Chapter Text
“Oh my god this is the shelter!” A sudden yell woke up the Favorites from their slumber. Everyone proceeded to walk out of it and were greeted by the sight of a young woman looking at the place in awe.
“Um hello,” Lake said taking the first step to approach the mysterious newcomer.
“Wait, aren’t you from the Fans team?” Natalia asked. “How did you even get here?”
“Guess they didn’t tell you. Last night was a team swap. Fiore decided to swap with me.”
“So, Fiore is still in game?” Alec looked hopefully.
“Yup, apparently she saw something in me,” the woman flipped her hair a little.
“So do you have a name?” Spencer asked.
“Um it’s Ara, do you even pay attention?” Ara raised an eyebrow. “I was right about you.”
Lake and Rosa let out a small giggle. As Aiden glared at Ara.
---
Confessional Aiden:
“Okay based on first impressions, Ara swapping isn’t ideal. Someone like Bruno or Sam would have been better. Heck even Evie.” Aiden giggled a little. “With her we could at least mess with Alec.”
Confessional Alec:
“Thank god Fiore is still in the game.” Alec smiled fondly thinking of her. “I have faith she’ll do well on the Fans Team.”
---
“This is what you call a shelter?” Fiore asked approaching the Fan’s shelter or lack thereof.
“Someone there?” Ren asked walking out before noticing Fiore. “Oh no, Fiore did you get lost?”
“Lost what do you take me for!” Fiore yelled as the other Fans made their way out of the shelter. “Oh, good everyone is here so I only have to explain this once.”
“What do you mean everyone?” Finn asked before gesturing to the side of him. “We’re missing Ara!”
“No, you’re not. Long story short last night’s vote was a team swap. My team was dumb and decided to vote me out, so I sent Ara over their way.”
“Are you kidding me!” Finn whined, collapsing to his knees.
“Oh, Finn I’m so sorry,” Sam placed a hand on Finn’s shoulder.
“A favorite got swapped over and it wasn’t Tom!” Finn covered his face in anguish, while Sam looked at the camera unamused.
“Aww why did they vote out a cutie pie such as you?” Ren teased.
“Have you seen the show?” Bruno asked. “Fiore is…”
“Utterly adorable!” Ren giggled, taking Bruno aback a little. “Her cuteness is surely what saved her time and time again.”
“If you’re trying to flatter me it won’t work,” Fiore retorted.
“Welp if you’re going to be on the team then we might as well show you around!” Manu cheered scooping Fiore up and placing her on his shoulders. Before she could protest he started leading her away.
“Manu be careful!” Bruno gasped following the two.
---
Confessional Fiore:
“Am I relieved to still in the game? Duh. But am I happy to be swapped? No.” Fiore pouted and crossed her arms. “Unfortunately for the time being I have to play nice and make allies with the fans. The one who forgot Tom is married is a no go while the one who called me cute… They’re a maybe.”
Confessional Ren:
“So, I may have gotten excited by seeing Fiore.” Ren giggled while tapping her fingers together. “I just couldn’t help it! I used to help little kids like her all the time at the carnival when they got lost.”
Ren chuckled and rubbed the back of their head.
“I guess old habits die hard.”
---
“Who needs fishing gear when we have Tom?” Anastasia asked excitedly as the Favorites sat around the campfire happily enjoying some crab soup.
“Heh thanks, I’m grateful I remembered how to make traps,” Tom said as he took a bite of the soup. “Guess it’s like riding a bike.”
“I am loving this so much more than the Fan’s team,” Ara sighed. “Okay I miss Finn but that’s it.”
“Which one was Finn?” Gabby asked stirring her soup around a bit.
“Blonde, fur jacket, mustache.”
“Oh, the one you accidently you landed on Tom!” Aiden teased, not noticing that Tom made a grimace as Ara revealed that.
Soon breakfast was over and the Cyan group left first and together as expected. Natalia, who had volunteered to clean up paused for a moment.
“Something the matter?” Alec asked noticing her concern.
“This bowl looks like it’s still full,” Natalia said holding up one of the leaf bowls. “Did someone not eat?”
“If I had to take a guess.” Alec rubbed his chin a little bit. “The culprit was Gabby. I remember her being at least a vegetarian back in Season 1 but knowing her she’s more likely to be a vegan. Guess she actually showed some growth surprisingly.”
“What do you mean by surprisingly?”
“Easy.” Alec started assisting Natalia in throwing the leaf bowls into the fire. “Gabby threatened to kill Nick in episode 1 over wearing cashmere yet here she is quietly pretended to eat soup with meat in it.”
“A vegan on a survival show.” Natalia looked off in the direction the Cyan Alliance had left in. “How did she even last until the final 8 twice?”
“Easy Tipiskaw has an abundance of apple trees and blueberry bushes she was able to harvest from. Come All Stars, she had Tom who knew the area like the back of his hand, saving her energy. They don't know what fruits grows on this island, meaning finding it is much harder.”
“You’d think they’d find her a coconut or something…”
“She could be trying to hide it from everyone.” Alec paused in thought. “The weaker she appears the more likely she could be made a target.”
Alec looked over at Natalia clearly, having a look of guilt on her face.
“If you want to befriend her fine by me. Honestly it could be a good chance to break up the Cyan Alliance.” Alec noticed Natalia’s face falling at the last remark. “But it is also a good thing to do. The latter is simply just a bonus.”
---
Confessional Alec:
“Listen I may be a game player, but I am not heartless.” Alec took off his glasses for a second. “I rather have Gabby fueled for challenges then her passing out. And with Fiore swapped I do need to branch out. Natalia seems to be a good start. So, I must appeal to all sides of her.”
Confessional Natalia:
“I see what Alec is doing, trying to get to me through emotions.” Natalia huffed and crossed her arms. “However, I must admit there is major benefit to aligning with Gabs and Tomas. But I do think Gabby having food is something that goes beyond the game. If they choose to flip to my side.”
Natalia chuckled before flipping her hair.
“Then it’s merely a bonus.”
---
“Ara a word,” Spencer asked approaching her.
“What do you want Spencer, an alliance?” Ara asked, placing her hands on her hips.
“Indeed.”
“Well then, tell me your pitch.” Ara began looking at her nails, unamused that Spencer was talking to her.
“So, as I’m sure you can see, Aiden, Lake, Rosa, Tom, and Gabby are all aligned.”
