Chapter Text
For the middle of November it was an exceptionally sunny day. Due to the recent storms most trees have lost all or the majority of their leaves and the long shadows they cast gave the impression of sharp thorns or long, thin hands.
It has also snowed and it was cold as fuck. Yeah, sunny did not equal warm. Dr.Beek was leaning against the fence, bundled up in two coats a scarf and a hat. As well as black gloves in which he held the cup of hot chocolate Bo brought in his thermos.
He was peacefully sipping on the delicious drink prepared by Mrs. Abalone watching the chaos in front of him in amusement. Said chaos happened to be a snowball fight between the two Vogel sisters, Bo and Prosper. Terron's sister screamed when Bo got a shot at her face and Terron pressed the snowball she was holding to her neck before dodging and running away from her older sister. They were running around the trees dodging the incoming snowballs. Bo laughed and Dr.Beek snorted when Prosper tripped and fell face down in the snow.
He stopped finding it funny when Prosper got up, shook himself up and made his way towards him laughing. "Give me a break for some hot chocolate!"
He gave him a nod once he got to the fence. "Doc."
Dr. Beek glared at him. Unfortunately it did not have the desired effect. He got a grin back. He looked away from him and back to Bo and the girls.
"Hey, Doc." he chose to ignore that, "Doc, Doc, Sinjun!" That made him snap back to him.
"What." Prosper ran his hand through his hair nervously, looking a bit chagrined. "That's your name isn't it?"
"Did she tell you?" they both glanced in Terron's direction, she was laughing with Bo at something her sister said.
"No. Not consciously, it slipped out when she talked sometimes, doubt she noticed it. We -" nodding in the other direction, "overheard you two sometimes," seems like that's a talent of mine." She wrote your name on a to do list, 'See Sinjun for dinner'"once, since then we've all known." he fumbled with the thermos as he rambled.
Then he cleared his throat and, looked him in the eye, and spoke to him with a sincerity he hadn't directed at him before. "It seemed like a private thing, between you two, you know?"
Sinjun gave him a nod. "It is."
Prosper rambled on, "Well just wanted to let you know she did not reveal it purposefully, just in case." Nervously, he hesitated before he spoke again, "So, you two got sorted out?"
"Pardon?"
A shit eating smile spread over Prosper's face and Dr.Beek did not like that one bit. Teasingly with an air of dramatics which he often displayed. "You know, you and Terron, are you finally together."
Sinjun ungracefully spluttered, "Shut it, Prosper."
To his dismay, his face lit up. "So it's a yes!"
"Shut it."
"Your secret is 100% safe with me... mostly because you haven't told me yet!"
"There's nothing to tell."
"She's at your house like all the time!"
"One more word."
"Fine." Isak laughed and leaned on the fence playfully shoving his shoulder. Then he himself started staring at their friends, his blue eyes were glued to Terron's sister. Prosper was never not obvious about his attraction to Terron's sister. Terron complained to him about that many, many times. (Unknowingly to Sinjun, Maron complained to Isak about him and Terron doing the same thing as well)
That was perhaps the one thing they had in common. Isak must have thought the same as he broke the silence with a soft, "They're easy to love aren't they."
It wasn't a question, and Sinjun felt no need to add anything onto that. He knew Isak had appointed himself as Terron's big brother figure. He always did whatever he could to aid her on her quest to break her curse. He could respect that. And he supposed Terron's sister was not all that bad either, Terron held her dear and she was certainly less annoying then other girls at Sable House.
As he was contemplating, Terron's sister called out to them, something lost in the distance between them as the girls and Bo, stood at the edge of the frozen lake shore. Terron beckoned them over with her arm and so he pushed himself away from the fence and dredged his way through the snow.
In an act of calling a truce and perhaps accepting Isak as a friend he, shoved him with very little force behind it and walked to Terron and the others, Bo was waving at him. Isak stumbled behind him with a chuckle already shouting something to Terron and her sister.
They spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the day, nothing really changed after that, except the increasing amount of knowing looks from Terron's sister, Isak now having the irritating courage to tease him and his friends occasionally using his name.
He and Terron grew closer and eventually she never called him 'Doctor' anymore. It always made him feel exceptionally light just as the very first time when she called him, "Sinjun".
