Hm? You changed your shampoo?” I noticed, casually taking a strand of her hair close to my nose. “It smells like real lavender.. wasn't it coconut before?”
She gave a slight nod. I suddenly felt embarrassed, I let go of her beautiful charcoal hair, shining as it fell back to her shoulder. Her face turned away, she opened her mouth, as if about to say something, before hesitantly closing it. Lunch continued, and the bell rang. Before leaving, Homura turned to me and said in a tone gentler than a spring breeze, “Seven at your house?” whilst adjusting her glasses. Affection swelled in my chest as I responded, “Mhm!” I held her beautiful gaze for a moment before I quickly walked away to class. Her deep eyes, almost reflecting purple, remained in my mind. I let out the breath I was subconsciously holding in, my heart racing. I felt as if I always stumbled in front of Homura, never saying the right thing.. but it also felt extraordinarily easy to rest by her side.
I absent mindedly brushed my lips, distracted.
Homura’s POV:
As the sun set, its last glimmering rays reached the skyline, turning the world into a golden hue. I gathered my breath as I knocked on a stylish wooden door, at Madoka's house. As I heard rapid footsteps and some crashing sound effects, I was greeted by a familiar and ethereal bright sight. “Homura-chan!!!!” She crashed into me, arms wrapping around me tight. I blinked, and responded “Madoka-chan..!..” laughing, reciprocating her embrace, letting my hands linger for a moment. She let go, and faced me. “Oh my goodness! Is that make up? You look so pretty! Did hitomi help you?” She asked, noticing my face. I hoped she couldn't see my flush under the light layer of concealer. “How'd you know hitomi helped?” I asked, slipping into a bit of an embarrassed smile. “Well Hitomi-chan’s just the best at it, out of the five of us.” She thoughtfully said, her pointer finger resting on her chin. She then snatched my sleepover bag, “Let me help you carry this upstairs!” Before I could stop her. She was, if anything, capable. Stepping into her house, I noted its open architecture. Open glass windows, a thriving garden, modern appliances. As we reached the top of the stairwell she paused a door down onto the right, and stopped. “This is my room! We'll be hanging out here.” opening the door, and motioned for me to enter. I inhaled the scent of powdery floral notes, like how she smelled when we hugged tight. She flopped onto her bed, patting beside her for me to join. Obliging, I did so, trying to desperately ignore my racing pulse. Her hand slipped into mine, and I held it tightly. “Want to watch a movie?.. Oh! And do face masks!?” She grinned, Rose pink hair spilling over her shoulders, golden rippling light dappling over the room, her eyes almost gold, dripping like divine honey. After I managed to actually speak, I said softly, “Can I braid your hair too?..” she lit up somehow further and jumped up. “Mhm! I'll get all the stuff! Want to change into your pj's while I'm gone? Get comfy, okay?” I nodded obediently, and did so after she shut the door. A pair of lilac ruffley bloomers and a matching short night gown were what I had chosen for the night. After a minute, she knocked. “All good?” “Mhm.” She returned with a pink pajama set, with white polka dots. I thought it was fitting.