“What no! I thought the friend group wouldn’t stick together!” Ara faked a gasp and rolled her eyes.
“Sarcasm aside, long story short we need to break them up. Ally and Benji voted with them last time, but I have a feeling those two can be swayed to flip.”
“Listen I have no plans on being the sixth to a group of five so if that’s what you’re worried about then…”
“Actually, I think you could be what we need to add some friction into the quintet.”
“I’m listening,” Ara perked up with an eager smile.
“Aiden’s smart and more likely than not will approach you to join his alliance. You can tell him what you want as I have no plan to control your game, lest you target me. But at least consider it and find a weak spot.”
“That sounds like fun.” Ara grinned. “I accept on one condition. You don’t write my name down in the premerge.”
“As long as you promise to not write mine as well, we have a deal.”
Ara nodded and stretched out her hand; Spencer happily accepted it.
---
Confessional Spencer:
“So, it appears last night was a team swap. If had to guess, someone on the Cyan Alliance was made aware of it and used it to sway Ally and Benji.” Spencer nodded to himself. “Can’t say I blame them; it might have swayed me as well.”
Confessional Ara:
“So as the new girl on the tribe I bet all the Favorites are gonna want me in their alliances!” Ara gestured to herself with a pleasant smirk. “Spencer was just desperate enough to approach me first.”
Ara chuckled to herself.
“And hey first come first serve but aligning with him does have benefits even if he’s annoying.”
---
“Dunia over here!” Ren called, causing Dunia looked up from her foraging.
“Need something Cheshire?” Dunia asked with a smile.
“Surprise!” Ren cheered as she handed Dunia a pile of wood.
“What is…” Dunia’s eyes went wide in realization. “Are these tarot cards?”
“You bet!” Ren grinned eagerly. “I know they aren’t the real thing, but I was hoping they make you feel more at home.”
Dunia cautiously reached into the deck and pulled out three cards. Specifically, The Moon, The Sun, and The Lovers. Dunia’s face softened and she hugged Ren in excitement.
“Thank you so much.” Dunia let go of the hug. “Where did you even get these?”
“Well, I had a little help,” Ren turned behind him before nodding. Slowly Ernesto popped out of a nearby bush, with a small wave.
“Ernie, you made these!” Dunia said as the older man walked over.
“Well, I didn’t really understand it but if Ren says it will help then count me in.” Ernesto gave a thumbs up. “Glad I was able to put my woodcarving skills to some use.”
“Hmm you don’t mind I could some extra hands for a little project.”
“Oh, what are you making?”
“I want to make an altar for the camp,” Dunia grinned. “I think it might help us in the long run.”
“I can crave whatever you’d like!” Ernesto beamed
“I’ll keep it mind, but for now we’ll need a knife, a bowl of salt for earth, water, and a wand for fire.”
“I can definitely crave a nice wooden bowl for it! I’ll just need the dimensions of what you would like it to have.”
“Sounds like a plan Ernie.”
---
Confessional Ernesto:
“I thought nothing could be better that being listened to,” Ernesto sighed before lifting himself up. “But being looked to for help? Maybe Ren’s right about not always putting in my two cents. Afterall it’s two cents away from being broke.”
Ernesto chuckled to himself before continuing.
“If Dunia wants help with her altar, then help she will get!”
---
“And this is the campfire where we eat!” Manu said excitedly. “Oh, and we have two more of our teammates Evie and Sam!”
“Sam how much longer until the waffles are ready?” Evie sighed as she kept fanning herself.
“Um…” Sam looked into the pot mostly full of crabs. “I’m working on it…”
“What show does she think this is Big Brother?” Fiore asked, raising an eyebrow.
“Oh hey!” Evie lifted her sunglasses with a smile. “You’re Alec’s daughter! Right?”
“Um I guess you could say that…” Fiore responded awkwardly.
“Has he found the washing machine yet?”
“Why would Alec have a washing machine?” Manu asked looking towards Bruno.
“Oh, easy I let him have a scroll for it!” Evie beamed, causing the other three Fans to turn to face her while Fiore looked nervously. “Remember when I went on the journey thing!”
“That must explain the Team Swap!” Manu said snapping his fingers. “He must have been worried about you Fiore!”
Manu started to rub Fiore head, but she gently pushed him away.
“Careful with the hat please,” Fiore said as she adjusted it back.
“That would explain why there’s a Team Swap in episode 2.” Bruno nodded. “Season 1 had it in episode 1, Season 2 episode 4, All Stars didn’t even have one, and Season 4 had one in episode 8.”
“Well Alec did say he couldn’t tell me what it said,” Fiore gave a slightly nervous smile. “But he probably used it to protect me know I was in danger.”
“Aww that is so sweet!” Manu scooped Fiore up and hugged her tightly.
---
Confessional Bruno:
“Manu is certainly braver than me.”
Confessional Fiore:
“Well, that could have gone better.” Fiore face palmed slightly. “I don’t know what Manu’s insistence on picking me up is, but he at least covered my butt with his scroll idea.”
Fiore looked around nervously.
“I just hope everyone buys it.”
Confessional Sam:
“Personally, I think the scroll is something else other than the swap.” Sam shrugged. “Fiore did seem a bit nervous when Evie mentioned it.”
Sam smirked a little.
“I think it’s in my best interest to keep it to myself. Don’t want to cause to many waves.”
---
“Great job on the vote everyone!” Aiden said excitedly. “The vote went off without a hitch!”
“Hooray!” Gabby cheered albeit quietly.
“Gabs you, okay?” Tom asked. “You sound tired.”
“Oh yeah.” Gabby brushed him off. “Just had some trouble sleeping last night. No need to worry about me!”
Gabby laughed, albeit nervously. Lake couldn’t help but look at her with concern.
“So, any opinions on Ara?” Rosa asked.
“She annoys me,” Lake crossed her arms and pouted.
“Fiore had to choose her for a reason,” Tom said as he rubbed his chin. “Maybe we could…”
“Our priority should be figuring out Ara’s deal who know what she is like.” Aiden said as he glanced around. “Something tells me Fiore had her reasons her choosing her.”
“I just said that…” Tom mumbled, but no one heard.
“It does make sense,” Lake agreed. “She is a gift-wrapped ally to anyone who wants her. But I have my doubts she will want to align with the five of us.”
“She doesn’t have to align with all of us,” Rosa proposed. “But maybe one of us. And then she just so happens to vote with us!”
