Chapter Text
Jiang Wanyin sat in his office, trying to distribute the minimal resources available to him to all the work that needs to be done. He has been here all day but saw no real progress.
He knows that all of the other Clans, both major and minor are eyeing his sect closely, Looking for any faults, trying to benefit themselves somehow, on the basis of his inexperience.
Even his so called allies, the Jin, are trying to grab power. He has no one to trust and no person to lean on. And he absolutely cannot make any mistakes. It is in times like this that he misses his broth-no, his Subordinate the most.
Wei Wuxian, for all his faults, was an amazing help both inside and outside the office. As always, he is simply better. He is sure that if it was Wei Wuxian who was the Sect Leader, he would have a large crowd of allies but he wouldn't even need to rely on them. No, Instead he would perform miracles one after the other. Ofcourse his father liked him better. Who wouldn't?
Jiang Wanyin shakes his head. No, He cannot afford to think about him. If Wei Wuxian wants to ruin his life and reputation to save a bunch of Wen Dogs, it is none of his fucking bussiness. He is not a part of his sect, not his problem.
Damn it, why does he keep thinking of him? Wei Wuxian betrayed him, he Left. He promised to stay and left anyway. Why should he care? He wants him back, his brother, his best friend. He misses him.
It is all his fault. Damn you, Wei Wuxian! Now, not only does he need to run his sect alone, he also had to apologize, to the Jin and a bunch of others, because of Wei Wuxian. Even though he already seceded from the sect, since he was still a Jiang disciple when he murdered the cultivators, he had to pay reparations.
"Tch! As always, make a mess and leave it for me to clean it up. Ofcourse, why would you even care of what happens to me."
Jiang Wanyin sighs. He doesn't think he can work anymore today. He gets up and grabs Sandu, he needs to clear his head.
As he runs his fingers along the length of the sword, he realises how ungrateful Wei Wuxian truly is. He knows what it feels to not have a Golden Core inside him. What it feels like to realize he would never be able to use a sword again.
But Wei Wuxian? He chose to not pick up his sword. If only he could feel the gaping hole left without a Core, he would stop disrespecting his sword so much.
He spends a few hours on the training field and returns to his chambers. Maybe the loss of his core made him appreciate it more or maybe it is something else but whatever it is, he feels so much stronger. His core is stronger, his forms better. He can survive with much less sleep than he could before. If his father saw him now, would he finally appreciate him? Would he accept him now? Or would he be more concerned on what Wei Wuxian is doing currently? Would he be disappointed in Wei Wuxian or would he make excuses? What about his mother? Would she finally be proud of him?
He doesn't know. And he never would, because of those Wen Dogs. And Wei Wuxian went and saved them, without caring one bit that they destroyed their home and their lives. So what if they are civilians, did the Wen spare their own civilians and children? The Entire Clan was massacred, save a few, and he should care for them more than the Enemy!
Jiang Wanyin wakes up the next day to someone knocking on his door frantically. He comes out to see his new head disciple looking anxious.
"What happened?"
"Jiang-Zongzhu, it's-You should come to the Lotus Court. Someone is waiting for you. Please be quick."
He frowns,"I do not recall any letters indicating anyone's arrival. Why is there an uninvited and unannounced guest here? Who is it?"
Shen Ruyun Shakes his head," Zongzhu, please. It is vital that you come to the Court immediately. I cannot tell you his name. Please."
Jiang Wanyin sighs. While his head disciple is indeed inexperienced, he doesn't think he would make such a fuss for some insignificant matter. That means whoever is his uninvited guest, they are a big deal. Wait, can it be? Did that fool finally show his face? He understands why Shen Ruyun is not speaking his name then.
"Alright let us go."

Hua Cheng sits in 'Lotus Court' waiting for his beloved's dearest shidi to show his face. He tells himself to calm down a little. A-Ying will not appreciate any physical harm done to that piece of shit. But he has some truly amazing ideas.
Wen Qionglin turned out to be a fantastic ally and even better, has a grudge on Jiang Wanyin that he is not too shy to act on.
He is glad that atleast A-Ying has those two he can depend on. That won't be necessary for long, ofcourse, but still.
Jiang Wanyin arrives finally along with his head disciple who walks anxiously beside him. It was quite fun scaring him. But he has to mention, it was no fault of his. Had he went to call his Sect Leader when asked, he would have been perfectly cordial with him, but alas.
Jiang Wanyin sees him seated and looks disappointed. Hmm...did he expect someone else? But soon recovers and asks, quite impatiently he might add,
"Who are you?"
So not only is he spineless and ungrateful he is also arrogant, huh?
"That is not any of your concern.
Iam here on something much more important. Do you want to talk privately or publicly? I don't care either way, But think wisely..you might get some unexpected news.."
Hua Cheng smirks. He truly does not care either way, but he hopes there are witnesses to this. He wants everyone to know how truly pathetic Jiang Wanyin is. Ever since Wen Qing spilled about Wei Wuxian's possible abuse, all he could think of is burning this place to the ground.
("There are whip marks on his back, indicative of Zidian, a spiritual whip. And they are Old, that means it started when he was very young. Also.. When A-Ning brought him and Jiang Wanyin after the burning of Lotus Pier..he had fresh whip marks and... strangulation marks..which Iam sure are the work of Yu Ziyuan and Jiang Wanyin respectively..")
GeGe sat him down and refused to let him go until he 'Calmed' down. He even sent Ruoye with him to stop him from murdering the purple coloured fool, which? Valid. But, once again, his shidi's death would hurt A-Ying..doesn't matter that he was the cause of many of his hurts, he would still mourn him.
Jiang Wanyin does not deserve a place in his beloved's heart and thoughts. So he will not kill him, no. But He will suffer, and he will do it quietly with no mention to A-Ying.
Jiang Wanyin sends all of his disciple except his head disciple, seems like he came to his decision. Pity, Nobody lets him have any fun these days. Now to bussiness.
Hua Cheng sneers, "Took you long enough, tch."
"I will ask again, who are you? And what do you want?"
Hua Cheng steps closer to him, " As I said before, my identity is none of your concern. As for my purpose.. I wanted to ask you.. How stupid are you?"
