BONUS MEGUMI PERSPECTIVE
Megumi was pondering something he saw the day before last. Something he was sure he probably didn't need to see.
Yuji and Nobara were still sleeping. Megumi just couldn't understand how they could sleep in. He finished his toast in the dining hall, and walked out the door. Before he knew what he was doing, his legs took him in the direction of Manager Ijichi's office. He looked inside, and no one was there. Odd for the manager.
"Where...?"
He shook his head and walked to Nanami's office. He noticed a light on. Perfect. He knocked.
"Come in!"
Megumi pushed the door open and saw Nanami was eating breakfast. He walked in front of the desk and saw a long roll of sushi.
"Why is one half of your sushi bigger than the other?"
"I don't know, it just is how I cut it."
Megumi looked again. He realised it was cut in a perfect 7 to 3 ratio.
==
"What can I help you with, Fushiguro?"
The student clearly had something else on his mind other than his professor's breakfast.
Nanami placed his chopsticks down and looked at Fushiguro, folding his hands.
"Um."
It was silent for a moment.
"Sensei, are you dating Manager Ijichi?"
"Ah."
Nanami had a feeling it might be about that.
"I mean... no judgement if you were."
"I know. But you saw the kiss the other day."
Fushiguro nodded, and Nanami decided to tell the truth.
"Okay. Yes I am, but it's only a recent development-"
He sighed before continuing.
"So please don't tell your friends. Out of respect of Ijichi."
Fushiguro let out a short laugh.
"At least you'll be able to keep it from Nobara easier than Yuji and me. Thanks sensei."
Fushiguro was about to leave. Nanami stopped him before he could get both feet out the door.
"Oh, before your hair dries and you style it, just go say hello to Gojo."
==
"'Hime!"
The usually reserved Utahime ran and hugged Ijichi. Ijichi felt the force of the hug and hugged his best friend back. His face twitched at the faint touch of her blue hair. They pulled apart.
"Do you have time for coffee? We don't leave until lunch."
"I don't have classes. Let's go, there's a new Cafe I want you to try."
Ijichi followed her to her car. Although he woke up sore today, he was happy he could catch up.
Utahime Iori had been his best friend since even before they both were discovered to be jujutsu sorcerers. They lived in the same town and she was the same age as Ijichi's sister. When Utahime left, Ijichi was sure he'd never see her again. Then.. he got chosen too. But they went to separate schools.
The two rarely talked anymore, because they were both so busy.
==
"Kento Nanami!"
There it was. The reaction he'd been waiting for all morning. He heard Gojo before he walked- stormed- into his office.
"Hey, Gojo, how are you?"
Nanami struggled to keep the smile off his face.
"How am I? What do you mean I woke up to Megumi holding a cup of hot chocolate to my face?"
Nanami didn't tell Fushiguro to do that...
"Is that not good?"
"It was delicious. But tell me why he came in looking like his father?! His wet hair and outfit made me think I was being served poison on a platter?!"
Nanami couldn't hold it in. He laughed. His plan had worked.
"I guess that was payback for all the other times."
"But those were pranks! This was... this was..."
"A prank, Gojo."
Gojo sighed with defeat as Nanami calmed down.
"Okay. Fine. But this isn't over, Nanami."
"I'm on the edge of my seat, Gojo."
The boredom in Nanami's voice was an added touch. Gojo stared for a moment. Nanami knew his eyes were narrowed under his sunglasses he had opted for today.
"I've got reports to do. You're lucky."
"As if you'll do them."
Gojo left. Nanami sat wondering.
Did he accidentally get himself into a prank war?
==
"So I'm dating..."
Ijichi felt a little nervous, and embarrassed that he was worried. Utahime wouldn't react in a horrible way.
"Tell me more. Do I know them?"
"I would say you do."
Ijichi wondered if he could make her guess.
"Jujutsu sorcerer then?"
"Oh yes."
A smile creeped onto his face as he remembered the past when he watched Nanami fight curses.