“Lake, I think it should be you,” Aiden proposed.
“Me?”
“Lake and Ara are nothing alike,” Gabby deflected. “Lake is much nicer.”
“I dunno…” Lake looked down. “Can I think about it?”
“Sure Lake, but it could be beneficial to us.”
---
Confessional Lake:
“Truth be told I’m a bit nervous about talking to Ara…” Lake looked away before sighing. “Between seasons I had a relationship with another girl. She was very nice, but we decided we were better off as just friends.”
Lake sighed once again.
“It was for the best, but I have to admit Ara is pretty so I…”
Lake bolted up.
“Don’t want to think about it!”
---
“Hey has anyone seen Dunia?” Nura asked as Finn and Oliwia were standing around.
“Dunia?” Oliwia titled her head a little. “Think I saw her talking to Ren.”
“Why do you care about Dunia?” Finn raised an eyebrow.
“I can say the same thing about you and Oliwia,” Nura pointed to the duo.
“Oh, Finn and I are friends!” Oliwia cheered wrapping an arm around Finn.
“I said we can be allies,” Finn said bluntly taking Oliwia’s arm off of him.
“But that’s step one to being friends!”
“I’ll leave you too it…” Nura slowly started to back away.
---
Confessional Finn:
“First I lose Ara to a Team Swap and don’t even get Tom as a teammate as a compensation,” Finn growled as he crossed his legs. “Somehow the only person besides me without an ally is Oliwia. Even Fiore has Manu and Bruno!”
Confessional Nura:
“Man, this guilt is eating me alive.” Nura hugged herself a little, before placing a hand on her head. “I was expecting a lot coming out here but not this.”
---
“Welcome back teams,” Emily greeted as both teams made their way to the base of the volcano. “As you can see last vote was a team swap!”
“Ara, I miss you so much!” Finn cried before perking up. “Can you put in a good word for Tom for me!”
“Finn I’m not…”
“He’s married!” Aiden yelled. “Even the Tom haters know that!”
Tom smiled as Aiden yelled that.
“Hi Alec!” Evie said excitedly before wrapping an arm around Fiore. “Don’t worry we’ll take good care of your daughter for you!”
“Fiore’s not my daughter!” Alec gasped.
“You could have fooled me,” Anastasia mumbled. Earning a chuckle from Natalia before she caught herself.
“Okay we’re all caught up!” Emily clapped her hands together to get both Teams’ attention. “So, I supposed you’re wondering what today’s challenge is.”
“Does it involve that giant seemingly active volcano?” Sam asked a bit nervously.
“Uh huh.” Emily nodded. “You’ll all be running the volcano collecting as many rocks as you can! You’ll need as many as you can gather cause the second part of the challenge will involve throwing them at a series of plushies for each team!”
“Can we keep the plushies?” Benji asked hopefully. “I know Tris wouldn’t mind a mini me.”
“Hmm if they’re don’t burn up sure!”
“There um wouldn’t happen to be any paper?” Sam asked nervously.
“No?” Emily raised an eyebrow. “Why would we have that?”
"No reason..." Sam responded but looked away.
---
Confessional Sam:
“Okay I know you’re probably watching,” Sam said his eyes darting a bit. “I’m sorry but I can’t do the Boston Rob thing…”
Sam smiled weakly before crossing his fingers.
“I’ll try again next time…”
---
“Now that that’s all settled, Favorites he need one sit out!” Emily held up a finger before pointing at Benji. “And no double dipping Benji.”
“I wasn’t planning too!” Benji said with a proud smile.
“I don’t mind sitting out this one…” Rosa raised her hand with a nervous smile.
Immediately a helicopter came down, and Emily and Rosa Maria hopped onboard.
“Oh, before I forget!” Emily yelled as it started to take off. “The team who has every member make it to the top first will have an advantage in part 2!”
Once the helicopter was out of sight both teams began running up the volcano.
“Tom, Gabby,” Aiden said turning around to the duo. “It looks like everyone is running up. Why not stay behind and collect some rocks?”
“Hmm I don’t see a problem with that,” Tom said with a smile. “We can catch up easily, right Gabs?”
“Mmm hmm!” Gabby said with a nod. Aiden gave a thumbs up and headed off.
“You’re hesitating to leave?” Anastasia asked, noticing Lake looking behind.
“Oh Anastasia,” Lake gasped, stopping to pick up a rock. “I um didn’t see you there.”
“Listen,” Anastasia took a deep breath in before continuing. “I know we were on opposite sides of the vote. But it wouldn’t hurt to let your feelings out.”
“Hmm…” Lake looked off to the side Aiden behind the duo, collecting some rocks.
---
Confessional Lake:
“I know Aiden wants the Cyan Alliance to stick together…” Lake sighed. “But there’s something I am worried about. Rosa isn’t here and I do need to say this aloud…”
---
“Can you keep a secret?” Lake asked as Anastasia nodded. “I am a bit worried about Gabby…”
“Gabby?” Anastasia titled her head; Lake gestured for the two of them to keep moving which they did so.
“Call me crazy but I have doubt she’s eating…” Lake looked away for a moment. “Or at least not eating as much as she should. She’s been tired the past few days, which she claims is from bad sleep, but I’ve seen plenty of girls suffer from it before…”
“I know what you mean,” Anastasia confessed. “It’s one of the multitude of reasons I retired from modeling. But from the little I know about Gabby I doubt she’s doing it for the same reasons.”
“She has dietary restrictions.” Lake turned around again before continuing. “When we competed on All Stars she mentioned she was vegan. Luckily, having knowledge of the area made it easy for her. But here…”
“You don’t need to continue.” Anastasia placed a hand on Lake’s shoulder. “And if it helps, I won’t let anyone else know.”
---
Confessional Anastasia:
“I know Lake means a lot to Rosa, as Rosa’s friend.” Anastasia paused. “I think… I should at least be friendly to Lake. It’s her decision on whether she reciprocates.”
---
“You don’t have to carry me everywhere!” Fiore complained as Manu was once again having her ride on his shoulder.
“But it’s so much fun!” Manu soon beamed. “It’s just like when Aleki was little!”
“Plus, we need the advantage for Part 2,” Bruno added. “I’m not sure what it could be, but we need anything we can to win.”
“Then why not have Fiore stay low to ground and pick up rocks!” The trio turned around to Ren suddenly behind them.
