As the final exams, ended, they thought, they would be free, but college entrance exams started, now there days are filled with solving practice questions, reading books, revising syllabus.
Day by day, their conversation grew shorter, and without either of them noticing, the distance has grown, they would talk, but very less. Sometimes over text for 5-10 minutes or a small call.
Neither of them realized that the distance between them had already begun to grow.
A day before college entrance exam,
Phuwin is revising for the last time, before he sleeps.
He has been stressed for whole week, and thinking that after tomorrow he would be finally free,the thought excited him so much.
After revising, phuwin got from him study table.
He felt dizzy, but he ignored it thinking, it might be because, he was sitting for so long.
He bathed, changed his clothes, and got ready to sleep.
When he felt sudden wave of dizziness hit him, before he could even think of asking for help. He fell making a thud sound.
His father, who was in living room, came rushing to his room, picked phuwin up.
Immediately he took him to the hospital.
All the way to the hospital, his father keep chanting to phuwin,
"Son, wake up".
Phuwin got admitted in the hospital.
The doctor came to the room,
Doctor - The collapse happened because of the stress. And his current medicine regimen is no longer controlling his symptoms effectively especially under significant stress , that caused the sudden dizziness and collapse.
Father- What should I do? Change his medicines ?
Doctor- For now, i would recommend, getting treatment abroad, cause the medicines there have been advanced, with post medicinal treatment also. It would be safe for him to get the treatment there. I can prepare for the transfer, and ready the papers, if you decide to send him abroad.
Father - Tell me what do I need, I'll prepare everything, I just want my son to be healthy.
Phuwin woke up in the morning feeling pain all over his body.
As he focused his eyes to watch, where he is, and what is happening in his surrounding, he got reminded of the dizziness, and the sudden collapse.
He noticed his father, sitting on a chair beside his hospital bed, looking worn out and older than ever.
Phuwin forced himself to sit up, but the commotion made his father wake up.
Father- Phuwin, son, you okay? Do you feel pain anywhere?
Phuwin - I'm fine dad.
Father- Thank God, you are fine, I was so scared.
His father quietly adds,
"The doctor wants us to consider treatment abroad"
Phuwin stares at him.
"...Abroad?"
"Yes."
"Your condition has become harder to manage.
I don't want to take any more risks."
"What about entrance exam?"
Silence stretched.
Neither of them has to say it.
Phuwin already knows.
He missed it.
"Phuwin I know, luk, you have your friends here, and I would not want you to separate from them. But the treatment is necessary."
"I want you to consider, you have your uncle there, you can live with him, if not, I'll leave my work and come with you".
"But don't take stress na. If you don't want to go, we'll try to do something".
"Now take rest".
"You still cannot eat anything, so just rest, I'm here".
Phuwin closes his eyes, but he cannot sleep not after he knows that he have to leave pond, not after everything.
After 3 days,
Phuwin got discharged from the hospital, he can now eat and drink easily.
Phuwin's father, laid phuwin on the bed,
"Take rest, I'll be here, if you need anything, tell me, okay ?"
Phuwin- "Dad, I'm okay with going to abroad. I can stay at uncle's house."
Father- "Have you thought it through?"
"Yes, dad, I will take care of my health more. You don't worry, I'll be fine, we'll be fine".
"Thank you, son, I'll talk to doctor now and prepare your reports."
His father left the room, letting phuwin sleep, but sleep was nowhere in his eyes.
He was thinking of how to tell pond about this.
Phuwin's pov -
I can't let pond know about my condition, he will try to skip his studies and help me.
I don't want to ruin his life and career because of me.
I don't want to destroy him. I can't.
Knock, knock
Yes, dad !
"Son, I'm going to the hospital to get some paperwork done. I am leaving water and food here. I'll try to be back as soon as possible".
Okay, dad! Don't worry, I'm fine.
Dad came and kissed me on my forehead before closing the door and leaving.
I might leave this week or next week, i should talk to pond.
Author's pov-
Phuwin opened his phone to notice, 12 missed calls from pond, 19 unread messages from pond, 11 unread messages on their friends group.
He opened pond's chat -
All the best.
Ace tomorrow's exam, phu.
Good luck tomorrow ❤️.
How was the exam?
Are you busy?
Why aren't you replying?
Are you resting?
Rest well.
Hope your exam went well.
Phu, it's been 3 days.
Where are you ?
Our friends are asking for you.
Are you okay?
Is everything alright?
Why aren't you replying?
Did something happen?
Did I do something?
Reply soon.
Waiting for you.
Can you come over ?
The reply came almost immediately,
Yes, phu.
Pond reaches Phuwin's house.
He smiles as soon as Phuwin opens the door.
Pond: "You scared me."
"I kept calling you."
"Are you okay now?"
Phuwin nods without meeting his eyes.
He quietly says,
"Let's break up."
Pond takes it as a joke, laughs slightly
"Not funny"
"I'm serious".
Pond glances at phuwin, notices his face for any kind of mischievous, but found nothing.
Pond takes a step closer.
"Tell me what happened."
"We'll figure it out together."
Phuwin looks away.
"There's nothing to figure out."
"Did I do something wrong?"
"No, you didn't."
"I just realised, this relationship is not so important for me as I thought" .
Pond looks at phuwin,
"You're lying".
Phuwin forces himself to continue.
"You'll get into uni".
"You'll meet people better than me."
"You'll forget me."
Pond shakes his head.
"I don't want anyone else."
Phuwin finally looks at him.
Even though he wants to cry and tell him the truth, but he stays cold,
"You will".
"Don't decide that for me".
"I don't love you enough to wait, pond".
"My love is enough to keep us together, I'll love you for both of us".
Phuwin's eyes are full of tears, but he isn't letting them fall,
"I don't want your love pond, please leave me alone".
Pond( with tears in his eyes) - No phu, I love you, please don't leave like this.
Phuwin- But I'm leaving pond, I'm moving on in my life and I want you to move on too.
Pond - One last time, if I leave out of this door, would you stop me?
Phuwin doesn't answer, he just stares ahead, not looking at pond.
Pond has got his answers in the silence, "Okay", he says he leaves through the door.
Leaving phuwin to crumble on the floor, crying hysterically.
"I'm sorry, pond."
"But I don't want to destroy your life for me."
"I'm sorry, I love you pond, I love you so much that I can't see you hurting".

Phuwin went to abroad, the next week.
He is living with his uncle, gotten admission into uni, getting his treatment. His father stayed behind in thailand.
After his breakup with pond, he hasn't contacted anyone from his friend group.
Meanwhile,
Pond , joongdunk and Gemfot they all have gotten into same uni, studying and having fun together.
Some goodbyes are loud. Theirs ended in silence. And sometimes, silence leaves the deepest scars.
