Hawkeye watched as they stripped 787-9 apart.
He wanted to scream, cry, beg that 787-9 was still okay.
But he couldn’t.
They sobbed instead.
They still couldn't believe 787-9 was gone.
“That's the last of ‘er.” The worker said, putting the last usable piece into the truck.
Hawkeye began the walk home, numb and empty.
They looked to the right of them.
Empty space filled what 787-9 would’ve.
They sighed.
“You’ll have to try.”
But how could they?
Love of their life, poof. Just like that.
They made a stupid decision,
Run into oncoming traffic!
Grief blinded them as they ran into the streets.
They didn't think, just stopped in the middle.

Hawkeye got what they wanted.