“Um Ren this is kind of a speed challenge,” Bruno said sheepishly.
“And Fiore is closer to the ground she can pick up rocks faster!” Ren turned before gesturing beside her. “Besides it’s better than whatever Evie is doing.”
Everyone turned to see Evie just lounging on a rock, fanning herself.
“Oh, hey guys I’m just resting here!” Evie waved happily to her teammates.
“I do have larger arms,” Manu pointed out before placing Fiore down. “I can carry the extra rocks Fiore can’t!”
“That’s the spirit!” Ren gave a thumbs up. Bruno and Manu started to head up. Fiore smirked before stepping in front of Ren.
“Ren a word?”
“For you? Of course!” Ren grinned.
“I’d like to propose an alliance with you. Call me crazy but from the few hours I’ve been here, I can tell you at least have a decent social game. Besides I owe ya one for not having Manu carry me the whole way up.”
“Aww he’s just trying to help in his own Manu way.” Ren chuckled to himself. “But it does seem this alliance benefits you more than me.”
“I’m desperate sue me.” Fiore pouted. “Rather be aligned with you than that lack of personal space duo.”
“Up, up, up, I never said no.” Ren giggled. “I’m opened to the idea. If you can do a little bit of math.”
“I’m here away from school!” Ren didn’t budge.
“Fine…”
“Okay we’re on a team of 11 and there’s two of us, meaning there is nine people outside of our alliance. Is two bigger than nine?” Ren grinned widely.
“No…” Fiore mumbled.
“Exactly,” Ren’s face was surprisingly eager. “If you are willing to trust me, I can help you.”
“Fine.” Fiore rolled her eyes. “You have my trust. And to prove it, you also have my vote.”
---
Confessional Ren:
“Would you look at little old me!” Ren chuckled to herself. “Seems like I got myself a new ally! And it’s Fiore. This is gonna be fun!”
Confessional Fiore:
“Out of all the Fans on my new team Ren is the least annoying.” Fiore gestured off camera before crossing her arms. “So, putting my trust in him is worth this chance to save my butt.”
---
“And this is rock number 9!” Ally cheered pulling out a rock from a small crevasse.
“That is so impressive!” Benji said excitedly, before looking over. “Hey this rock kind of looks like Kirby.”
“I don’t see it,” Ally said look at the rock Benji was holding.
“Well, this is the body and the little things pointing out look like arms…” Benji’s voice got quitter as he spoke.
“Hmm that sounds more like a Tess thing to notice,” Ally smiled warmly.
“Oh yeah, you and Hunter recently became a poly with her. What’s it like?” Beni froze. “I mean like vibes not um anything else…”
“It’s fine Benji,” Ally chuckled. “The vibes are good. Tess is like the missing piece Hunter, and I didn’t know we needed, until it happened. The three of us couldn’t be happier.”
“Well, I’m happy for you!”
“How are you and Tristan?” Ally asked. “I was a huge fan of you two last season.”
“We’re pretty good,” Benji smiled before kicking a rock, which he immediately picked up nervously. “Long distance can be hard, but we make it work. Ivy helps out too. She’s very good with date ideas.”
“That’s sweet of her.” Ally smiled. “After this season we should totally plan a trio game night!”
“Stardew Valley!” Benji said. “That allows for up to eight!”
“I was thinking more of Smash but I’m down for a co-op farm.” Ally looked around before continuing. “Hey Benji I have an idea I want to throw your way.”
“I’m all ears!” Benji cheered, picking up a rock that somehow looked like an ear of corn causing the two of them to stop and chuckle. “That was unintentional.”
“Back to my idea,” Ally smirked. “How would you feel about being swing votes?”
“Swing votes? Like flipping between sides…” Benji scratched his head a little. “I’m not opposed but it does seem risky.”
“I rather do that I go full being numbers 6 and 7 on Team Cyan.” Ally said bluntly. “If I wasn’t scared about Aiden sending someone over to mess up my game, I would have been willing to flip. But it wasn’t something I could risk.”
“If there had been a bigger alliance on the table, I would’ve been open to flipping too,” Benji admitted. “Sure, I’m all about having fun, but I want to win too!”
“Wait so if the seven outsiders stuck together you would have voted with them?”
“Possibly, I know my castmates better than the Cyan Alliance.” Benji rubbed the back of his head. “And I know Anastasia and Natalia never made up. Natalia has made plenty of rants about Anastasia reaching out.”
Benji rolled his eyes, causing Ally to giggle.
“See that’s why being the swing votes could be beneficial,” Ally said. “We wouldn’t be tied to anyone and could get numbers…”
“Are you worried Aiden is holding more than a small grudge from All Stars?” Benji asked as Ally nodded. “If it makes you feel better, I think you made the right decision. Aiden, Jake, or Connor could have made it clearer there wasn’t a pecking order. Instead, they did and you were on the bottom. You simply made a move to better your game.”
“Glad someone agrees.”
---
Confessional Benji:
“So swing votes,” Benji swung his arms a bit. “I remember Tristan being a swing vote with Ivy and Zaid last season. And it would have worked had Spencer not had Jade’s totem. So yeah, I’m down for it.”
Confessional Ally:
“It’s nice having support for my decision to flip,” Ally grinned albeit weakly. “I know how this fandom can be with flippers. It is a valid strategy!”
---
“Looks like we’re in the lead for the Fans,” Sam observed as he and Dunia made their way up the volcano. “Too bad we’ll need everyone to get the advantage.”
“Oh, don’t be such a negative Nancy,” Dunia chuckled a little. “Manu is carrying Fiore around like she’s his daughter! We’ll be fine.”
“Oh, she’s not the one I’m worried about…”
“I assume you’re referring to Tweedle Dee.”
“And I assume that is referring to Finn.” Sam froze. “Wait why is Ara Tweedle Dumb?”
“Eh it annoys her more.”
“Okay that is surprising,” Sam chuckled a little. “You seem like the kind of person who doesn’t have a bad bone in their body.”
“Honestly I didn’t like how they treated Bruno,” Dunia sighed and picked up a rock. “He’s just an eager fan.”
“From some of the horrors stories of fans, I’ve been told, Bruno is tame.” Sam smiled fondly.
“Oh? You got a loved one who’s super fan like Manu back home?”
“Oh well a friend of my coworker’s girlfriend is a huge fan of Disventure Camp. She has shared some stories.” Sam shuddered a little. “Thankfully she didn’t scare me off from competing.”
