Chapter Text
Bella looked at the ceiling, thinking about today.
She wanted it to be just a movie night, so she and Rev could enjoy something they never could. Well, watching a movie with friends. She didn’t expect it to become a mess in which she and others watched an alternative version of themselves, especially when the first one had revealed so much.
First, it revealed her past, or at least part of it, for everyone to see. That felt… uncomfortable for her. The only one she told was Rev, and even then he focused on what she was trying to do. To try to get those poltergeists to be put to rest. And she didn’t do it with force, but she wanted it by pleading, controlled by her guilt. Even though those who remained were ex-dates who had tricked her, the most popular girl made sure everyone else treated Bella well so the plan would work. And the teacher, who ignored her bullying.
Another thing that was revealed was her and Rev’s feelings for each other. But from what she got… It is not much of a surprise for anyone.
But then… the reveal of what Viviana Kincaid is. And it explained so much. She understood that Yog Sothot wanted to destroy her, and from what Lovecraft explained to her, she and he worked to trap his kind in the Void. It really explained so much. But then…
‘Rev…’ Bella’s face scrunched as she recognised what Rev was trying to do the previous semester. All those accidents, all of them centred around him, were him trying to die. To find a way to permanently die. And now that she thinks about it, when he pulled the situation with Hellhound and the zombie apocalypse. He wanted her to-
“Ugh…” She groaned as she sat up, holding her head.
“What are you groaning about, Witch?” Hearing the voice, Bella looked towards Nerrisa, who was brushing her hair. She was looking at Bella in her mirror’s reflection, an annoyed look on her face.
Bella closed her eyes, thinking for a moment, before getting up, putting on her slippers and walking up to her wardrobe, opening it immediately.
Nerrisa raised an eyebrow at that, putting her brush down to turn and look at Bella, who was putting on a jacket.
“Witch? What are you doing? There is a curfew in an hour.” Nerrisa looked at Bella with a confused look, knowing how by-the-book the Witch is. So seeing her doing something uncharacteristic is confusing.
“Need a breather. I will come back. Not that you would care.” Nerrisa’s eyes widened at the bite in what Bella had said.
“Hey! If Yaga finds out you are gone, I will be in trouble!” Hearing that, Bella looked at Nerrisa with a raised eyebrow.
“That doesn’t seem to be a problem when you do this.” At that rebuttal, Nerrisa sputtered, only able to watch as Bella opened the door to their dorm. She realised she only had one chance to regain the initiative.
“So where are you going? To meet up with your boyfriend?~” Nerrisa grinned when she saw Bella stop. Bella then turned to look at Siren.
“Sure, you can say that. I will be on time.” She replied before closing the door behind her, leaving Nerrisa alone, staring in bewilderment.
“...What the heck happened during the day?”
“Let’s hope he is there. I can’t believe I said it!” Bella said with a blush on her face as she walked through the hallways of the Academy, going towards the roof section of the Academy. Towards a specific balcony.
It didn’t stop the embarrassment she felt about what she'd said to Nerrisa. Honestly, her being snappy towards her was… not a surprise.
“...I am around Rev too much.” She muttered as she turned around the corner. Before slamming into someone, making her fall on her butt.
“Ow!” “Ah!” Both cried out, with Bella groaning from the impact. Looking up, she was greeted by the sight of Rev, wearing a black T-shirt with a skull emblem on the chest, grey pants, white socks, and black slippers.
“...Witch? What are you doing?” Rev looked at Bella with a raised eyebrow before looking at what she was wearing. She was wearing a lilac T-shirt with a moon-and-star emblem on the chest, which he could see through her open jacket, and black pants with a yellow star pattern. He extended his hand to help her stand up.
“I wanted a breather… and to talk to you,” Bella explained as she dusted herself off, with Rev tilting his head for a moment.
“Really?” Bella gave him a raised eyebrow at his response.
“What about you?” She crossed her arms, giving him an unimpressed look as he shut his mouth for a moment, thinking about what to do, before sighing in annoyance.
“I, too, needed a breather. Today was… so bloody much.” He spoke angrily, and Bella couldn’t blame him.
“Yeah… same.” They both stood there, awkwardly for a moment.
“So you want to take a breather or not?” Rev asked Bella, who nodded, and they both walked towards the balcony.
Entering it, they were hit by the night wind, making Bella stop for a moment, but Rev continued on, walking up to the railing… and leaning on it. Bella joined him soon after.
Both were there in silence, as the wind blew past them.
‘Well… this is becoming awkward.’ Rev thought to himself. He came here to take a breather and have peace and quiet to think about everything that happened today. Thinking about his alternative self, who was more open about his emotions, especially about his attraction towards Bella. Something that Rev himself has. He knew he had it, but… everything makes it unlikely to be picked up. Especially given the Poetry Club and Nayrla’s plan towards Kincaid. And right now, he doesn’t want to think about the principal.
“Well-” “Did you plan to die on the day of the Dance?” Rev’s mouth shut as he looked at Bella, whose gaze was focused forward, but she knew he was listening. So she repeated it.
“Did you plan to use the Necronomicon to get rid of your curse? So that you could die?” Hearing this, Rev looked ahead, thinking about the answer. He could deflect, but… what is the point?
“...Yes.” He simply answered.
“Why?” And she asked. That reminded him of their talk during that prom.
