Chapter Text

Baek Saheon was a panicked mess when he heard the door slam shut.

Kekekekeke

“...!?” One of the countless started to thump erratically as if someone or something was knocking it down or asking for him to open it. Unfortunately for whatever was on the other side of the door, Baek Saheon was not the most gullible person.

> Civilian, run and press the emergency button!

The voice of the Good Friend was quiet and faded, but unmistakably still there, so it was clearly the work of a Darkness. Baek Saheon started sprinting like there was no tomorrow when the door broke down, searching for the bright red emergency button.

A few more feet away…!

Kekekekeke

Something was following him, something with multiple feet that he could hear was stomping against the ground behind him.

Aaaah, I just wanted to make equipment!!!

Baek Saheon’s fingers had barely brushed against the button when something locked onto his ankle and pulled him back.

> Civilian!!!

Kekekekeke

■■■■■■■■■

Look at me

Kekek■■■keke

Baek Saheon bit back a scream as he thrashed against the THING’s hold. Its mouth opened wide to reveal rows of sharp teeth and an endless void.

Ah, is this the end?

No. This would not be his death.

> Kick the button! Press it, no matter what!

Baek Saheon’s foot broke free from the THING’s grip and found the button on the wall, kicking it hard.

Riiiiiiiing. Riiiiing. Riiing.

Baek Saheon’s Good Friend went silent as familiar black smoke engulfed the area. He was suddenly released from the THING’s grip, unable to see what was going on with the smoke hindering his vision.

Black smoke curled around him protectively like a shield, before the one covering his eyes shifted and dissipated to show the THING in ruins, a bloody and black mess.

He looked up to see a tall, black security team member with antlers and a gas mask, in which his body didn’t quite make sense.

It breathed out smoke from its gas mask, forming letters into words.

Target subdued

“I-I see…” Baek Saheon replied with a blank look, unsure of what to make of the situation as he slowly pulled himself up, a faint throb in his ankle.

That smoke was from the carrier, right? So that small thing contained this being?

Question: Condition

“Condition? You mean me? I’m fine, I didn’t get particularly hurt or anything.” Oddly, Baek Saheon felt almost comfortable in this being’s presence. It was familiar and warm.

Follow

“Okay…” Baek Saheon replied. Better to obey whatever this is than accidentally offend it and get turned into a lump of flesh.

The being turned around and headed for the exit door with heavy footsteps. Baek Saheon hurried to catch up with it.

“Wait, but I needed to go create equipment.” Baek Saheon realized, which was responded to by a floating Checkup in smoke.

“I told you, I’m fine,” he insisted.

Negative

“...” Maybe he should stop pushing any further now.

After a bit of walking, Baek Saheon tripped on air, bracing himself.

Suggestion: Caution

His body was caught by the being easily just before he fell down. “...!”

Suggestion:

There were no words that followed, but he felt the sensation of himself being lifted up.

!?!?!?!?!?

Baek Saheon was now in the arms(?) of this being.

Smoke engulfed his whole body, almost feeling like a hug. Now Baek Saheon realized it—his leg was bleeding profusely from when the entity grabbed him, and his body had some bruises from being dragged around on the hard floor. He hadn’t even noticed it due to the adrenaline and distraction of the Security Team member, but now he could feel the dizziness from blood loss.

No wonder it wanted him to have a checkup.

“I- I can walk myself…”

Negative

“...”

Baek Saheon was carried out of the corridor and out of the Annex to the infirmary.

A few employees in the infirmary flinched at the sight of a monstrous Security Team member personally carrying an injured Baek Saheon of all people.

It wasn’t particularly surprising they reacted like that; it wasn’t every day you saw a sight like this.

Take care

The being set Baek Saheon down on an infirmary bed.

“...” He watched the back of the being slowly disappear.

“130666 carried you here…? Was there an emergency? Seems like it, considering your injury, Supervisor Goat.” One of the employees said.

130666?

After Baek Saheon’s leg got treated at the infirmary, he immediately left the building to return to his apartment. He was not going to stay in the infirmary for a leg injury like that. He even doubted they would’ve treated him if it weren’t for that being—130666, apparently—carrying him there.

“Agent…” he sighed as he watched the shadow on the wall again. He should buy a flashlight for this, his phone wouldn’t be enough. “What was I, a damsel in distress? I didn’t need to be carried…” he ranted on and on about 130666.

> …

> But my Good Friend was injured, it only makes sense, doesn’t it…?

