Extra Tidbits:
- A vihends child?-> they would have two kids: siwoo would want a lot of kids and dohyeon would want one so they compromised. And vihends would lwk not be a couple with naming capability, so they just smush their friends’ names together and call it a day: Jihyong and Jaeho. The kids actually do not end up being bot laners—all of them become junglers instead (too much seungyong/wangho influence) I might write about the vihends kids one day…im a mpreg enjoyer deep down lol
- I actually think vihends would be a healthy married couple because they went through an insane amount of drama to even get there in the first place lmao
- Siwoo eventually pursues a med degree and becomes a pediatrician or psychologist for the esports field. Dohyeon continues pro play then becomes Hanhwa’s head coach and does translation work on the side. Their kids both dabble in pro play and Jaeho later goes on to be a successful model while Jihyong becomes AL’s jungler
- They reveal their relationship to the public with a blurry photo of their rings on Insta and never elaborate on it again. The 2nd press conference was another joke video reacting to a paparazzi shot; they end up revealing nothing about their marriage.
- Even before they do an official reveal, viewers of Siwoo’s streams would see Dohyeon just walking around in the background and during official matches HLE would have blatant Siwoo cameos in content. When asked, Siwoo and Dohyeon’s only statement would be: “we will neither confirm nor deny these rumors” everytime.
Author’s behind-the-scenes rambles
Fic structure: The original premise of this story was going to be a funny haha hehe one-shot with the press conference… but then I started expanding it to a 5+1 fic…with each chapter jumping to different points in time…with lots of characters…
ANYWAYS, I plotted the story in a fixed-timeline format using a notes app. I made the midpoint 2026, with the press conference in chapter 1, and the endpoint was the vihends wedding. From there, I would fill in the rest of the timeline with the chapters as the fic went along. It’s hard to explain how I came up with the time-hopping bs because I planned it in my head at like 4 AM, but in the end if you reorder parts of chapters it all forms an actual timeline.
Each chapter gives a peek at the vihends history with different pov characters before putting it all together during the last two chapters that were in Siwoo/Dohyeon perspective.

Oh my god, I had to research SO much for this fic it was insane. I swear the writing only like 40% of the job, the rest was all surfing the web to make this fic accurate as possible. I could kiss the lol esports wiki and google search genuinely. This fic had me searching up the most random things like where the 2018 kespa cup finals was being held, how long the korean military service is, what tourist spots are in Berlin, etc. I watched an insane amount of grf, geng, hle, edg, ns content too. However, I am still a pretty new lol esports/ lol rpf fan so pls let me know if I got anything horribly wrong!
I had the most fun learning and writing about all the other people surrounding vihends lol. I might write a tarhends fic in the future like those they were def fucking during grf also Seungyong has great potential to be written as Jihoon’s deadbeat dad.

Character writing:
I am a very novice writers when it comes to character development/arcs, ahhhh! I struggled with this the most. With vihends, I really wanted to hammer in the theme that love is a journey. They start as a young couple that have to face continuous hardship and eventually separate on bad terms. However, they still have lingering feelings for each other and a lot of personal issues! They reunite…but they’re idiots and don’t communicate so they become fwb. Then finally, both realize they can’t be normal about each other and get married!!!! Woohooo!! About fucking time!
This fic is heavily leans toward Siwoo, whoops; I think he’s very interesting to write for. He’s interconnected with so many other players and is legit an older brother/mother to some of them, there’s so much you can write about. For this fic, I wanted to give Siwoo the ‘kid who grew up too fast’ vibe. He carries a lot on his shoulders and is always on the move; so I wanted Siwoo to see Dohyeon as a soft place to land by the end of the fic.
For Dohyeon, I wanted to characterize him to clearly be the younger one—he has moments that show his insecurity, hesitations, and he tries to hide it by thinking only about work during the 2021-2022 period. However his devotion to Siwoo never fades, even if he’s scared of repeating past mistakes, and he makes up for it by being more assertive with his feelings by the end of the fic. I definitely wish I could have weaved in more of Dohyeon’s point of view…maybe if I get the energy I’ll write a spin off….

Overall, even though this fic took forever to write and research, it was a fun project. I’ve never been able to write a completed multi-chapter fic before so I’m glad I did. Vihends is lwk a dead ship in the western fandom so I’m happy that I could contribute. I have so much respect for the cn vihends writers, they’re all troopers and I salute them. Thank you for all your support, kudos, and comments, my dear readers! I’ll continue writing for lol rpf when I have time; I’m a huge multishipper so I have lots of ideas hehehe.
