Chapter Text
Purple walked through the street, they walked around the area with purpose. It was a bit chilly today, so they hoped to get this done quickly to go home.
But information is key
And unfortunately, Purple knows next to nothing babies. Let alone how to care for one.
So to solve this conundrum?
The library
Purple would admit, they were a bit nervous in doing this. They've never really went to the library much back then.
Purple pushed the door open, they stared around as they realized.
They didn't know where or what to start with....
Purple stood around for a couple of minutes awkwardly before heading towards the librarian.
"Excuse me? I'm.....looking for some books on children" they began to inquire, their voice diminishing. Their lack of knowledge was really causing their awkwardness to skyrocket. "Preferably about when they're still in the sprouts.....?"
The Liberian didn't look up as they answered "section seven"
Purple glanced around before walking as they mumbled out a "thank you"
Purple slowly walked towards where they were directed.
Why did everything feel so nerve-racking?
It's fine
Everything will be fine
Once Purple arrived towards the area, they skimmed through the titles.
Ah-ha!
Pregnancy care
"That should work" They whispered out to themselves as they grabbed the book off the self.
Purple sat down in a nearby table, book in hand. They stared down at the book in question.
Why did this feel so daunting?
It's just a book
Everything was fine
Purple lifted the book and finally opened it towards a page.
Suddenly a bean walked on by, probably to borrow some books. While walking by they gave Purple a sideways glance for a moment before continuing on their way.
Purple subconsciously sinked in their chair, feeling self conscious about reading this book now.
Why did this matter?
Other people didn't get to them before...
Why now?
Purple shook their head rapidly to remove those thoughts. They inhaled a tiny breath to ease themselves.
"Hiya, purps!" A voice echoes through
"Hello to you too" Purple muttered out a reply, they didn't look up as they didn't need to. They knew who it was.
Red
More like a shadow of the past
A figment of Purple’s imagination
'Red' sat down beside Purple with a stupid grin, they responded happily "I didn't take you for a bookworm, purps!"
Purple ignores the other as they tried to read in peace.
The contents mostly talked about diet changes one should have and different habits to do for a healthy pregnancy.
They should be diligently absorbing this information but 'Red' blabbing was really getting to them.
It got to the point where Purple was staring and rereading the page over again multiple times.
It was getting too loud
Why can't you just shut up?
Why do you haunt me so?
Purple placed their head down on the table and covered their ears. Now they began to hear ringing in their ears.
They just wanted this to stop
Why can't you stop?
Just STOP-
"Excuse me,"
Purple’s head suddenly shot up at the voice
A random bean approached them with a concerned expression. "I wanted to make sure you were okay.....you've been in that position for about an hour now"
Purple’s expression twitched slightly as they processed the information they were just given.
An hour?
It hadn't been that long....
Has it?
"Oh I- I'm sorry about that" Purple quickly said as they stood up and moved with clear hast "I think I should go now....."
Purple walked quickly out of the library, they took a gulp as they muttered quietly to themselves "it's fine it's fine, you've got this just.....pull yourself together, Purple"
As they walked through the street, they stopped soon against a window.
There was a TV displaying the news.
"News of a new captain in MIRA returning from a new mission!"
And it was the face of the last person Purple wanted to see.
Red
The news reporter was interviewing the new 'captain'
But they couldn’t hear a single thing they were saying.
All Purple could see was the other's stupid face, and how happy they looked. Their knuckles tightened into a fist as they really wanted to break the screen at that moment.
Was this a cruel joke by fate or something?
Purple let out a tiny scoff as they shoved their hands into their pockets, they muttered out "Why are you everywhere....everything I see, you're there even when you're not actually here...."
Purple didn't say anything else as they turned away as they walked, they tried not to look back either.
After awhile, Purple finally arrived to their next location for today, the street market.
Because as it stands, Purple needs to be more healthy for the upcoming months.
Unfortunately for Purple, being healthy is more expensive than being unhealthy
Junk food is so cheap.
But Purple needs to make an effort, development for a baby is crucial.
That's why they are shopping at the street market, to buy more healthier food at a cheaper price than you would in the supermarket.
So Purple would spend most of their evening browsing through to the items for sale. And definitely argue to the shopkeeper about lowering the price.
All apart of the true shopping experience.
Surprisingly, Purple was able to walk away from the experience with pretty much satisfaction. It had went well.
Unlike some other things in their life...
They began to walk back home with their bag in hand, until suddenly stopping.
It was store, filled with stuff for baby beans.
Purple before wouldn't focus on such things. But because of recent developments, it caught their eye.
Purple stared dumbly at the window that held some things on display like toys, clothes and cribs
Maybe it'd be okay to enter?
Just for a look around....?
They thought about it for a moment, before looking down at the street where their apartment would be.
Another day maybe
Purple gripped their bag tightly in their hand. The idea of going in now felt intimidating. They had time to browse for another day. It's not like they had the money right now to buy anything.
By the time Purple arrived, it was already getting dark. They walked up the stairs to reach their apartment.
It took a few minutes for Purple to find their keys with their hands rather full. After awhile, Purple finally opened the door.
Purple took in the sight of their living situation
How pathetic
They placed down their bag on the counter, they put it away later.
Purple suddenly paused for a moment before quickly grabbing a stickynote as they scribbled something down. They quickly slapped it on their fridge where they can see it often.
Save up money to buy a crib!!!!
Purple stared at the note with satisfaction, a crib was probably the most expensive thing to buy but necessary. They've heard that babies tend to roll around and almost fall of beds.
Better safe than sorry.
Night had already fallen down later on.
Purple was currently laying on their bed with a peice of paper on their lap.
"Hm, maybe Carmine?" They muttered out thoughtfully as they scribbled it down on the paper.
Maybe it was too early but Purple really wanted to at least think of some names.
Suddenly another idea flashes into their head.
"How about....Magenta? Purple said to themselves in surprise. They really liked that name, it was cute.
"What do you think?" They asked as they glanced at their back.
"Yeah, I like it too" Purple murmured out tiredly as they circled the name.
We might have a winner
"I'll write some more ideas down later" Purple put away the paper by their nightstand as they when over to turn off the lights. "For now, sleep"
Purple went back to their bed and quickly got comfortable, well as best they could with a mattress as stiff as bricks.
They turned on their side to look at their nightstand.
There was a photo of both of Red and Purple on it. They hadn't gotten rid of it yet, but didn't bother to look at it anymore in these past weeks.
Purple slowly lifted their hand towards it, they grabbed the frame as they pulled it close to their face.
Purple stared blankly at it for a few minutes before returning it to its original place on the nightstand, but instead Purple placed it downwards, away from view.
They quickly shut their eyes as they got ready to drift away into slumber.