“Well, I’m glad she didn’t. You never know what happens on this show.”
---
Confessional Dunia:
“Between you and me, I think Sam’s got a little crush.” Dunia smiled a bit slyly. “I saw that smile.”
---
“Something’s wrong,” Alec announced to his group, consisting of him, Natalia, Spencer, and Ara. “We’re in the lead…”
“So normally that’s a good thing.” Ara rolled her eyes.
“Not when Tom is one our team…”
“Alec’s right. Tomas is fast, something has to be holding him back.” Natalia leaned over the side of the volcano. “I don’t even see him.”
“Probably sticking by Aiden and Lake,” Spencer proposed. “I know Lake can be a fast runner, but Aiden isn’t the most athletic.”
“Oh, how pathetic does Tom have to be!” Alec exclaimed.
“Sticking by an ally isn’t pathetic.” Natalia turned towards Alec furiously.
“Says Queen Flipper,” Ara teased.
“I had my reasons,” Natalia flippered her hair before frowning.
“I meant it as a complement. Trust!” Ara said only to be ignored. “Hey I have a fun idea, in exchange for some tea from the Fans team you help me and Spencer with a little plan.”
“I assume said plan involved the Cyan Alliance,” Alec theorized.
“Well, I was talking to Natalia, but I supposed you can help.”
“So, I was right.”
“Ara and I were planning on finding cracks within the Cyan Alliance,” Spencer began explaining. “Then we could…”
“Excuse me stupid Brit, you got more than enough screen time last season!” Ara interrupted. “This is supposed to be my moment!”
“Fine carry on,”
“So sure, the Cyan Alliance may seem like all Sunshine and Rainbows but I know cliches. And cliches like that have to have some cracks. We just need to find said cracks.” Ara turned to Alec. “Actually, Alec you played with most of them, have any ideas of the cracks.”
“If I had to make an assumption. The best guess to find a crack is Rosa. She declined competing on All Stars, meaning she doesn’t have the same bond as the others. Lake was also the first boot from her team, so her allegiance to the Tom and Gabby duo may waiver.”
“Lake?” Ara grinned. “That works for me.”
“I think her break up was long enough ago she wouldn’t want a rebound,” Natalia gently pointed out. “Also, I have doubts even if it happened right before she left for the season, she would want that. She would respect her partner too much.”
“I actually meant being in similar situations, we’re both young women pursuing our ambitious dreams. I don’t plan on dating Lake, just relating to her. Though a bit of flirting with her could be fun.”
“Just don’t get carried away,” Spencer added before mumbling. “Speaking from experience.”
“Understatement of the year!” Natalia laughed.
---
Confessional Alec:
“So it seems I got lucky and am in a group of four.” Alec adjusted his glasses a bit. “I am a bit skeptical as Ara never said I was in the alliance, so I am on the edge.”
Alec removed his glasses and pinched the bridge of his nose.
“But at this point in my game…” Alec sighed. “I’ll take what I can get.”
Confessional Ara:
“So, things are going well for me.” Ara clapped her hands together. “Working with Alec isn’t ideal so I’m voting him off ASAP. But he can pretend he’s one of the group.”
---
“Another rock down!” Tom cheered as he picked one up. “Man why couldn’t the challenge be collecting these rocks.”
“Uh huh,” Gabby said quietly.
“You need a break, Gabby?” Tom asked looking at her concerned.
“Oh, I’m fine go on without me,” Gabby said weakly.
“Like I ever would!” Tom looked around before finding a decent looking rock. “Let’s sit down over here. I’m um, starting to feel hot in this jacket.”
Tom led Gabby to rock. Even pretending to fan himself a little. Gabby couldn’t help but giggled. She sighed as they two sat down.
“You feeling alright?” Tom asked once they were sitting.
“Of course, like I said earlier I just had trouble sleeping last night.”
“Did the soup not sit alright with you?” Tom grimaced a little. “I know it’s been what 15 years since you ate meat.”
“Oh, I ate around the crab don’t worry,” Gabby brushed him off with a smile.
“That’s not…” Tom paused. “That isn’t enough food to fuel your body…”
“Tom please don’t feel guilty.” Gabby begged. “I’m eating enough I promise!”
“Gabs…” Tom looked down before clutching something on his chest. “You promised everyone you would eat. I don’t want you to break your diet but...”
“Then we’ll find something!” Gabby stood up, seemingly getting a new burst of energy. “But first we have a challenge to win!”
---
Confessional Gabby:
“As a self-defense instructor, I teach my students how to be independent.” Gabby sighed slightly before smiling. “And I want to set a good example for them. So I don’t want to rely on anyone too much while I’m here…”
Gabby looked away as she shook a little.
“Besides being alone scares me… It’s why I asked Tom to join me. I didn’t want to do it without him.”
Gabby’s eyes widened for a second.
“But I am still going to rely mostly on myself!”
---
“Phew this is quite a hike,” Ernesto said as he stopped for a moment to catch his breath. He rubbed his legs a little when he noticed someone else trailing behind.
“Nura?”
“Oh um Ernesto, right?” Nura asked.
“There seems to be something on your mind,” Ernesto theorized. “If you want to talk I am here to support you.”
“I’m just,” Nura sighed in frustration. “Dealing with a lot of annoying feelings right now.”
Nura froze in place for a second.
“Wait you’re chummy with Dunia, right?” Nura looked at Ernesto with hopeful eyes.
“Why yes I suppose so.”
“Listen, I um did something I regret now, and I want to make it up to her. But I don’t how and this guilt is eating me alive.”
“Well call me old school but actions speak longer than words,” Ernesto said noticing Nura’s face fall slightly. “But if you wish to help Dunia, I may know way. She wants to make a pagan alter for the tribe and…”
“How can I help?” Nura asked.
“Well Dunia told me that she is looking for four things.” Ernesto held up his hand as he spoke. “A knife, a bowl of salt for earth, water, and a wand for fire.”
“Great those are going to be impossible to find!” Nura groaned.
“You never know,” Ernesto said before his eyes lit up. “Oh, look at this! This rock resembles a tomato!”
“How does a tomato rock help me?”
“It just shows you can find unexpected thing in unexpected places.”
Suddenly a screeching sound came from a few feet in front of them. Nura and Ernesto both winced and ran towards the sound.