> I’d be concerned if you hadn’t been brought to the infirmary.

“I guess… but I wasn’t even able to get equipment in the end.”

Is he pouting? the Good Friend thought. And sure enough, Baek Saheon’s lips were twisted into something that resembled a slight pout. …Cute. Um, wait, did I just call Baek Saheon cute? I mean, he is my Good Friend…

“...I’m going to go make dinner.” Baek Saheon huffed as he turned back to look at the doll, cutting off the Darkness connection and turning his phone’s flashlight off, getting up to turn the lights back on and leaving the room, bringing his Good Friend along with him.

I said that, but I don’t know what I want to cook either. Baek Saheon shoved the thought away in embarrassment as he pretended to know what he was doing, pulling the fridge door open and checking the ingredients.

In the end, he made a simple stew with an aroma that wafted through the air, chunks of beef in the somewhat watery stew (It was still impressively appetising nonetheless considering the meager ingredients in the fridge). It was a recipe his sister had taught him, modified to match his current refrigerator's poor stock.

Now I’m hungry too. I guess I can still get hungry in this doll body? His Good Friend thought. Hmm. My Good Friend is so good at cooking. Maybe he could join Braun’s show, oh, perhaps a cooking show? I’m sure Braun would like that. No, my Good Friend shouldn’t make his hobbies commercial and should simply enjoy them…! But, but, but! But Braun is also my Good Friend, right? Wait, but…

Baek Saheon scarfed down the food, oblivious to his Good Friend’s worries. He hadn’t had any appetite earlier, but it suddenly came back when the adrenaline from ranting washed away. Eat well, sleep well, live well—Baek Saheon’s guide to survival. Well, it might be more like “Take any chance you get to live whether it’s evil or not”...

But that thing… that 130666… it was kind of familiar for some reason? I should’ve taken a reading of it with my purple eye.

Baek Saheon cleared his plate in record time and picked it up to wash it at the sink.

Scrub away all the dirt and leftovers. Scrape it until it’s clean and squeaky.

Scrub away all your problems and worries. Scrape your mind clean until all there is is for your Good Friend.

His Good Friend internally flinched as he felt Baek Saheon’s mood spike. He had a throbbing headache… He kept having those recently, maybe he should buy some medicine soon.

“Ow.” Baek Saheon winced as his head started to pound. “I have a headache again. Why does that keep happening…” He sighed as he lightly squeezed the ear of the bunny while he set the clean, wet plate to the side to dry.

My Good Friend keeps hurting… The doll thought sadly.

Baek Saheon returned to his room.

Beep-beep. Beep-beep. Beep-beep.

Baek Saheon opened his eyes blearily just to feel an intense heat surging through his skin. “Nn…” he groaned into his pillow. He had a restless sleep, tossing and turning, and now he was burning up with what seemed to be a fever.

His hand shot up to silence the blaring alarm, nearly sending it flying backwards.

I want to help my Good Friend, but in this body, I can’t move or talk at all! His Good Friend miserably thought. Only if I could go to him as 130666, or maybe in my human body…

“Haaah…” Baek Saheon breathed shallowly as he forced himself to sit up. Could he even go to work like this? No way he could enter a Darkness with a horrible fever like this one, right?

Baek Saheon grabbed his phone from the nightstand with wobbly hands and sent a message to the company.

‘Hello this is Baek Saheon. I have a fever so I won’tbe cinobg tp work todya’

He didn’t even care that he mistyped “coming” so horribly, alongside other words, and just tossed his phone back to its original spot.

Good Friend, I am sorry to have failed you! Please, I wish for your health to be better! His Good Friend thought desperately. Unfortunately, thoughts were merely thoughts, and they couldn’t do anything externally.

Baek Saheon didn’t have anyone he could consider as friends—only those above him or below him. After all, someone with a god complex like him could never see someone as equal standing with him.

Neither did he have anyone he could call family. His sister was…… And the rest were just a**holes.

So his Good Friend was depressed to see him in this state, without anyone to care for him, without the ability to even comfort him. Then what could he do? He wanted to soothe his Good Friend’s pains away.

What

Could

He

Do?

At the very least, Baek Saheon should get up and take some medicine. Drink some water too. His Good Friend really wanted to suggest it, but his lips were sewn shut.

So what was something he could do?

He should look elsewhere, not this pathetic plush doll of his. To somewhere he can actually control, even if only barely.

Something he can control…

Then, should he come here as 130666 to take care of his Good Friend?

130666 made a decision.
