Chapter Text
“What?”
My confusion grew with every second that went by. First the kiss and now that.
“Can you explain what you mean by that?”
I still asked even though I knew exactly what he meant. He had hurt himself before.
“I… I’ve hurt myself before…”
His gaze wouldn’t meet mine and by the sound of his voice I could tell that he was about to cry.
“Oh Maggie…”
I leaned closer to him, pressing him against my chest, fully embracing him, without caring that I got blood from my injured arm all over the back of his shirt. He looked surprised as I pressed a gentle kiss onto his forehead.
“Don't worry, I’ve got you.”
My grip loosened as Magnus suddenly snapped out of my embrace.
“What-?”
“I'm sorry, I'm so so so sorry. This was supposed to be about you. About your mental health and I was supposed to comfort you and not the other way around. Gosh I'm so stupid.”
“Hey, Magnus, look at me. You do not have to apologize to me for having feelings, do you understand?”
He muffled something that sounded like “Yeah” but it was too unclear to be understood. The wounds on my arms had already started to close up, but as I reached for Maggie's arm some of them reopened slightly, but ignored the stinging pain just as I always did.
“Show me.”
My demand seemed cold and heartless but I was worried sick and I had to make sure that he was safe. Even though I could see the hurt and angst in his eyes, I didn't back down.
“Now.”
He didn't say anything. He just reached for his pant leg to reveal his right ankle. The sight shocked me but I didn’t want him to see how I felt. Burns and small stabs covered his ankle, most of the burns seemed fresh. Only a few hours to days old. some were still watering.
“Oh Maggie, why didn’t you tell me? I could have helped you.”
”I know, but it’s just that… I’m scared. I’m scared that you won’t see me the same anymore.”
”I would never see you in any different way and I would never judge you. And you know that.”
”Of course I know that. But still…”
I understood perfectly what he meant, I didn’t tell him either. So why was I expecting him to tell me?
“Whatever happens, we’re gonna go through it together. No matter what. Do you understand?”
”Yes, I promise. I will never leave you.”
”And I won’t leave you.”
The silence we sat in was comfortable, odd considering what we’ve just talked about, but I guess if you’ve been in a relationship with someone for such a long time things just go that way. The weight of his head pressed comfortably against my shoulder. As we sat there, I noticed that he had fallen asleep. I stood up slowly, carrying him towards my bed. I placed him down carefully, so that I did not wake him from his peaceful slumber. Pulling the covers over the both of us before wrapping my arms around his sleeping figure. After a while I fell asleep as well. And for once I didn’t have any dreams whatsoever.

I woke up freezing. I reached towards Magnus, but to my utter horror, he wasn’t there. Okay. Calm down. Maybe he just got hungry and went to get something to eat. No need to panic. I sat on my bed, waiting for him, but with every passing second, I grew even more nervous. Wh as if he was hurt? What if I scared him off and he left me? No, it can't be, it just can’t. But what if? No, no, no. I got up, pausing for a second, waiting for my vision to return to normal.
Magnus neither was in the kitchen nor the bathroom. He also wasn’t in his room or the rooms of any of their friends. None of them had even seen him. He wouldn’t have gone anywhere without telling anyone? Or did he? I grabbed my cellphone, dialing Annabeth's number with shaking hands. Maybe she knew where he went. After what felt like an eternity she finally picked up.
“Hello? Alex? What’s up?”
“Hi, Do you know where Magnus is? I fell asleep and when I woke up he was gone. None of our friends have seen him. He’s also not in his room.”
The silence on the other end was interrupted by the sound of electronic static and the occasional chirping of birds.
“I’m sorry.”