“Come on Oliwia!” Finn bemoaned as Nura and Ernesto met up with the two of them. Finn staring at Oliwia, while she was drawing something on the wall.
“But look at these beautiful animals!” Oliwia grinned widely. “It’s been so long since I’ve been able to stuff one!”
“Well maybe we can find some animals,” Finn said awkwardly, through clearly gritted teeth. “After we win the challenge…”
“So, if we don’t win no taxidermy?”
“Correct…”
“I’m surprised he isn’t snapping,” Nura whispered to Ernesto.
“Then let’s win!” Oliwia cheered running off.
“Ahem the rocks.” Finn pointed to a small pile.
“You got it Finn!” Oliwia cheered picked up the pile. Dropping the rock she was holding she was holding for the pile.
“Huh?” Nura approached the rock and looked at it closely. “Hey this rock kind of resembles a knife… Maybe Dunia would like it.”
“Oh wonderful, between that rock and my work in progress for craving the bowl! We’ll have the altar done in no time! Now let’s go!”
As Ernesto ran off Nura couldn’t help but let out a smile.
---
Confessional Ernesto:
“I am in awe I get to be more needed. And just by helping others! Who knew it could be that simple.”
Confessional Nura:
Nura looks at the knife shape rock in her hands.
“I sure hope this works… Even if Dunia won’t forgive me for what I said, hopefully she’ll at least appreciate it.”
---
“And Dunia and Sam are the first to arrive to the top to the volcano!” Emily announced as the two fans arrived at the top of the volcano. The two grinned at each other and high fived.
“Are you kidding me?” Spencer asked as he, Ara, Alec, and Natalia ran in shortly behind them.
“Um we technically have the numbers advantage,” Ara pointed out.
“Out of all people to beat us,” Spencer mumbled.
“Watch this,” Sam whispered to Dunia with a slight smirk. He began to approach Spencer.
“Oh, what a nice rock you collected,” Sam observed picking one up from Spencer’s pile. “But it doesn’t really matter how nice is because we have a challenge to win so…”
Sam tossed the rock behind him.
“Might as well just throw it away, in the volcano.” Sam smirked with a wave. “Bye bye.”
“Hey that’s cheating!” Spencer argued back.
“Well Dunia and I collected plenty of rocks, but they pale in comparison to yours.”
“And I never said you couldn’t steal the other teams rock, so what Sam did is valid,” Emily pointed out.
“That was a bit flashy.” Dunia had a puzzled look on her face.
“I am man of word,” Sam responded bluntly.
“I assume to the friend you mentioned earlier.?” Dunia nudged Sam, who gave a slight nod, as Dunia grinned, Sam unaware how he confirmed her theory.
“Look at us go!” Manu cheered as he and Bruno ran into the chamber. Fiore once again on Manu’s shoulders.
“And with that the Fans currently have the lead!”
“Wahoo!”
“Says who?” Anastasia asked as she and Lake followed the trio.
“Oh my god, hi Lake I’m such a huge fan!” Bruno squealed. “You were robbed in both your seasons.”
“Oh, thank you,” Lake said sweetly as Rosa gave a small awe from next to Emily.
“You’re a Lake fan?” Ren appeared suddenly from behind Lake. Lake gave a small gasp before chuckling. “Huh bit of a surprise to me.”
“Surprise?” Bruno titled his head.
“Eh just the vibes,” Ren nudged Bruno slightly with a wide smile, causing a small blush to appear on Bruno’s face.
---
Confessional Bruno:
“What was…” Bruno paused. “Eh it feels weird!”
---
“Okay it’s looks like we’re down to just Tom and Gabby for the Favorites and Evie for the Fans.” Emily announced as almost everyone else had entered the chamber.
“Okay what the heck do you mean we’re waiting on Tom!” Alec gasped.
“And I thought you hated the guy,” Ara smirked with a slight giggle.
“It doesn’t make sense,” Alec turned towards Ara. “Even if he fell behind for something like helping someone, god knows he has a hero complex, he wouldn’t be the last one up.”
“Shoot I didn’t think this through,” Aiden whispered to Lake. “Tom and Gabby are probably trying to get as many rocks as possible. They might not realize how far behind they are.”
“Don’t worry I have faith in them,” Lake responded but couldn’t help but look behind her.
“Great of all people we have to rely on Evie!” Finn exclaimed. “Last I checked she was sleeping on a rock.”
“Pretty sure she was sunbathing,” Manu said weakly.
“Oh, please when you make Fiore a better a competitor it’s bad.”
“Excuse me!” Fiore growled.
“Leave her alone,” Dunia pulled Fiore close to her, to Fiore’s surprise. “She may be a little a girl, but she has her strengths.”
“Yeah, Fiore collected at least half the rocks I was carrying,” Manu added. “She’s done more than you and your one rock!”
“He found more,” Oliwia defended. “He pointed them to me and I picked them up.”
Oliwia beamed with pride while the other members of the Fans Team looked at each other. Finn couldn’t help but face palm.
“We’re here!” A voice shouted and everyone turned to see Tom and Gabby entering the chamber.
“Guys,” Aiden said walking over to the duo. “When I told you guys to stay behind to collect rocks I didn’t mean for that long.”
“Sorry we had to take a break,” Tom explained.
“A break really?” Aiden raised an eyebrow.
“The heat wasn’t helping my exhaustion,” Gabby said weakly.
“So, we all agree Gabby has the hammock tonight,” Benji suggested and the other Favorites nodded.
“With that the Favorites win part one and the advantage!” Emily announced before pulling out a walkie talkie. “Any word on how far behind Evie is? I see... Well can you fetch the helicopter for her. Thanks.”
The camera cuts to Evie still lounging on her rock.
---
Confessional Evie:
“This show is awesome!” Evie cheered. “Imagine if everyone could see me now. Climbing a volcano!”
---
Once Evie had joined the others, Emily pressed a button the plushies revealed themselves over the lava.
“Now that everyone is here, Favorite’s I’m sure you want to know what your advantage is?” Emily asked as the entire team nodded. “Well, it’s simple, there will be two people throwing the rocks you just collected to knock the plushies into the lava. And you get to decide who will be doing so! I’ll give you, hmm five minutes to decide.”
“Okay so any volunteers to throw?” Spencer asked the team.
“I will,” Anastasia said immediately. “My aim is quite good. I’m sure I can knock the plushies down quick.”