"Geto and Gojo are probably out...."
"No one else could handle them. Besides, I am dignified. "
The two laughed and sipped their coffees. Ijichi knew of Utahime's hatred for Gojo. While he understood it, he didn't think he could hate the man. Life would be too quiet without him.
"Hmm... you'll have to tell me.."
Ijichi was about to, then he saw someone he recognised. And that someone recognised him.
"Ijichi! I didn't know we were dating!"
==
"Nanami! We need your help!"
Nanami turned at the sound of the voice. Itadori and Kugisaki were holding something. And a knife. He sighed and walked over. After quickly assessing they had no visible injuries, he spoke.
"What do you need?"
"We need help cutting this thing in half."
Nanami looked. It looked like a normal log cake. After his interaction with Gojo that morning, he had to admit he was a tad worried.
"Did Gojo put you up to this?"
"What? No, we just need it cut in half."
"Why can't you do it?"
"Yuji's hurt his hand from holding his pencil and I've just done my nails."
What? Yuji's-
Nanami sighed, knowing he wouldn't get a better answer. He grabbed the knife and cut the cake, not really sure why. He didn't put much effort into cutting it, but he was sure it was in half.
"Come on, Nobara, we have to find Megumi!"
The two ran off, leaving Nanami confused. And holding the knife still.
==
"Tsukumo?"
Ijichi was not expecting to see her today. Utahime's voice sounded confused, and did Ijichi detect a hint of hurt?
"You're dating-?"
Ijichi shook his head and held his hands up. Yuki Tsukumo sat in their booth, across from Ijichi. The two women looked at him for an explanation.
"Okay, listen. Todo asked me last night about my type-"
"As hes wont to do..."
"Yes, and I said the things, blonde, stern, sweet to me.. the usual things."
Ijichi stopped and sipped his drink. The women sat, stunned. The two looked at each other.
"Well, I can see why Todo would think its me. But I.. I'm assuming it's not me?"
Ijichi shook his head.
"Sorry, Yuki. You're not exactly... how should I say this? Uh... you're not manly-"
Ijichi felt his face grow hot and he looked down at the table.
"Manly? What's that supposed to mean?"
Ijichi felt like he couldn't speak. He pulled out his phone, and showed it to them. Gojo had changed it to a random picture of Nanami when he was messing with the phone.
He didn't know he chose one of Ijichi's partner...
==
Nanami couldn't focus on his paperwork. People kept coming into his office or stop him in the hallway. Always asking to cut or rip something in half. Frankly it was quite annoying.
"Hey, Nanami!"
Gojo walked into the other's office, happy this time.
"What is it Gojo?"
"Can you draw a line anywhere on this bit of paper?"
Nanami groaned in frustration. It was Gojo all along.
"Did you tell everyone to keep asking me that? The amount of things I've had to fold and rip and cut today has been annoying me!"
Gojo laughed and flopped onto the couch. Nanami had given up trying to get him out. Or focus on his report. He opened a silent card game on his computer.
"I mean... it wasn't me, but now that I know it is annoying, I will claim it as my own idea."
"Why?"
Nanami saw Gojo shrug awkwardly, his back on the leather. He shook his head and went back to his game. There was no way he'd get an answer today.
==
"Oh, I understand now. I'm not..."
Tsukumo shrugged and the women handed the phone back to Ijichi.
"Since when?!"
"About a month..."
Ijichi waited for the inevitable bad things. Would they come? He sipped his now cold drink, draining the cup. He silently wished he had a full one to keep his hands busy.
"Huh. To be honest I never thought Nanami would get his head out of work to think about dating."
"Or you for that matter..."
Ijichi sighed. He looked at his watch, not time to go yet.
"Are you two going to at least buy me another drink before you keep teasing me?"
The women laughed and Tsukumo waved the waiter over. She ordered three drinks and paid with her card.
"There. Now they're ordered. Keep telling us about your dream man, Ijichi."