“Ever since I got here. I always had a goal. That goal… relied on nothing here being worth sticking around.” He turned towards her, but she continued to stare forward, waiting for him.
“So… I tried not to let anything change my mind. Because if it did, it would just make it all… harder.” For me. For everyone.
“But guess what? It didn’t work.” He chuckled, making Bella look at him, looking at his expression. It was not an angry one. Or a bitter one. Just… his face. Him showing his true emotions for her. He then looked at her, his eyes warm with fondness.
“Because of that stupid vampire. Because of that stubborn angel. And more importantly… because of you, Bella. Because you are the most human.” He looked at her as Bella gazed at him, her expression blank for a moment.
Before she struck him in the arm, making him wince.
“OW!” He yelled out before he was struck by her several more times. They didn’t hurt much, but he still felt pain.
“You are such an idiot! You know that!” She yelled out, and before he could respond, she hugged him, making him lose his breath in surprise.
“...Like I told you, Rev. You are the most human. In this bloody school.” Rev couldn’t help but snort at that, hearing Bella, of all people, cursing this school out. But… he hugged her back, enjoying her warmth.
They stayed like that for a short while before Bella pulled back.
“Sorry. I… I guess during that watch… I realised why you even had that necronomicon.” He nodded at that.
“Yes. I… I gave up on trying to do that. Because I guess… I found my reason to live.”
“Being a pain for the Principal?” At her question, he grinned towards her.
“Bet ya I am.” She snorted at that before regaining her composure. Sighing, she turned to the railing and leaned against it. Looking at it, she remembered an alternative version in which Rev impaled his hands on it.
“...What are we, Rev?” The sudden question made Rev look at her in confusion, but then he remembered what happened not long ago. With a sigh, he leaned on the railing next to her.
“You are thinking about our alternative selves?” Thinking about them, Rev couldn’t help but feel both embarrassed… and jealous of his other version. He seems more emotionally open. Or at least, towards his Bella. His Little Witch.
“Mhm.” Bella nodded as Rev sighed. He will hate himself later for that.
“Bella.” Hearing her name, the witch turned to look at Rev and was surprised when he closed the distance between them, making her straighten up. She looked at him as he looked down at her, leaning forward so that their faces were close to each other.
“Rev.” She looked at his grey eyes; she could see warmth in them. Warmth pointed towards her. He breathed out, as if he was ready for that.
“Do you want to?” He asked, his gaze burrowing into her. She stared at him, opening and closing her mouth. She wanted to say yes. But then… she remembered the plan. She and her club (with Wendy being quite reluctant) wanted to find out what was wrong with Rev, the secret around the Poetry Club and the two members, Mary and Roman. Not to mention Rev’s weird behaviour. She…
“...Not yet.” She replied and stepped back. But when she looked at him, she was slightly surprised by his nodding.
“...Same… and I don’t want us to get together just because our counterparts were lovely dovely.” He quickly explained, making her blush in embarrassment and look away too.
“Yeah… same.”
“... I would still like to watch whatever we found. But… not that Timeline. I feel like I need to take a serious break from it or my mind will break.” At Rev’s exasperated voice, Bella couldn’t help but nervously chuckle, knowing how Rev feels.
“I agree. What we already found out was… a lot.” Bella blushed, remembering how that Rev acted around her other version. It felt weird but in a warm way. She can presume it comes with her seeing something she wouldn’t have done. Or at least… She thinks so.
“...Do you think we will find something that will embarrass the Siren?” Hearing him, Bella snorted, remembering what she had done.
“Maybe. I did kinda break her before I got here.”
“Damn, I missed that.” Rev scoffed, making Bella giggle. She then sighed as she looked up at the Waxing Crescent, similar to what she and others saw in the Segment. She then sighed and looked at Rev with a stern expression.
“Now, let’s come back to our dorms. Curfew will be in half an hour. And you don’t want to be transformed into a toad by Miss Yaga, do you?” Rev huffed at her, looking at her with a humoured look.
“Okay, goodie two-shoes.” She returned the look.
“Delinquent.”
Both went to their dorms. Their minds were filled with what they had experienced today. Tomorrow… they will experience more.
To be continued…
Right. So that you will not miss it, my next idea is for them to react to Team Fortress versions. Problem... I have a hard time figuring out who is who. Well, besides some exceptions.
Scout - I at first thought of Rev, but then I came up with Mark as an idea: Given that Scout canonically has older brothers who are much stronger, it would be interesting for others to see Cocky Mark.
Soldier - Actual problem with him, because either Mino or Harry. Or I guess Shane.
Pyro - Mary. Or Wendy. Actually, Wendy would be more hilarious.
Demoman - Akuma.
Heavy - Mino
Engineer - No idea who would fit there... I guess Dra Con and Bella? Or maybe Wendy, given I made her in the previous chapter drunk...
Medic - Dr Frankenstein or Jacqueline Hyde
Sniper - I guess... Seabastian and Harrah.
Spy - Lovecraft and Nyarle.
Administrator - Viviana
Miss Pauling - Nerrisa? Okay, maybe not. Unsure again.
Honestly, I would show one being on the red team while others are on the blue team. So they won't get confused about there being duplicates of each team... or actually, no. There would be, but I think maybe Rev would know why... Or not. And I would love suggestions on which characters would fit the overall vibe better.