“Well, that’s one,” Ally said before turning. “Lake any interest in being our other one. You did almost beat Hunter in the first merge challenge. I think you got this.”
“Sure, I can do it,” Lake smiled.
“Alright we got that covered,” Natalia said before grinning. “Now who shall we throw to the wolves.”
“Fiore would give us a better chance of winning,” Aiden suggested.
“That’s quite the pattern for you Aiden,” Spencer said. "Always going for the easy way.”
“Even is we choose Fiore that’s only one person we need another,” Anastasia added.
“Maybe Ara should decide who goes up,” Tom suggested. “She knows the team better than anyone.”
“I can’t believe I’m saying this but that is actually a good idea Tom!” Alec gasped.
“I’m with Tom and Alec on this,” Benji said with a smile. “Ara we’ll support whoever you choose.”
---
Confessional Ara:
“Okay so picking who gets to throw for the Favorites is a double edge sword.” Ara looked surprisingly nervous. “If I pick strong throwers they can throw it back to me and make me an easy vote. But picking weak throwers tells the Fans I’m not on their side anymore…”
Ara froze.
“Wait a minute! I’m not on the Fans Team! This got easier.”
---
“Okay Favorites time’s up.” Emily announced. “Who is throwing for your team?”
“We are!” Anastasia and Lake announced at the same time.
“Sounds good,” Emily pressed a button on her remotes and Anastasia’s and Lake’s plushies fell into the lava. “Now for the Fans?”
Ara looked around when she caught Lake’s attention, who gave her a smile and a nod.
“Ernesto and Evie,” Ara said pointing to them respectively.
“Ernesto, Evie step up,” Emily requested pressing the button again causing Ernesto and Evie’s plushie to fall as well.
“Oh scary,” Evie took a step back from the lava.
“You got this guys!” Manu cheered from the sidelines before whispering to Bruno. “They got this right?”
“I have faith in Ernesto,” Bruno beamed. “Evie not so much…”
“Alright,” Emily stood in between the two teams. “This challenge begins in, 3, 2, 1. Go!”
Immediately Anastasia and Lake ran up to the Favorite’s pile of rocks. Lake grabbed one and threw it as Anastasia make a mini pile for herself before running back. Lake threw her first rock which missed.
“Grab a couple at time,” Anastasia explained to Lake after her fail throw. “It will save time.”
“Hmm sounds good,” Lake added following the strategy.
“Come on Evie,” Ernesto exclaimed as he got into position to throw.
“I don’t know if I can do this…” Evie said nervously. “That lava is scary…”
“Don’t focus it then.” Ernesto threw his first rock and missed. “Focus on the plushies.”
“I got this!” Evie yelled and threw the rock which barely went two feet.
“This is harder than it looks…” Lake admitted as she threw another rock.
“Looks like we got to work on our aim.” Anastasia said and she threw another rock and missed.
“Hmm…” Lake looked at the plushie of Finn. She grinned and threw a rock and to her delight hit it.
“Hey!” Finn yelled from the Fans Team.
“Nice move!” Anastasia followed suit and was able to knock Nura’s plushie into the lava as well.
“And the Favorites currently have the lead!” Emily announced.
“Not for long,” Ernesto said to himself tossing another rock, knocking Ally’s plushie into the water, meanwhile Evie threw a rock, only for it to knock back and hit her in the face.
Lake and Anastasia continued to work as a team, knocking down plush after plushie. Ernesto did his best to catch up, knocking down as much as he could. Evie meanwhile, kept hitting everything but the plushies.
“Ouch!” Bruno cried after one of Evie’s misthrows hit him in the side of his head.
“Short stuff!” Manu cried.
“Don’t worry,” Dunia moved a bit of Bruno’s hair. “He isn’t bleeding to anything.”
“Oh, thank goodness!” Manu held Bruno close.
One by one the plushies feel into the lava. Lake and Anastasia made a good team. And Ernesto had a surprisingly good throwing arm. Which in hindsight made Ara a teeny bit nervous.
“Looks like we’re down to one for the Favorites and four for the Fans!” Emily said as the challenge began to draw to a close. As she spoke Evie ran up and threw a rock, which missed the plushies again.
“Say how about we both throw at the same time?” Anastasia proposed, handing Lake another rock.
“Hmm sounds good.” Lake nodded.
“One three?”
“Eins, zwei, drei!” Lake shouted as both girls threw their rocks. Said rocks flew and collided on Bruno’s plushies causing it to fall into the lava.
“And with that the Favorites win again!” Emily cheered.
The Favorites immediately cheered.
"And Benji as promised," Emily took the Benji plushie which miraculously hadn't fallen into the lava. "Here you are!"
"Tristan is going to love this!" Benji cheered hugging his plushie self, earning a few awes from some of his teammates.
“As for you Fans." Emily turned to the losing team. "I’ll be seeing you later tonight for elimination.”
---
Confessional Tom:
“I’m so happy we won!” Tom cheered. “Without a vote to worry about I have more time to find food for Gabby!”
Confessional Alec:
“I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried about Fiore… But it would also be a lie if I said that I didn’t have faith in her to succeed.”
---
“I am so sorry everyone,” Ernesto said to the team once they made it back to camp. “I am promised I really tried.”
“Ernesto don’t blame yourself,” Ren said wrapping her arm around him.
“You were doing the work of two people by yourself,” Dunia added. “That also counts for something.”
“So am I safe tonight?”
“Of course!”
“Fiore over here!” Ren called to the little girl.
“Need something?” Fiore asked once she approached the trio.
“Don’t think I forgot about our little deal!”
“Yeah, yeah shoot.”
“You made a deal with Fiore?” Dunia smiled. “Cheshire you never cease to amaze me.”
“Um remember the math?” Fiore pointed out. “Four is still smaller than seven!”
“Trust me remember?” Ren lifted up their bangs to wink at Fiore. “I say we take the easy route and vote out Evie. She is barely contributing to team. I know we can convince almost everyone else to vote that way too.”
“If you’re voting Evie, I’m in,” the four of them turn to see Sam walking over. “Apologies for the intrusion but I couldn’t help but overhear. With Evie still on the team, we’re fated to lose, challenge after challenge. I know it’s still early but we still got think long term.”
“Glad you see you have a brain Sam,” Ren chuckled. “Dunia, Ernesto what about you too?”
“Oh count me in!”
“Same here.”
“I can properly get Bruno and Manu to vote Evie too,” Fiore said gesturing in the direction the duo had headed in. “That gives us seven at least.”
---
Confessional Fiore:
“I know what you’re thinking, isn’t it smarter to keep someone who can be seen as weaker than me?” Fiore nodded a bit. “If I didn’t just swap to this team, I’d consider other options but right now my focus is on securing allies. Right now I just have Ren and he’s a maybe at best. So easy for now, then find a new target later.”
---
“I fear we still have one problem,” Sam confessed. “Who do we tell Evie to vote for?”
Everyone looked over to Evie. Who was a few feet away but still out of ear shot. She was trying to fetch something out of a tree to no avail.
“I know she may not seem like the most intelligent, but we should play this safe.” Sam clenched his fist as he put it on his palm. “Despite it all she isn’t that dumb.”
“I say we tell her Finn,” Dunia proposed. “He hasn’t been the nicest around camp.”
“Works for me,” Ren turned towards Evie. “Hey Evie over here!”
Evie stopped whatever she was doing and made her way to the group.
“What’s going on guys?”
“We were thinking on voting out Finn tonight,” Ren gestured to everyone surrounding them. “Are you in?”
“Oh he told me to shut up the other day!” Evie pouted. “I’m down.”
“Good so it’s settled then, we vote Finn.”
“Oh no!” Oliwia gasped as she poked her head out of the bush.
---
Confessional Oliwia:
“I can’t lose my new best friend now!” Oliwia whined. “First Aubrey now Finn!”
Oliwia straightened up before snapping her finger.
“I know I’ll get the votes off of Finn! And I’ll save him! I couldn’t save Aubrey but I can save Finn!”
---
“Finn! Finn!” Olwia screamed running through the forest.
“Woah Oliwia what’s wrong?” Bruno asked as he and Manu ran over to her.
“Bruno, Manu I need your help!” Oliwia cried. “First have you seen Finn?”
“Oliwia for the last time I did not see where the knife rock went?” Finn complained, rubbing his temple.
“Finn! I have the most horrible news! I overheard the team talking about getting you out!” Oliwia cried before hugging Finn.
“What!” Finn shouted. “They want to vote out me! Over fricken Evie!”
“Was Evie with the group?” Bruno asked and Oliwia nodded. “Well maybe they were just telling Evie the vote was Finn.”
“Lying to her?” Manu’s face got uncomfortable.
“Um Manu unfortunately that’s part of the game,” Bruno explained sheepishly. “Though at lot of people do try to avoid it.”
“But still why me!” Finn gestured to himself. “Me!”
“You haven’t been the nicest around camp,” Manu pointed out.
“Not to mention, the little girl who literally joined our team this morning has pulled her wait more.” Everyone turned to see Nura approaching them. “What is it not roast Finn hours?”
“Oh, ha ha ha. Very funny.” Finn rolled his eyes.
“Nura!” Oliwia jumped off Finn and turned towards Nura. “Have you seen my knife?”
“Um no.” Nura darted her eyes away.
“Oliwia, we have more important things to worry about!” Finn stepped between them.
“Right, we need to save Finn!”
“I mean he has a lot of faults, but he at least tried to climb the volcano.” Nura started to turn to walk away. “So, I’ll vote to keep him.”
---
Confessional Nura:
“I need to find the time to give Dunia this…” Nura looked at the rock shaped knife in her hand. “Lest Oliwia finds that I have it and has my head for it.”
Confessional Finn:
“We better get the votes to save me! Hell will freeze over before they vote me out before Evie!”
---
“Welcome back Fans!” Emily greeted excitedly. As everyone sat around the fire. “Miss me?”
“Not really…” Nura responded.
“That was rhetorical question. Now we can make this quick and get to voting!”
“Ren,” Fiore said looking at her vote for Evie. “I’m putting my trust in you…”
Bruno wrote down his vote nervous.
Ren wrote down their vote excited.
Evie wrote her vote before fixing her hair a bit.
“This better work!” Finn said through gritted teeth.
Manu awkwardly wrote his vote.
Nura wrote her vote emotionlessly.
Oliwia wiped away some tears and she wrote her vote down.
Dunia wrote her vote while whispering a chant to herself.
Ernesto stroked his bread before writing down his vote.
Sam had a smirk on his face before writing down his vote.
“Alright Fans every vote has been cast, before I read them, anyone have an idol they would like to use?”
The Fans all looked at each other. No one budged.
“Alright then. First vote Evie…”
Evie looked unbothered
“Second vote Finn…”
Finn pouted.
“Third vote Evie…”
Again Evie looked like the words meant nothing to heard.
“Fourth vote Finn…”
Oliwia started tearing up while Finn looked furious.
“Fifth vote Evie…”
Evie twirled her hair a little.
“Sixth vote Finn…”
Finn furiously began looking around.
“Seventh vote Evie…”
Ren and Ernesto looked at each other.
“Eight vote Evie…”
With that Evie shoot up, the broken pattern seemingly breaking her out of whatever trance see was in.
“Ninth vote Evie…”
Evie began to look nervous.
“Tenth vote Evie…”
Evie began praying to herself
“Second person voted out of Disventure Camp is Evie!” Emily shouted revealing the 11th vote. “Sorry Evie time to leave.”
“Aww man,” Evie pouted. “Well at least I had fun! Fiore put in a good word for your dad for me!”
Evie gave Fiore a wink before she walked off. She proceeded to board the boat and was taken to a nearby island. Evie walked through the jungle unstill she came across the sign.
“Rescue Island!” Evie cheered, that must be how I get back home. Evie proceeded to take the torch and walked off, unaware of the decision she had just made.
---
Confessional Ren:
“Phew glad that went well!” Ren wiped the sweat from his forehead. “I know we had the numbers but you never know in this game.”
Ren reached into his back pocket and pulled out Idolina.
“But Idolina lives to see another day!”
Confessional Finn:
“I’m glad my team had some sense…” Finn paused. “Actually, it seems they got some people to flip on the vote.”
Confessional Bruno:
“So Manu and I decided to vote Finn…” Bruno said sheepishly. “I know Evie was the best move for the team but we didn’t want to risk being on the wrong side of the vote.”
Bruno rubbed the back of his head.
“Seems like we were… But maybe it will scare Finn into being nicer.”
---
The scene changes to Evie standing outside a sign for Rescue Island.
